Far Cry Primal is now official — it’s set in the prehistoric era and will feature woolly mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers, as we reported yesterday. It will be out on February 23, 2016 for Xbox One and PS4, with a PC version to follow.

The Cheapest NBN 1000 Plans
Looking to bump up your internet connection and save a few bucks? Here are the cheapest plans available.
Yes please. Last time I talked about far cry 4 I said I wanted one with dinosaurs so this comes pretty close to that
Does Ark have guns (like is it scifi) am keen to check it out when it hits xbone
It does, but there are also “Primitive” servers which limit you to only stone-age technology.
Yep. I play on the DRust modded server, loads of fun, good community, some raiding but not over the top amounts. Look for it if you wanna join.
I love that they’re trying new things with the expansions even if the base game was pretty similar to one another.
The Far Cry formula went a bit stale for me in FC4. Hoping for some major changes in gameplay mechanics with this release
It’ll be interesting to see how they balance the interesting setting with the arcade silliness and the series staples of “do the same thing 1000 times”.
Will we be climbing 45 really tall trees to unlock map areas?
Smashing 200 rock paintings?
Collecting 300 dino droppings?
Tracking down 40 hidden cod-pieces?
Will there be large scale animal battles or will there just be hundreds of game stopping random encounters (ie eagle attacks) as you walk through the jungle?
Don’t get me wrong, the setting looks awesome and there’s lots of potential there. It’s just that a few of the series staples could get even more tiresome without the aid of mechanical vehicles. They’re going to have to make some smart choices if this is going to work.
I would be better if you could draw the rock paintings and other people online could see your cave drawings Dark Souls style
Which would lead to the inevitable question “why were cave people so obsessed with penises?”
I don’t know if that’s a serious question or not but humanity’s been obsessed with penises since the dawn of time.
I’m with you here. I want to be excited for this, but the whole time I was watching the trailer all I could think was, “still just looks like Far Cry 3/4.”
This looks actually really interesting, I can’t wait to see how it all comes about!
Same day as Deus Ex, this wait for me.
Not sure how it’ll work without guns – should be interesting to see
Fallout 4
Star Wars: Battlefront
Far Cry Primal
No Man’s Sky
I may never see sunlight ever again.
I haven’t played the Phantom Pain yet, it looks great but I haven’t played any of the MGS series. I think the experience of this game might be lost on me 🙁
Definitely should include TW3, reading the article about how all the quests were put together makes me want to play it as well…
I’ll move my T.V to the basement today.
I think Phantom Pain is quite a good entry point. It has the fun stuff like fulton from peace walker, open world unlike the older games. I’ve been in and out of MGS games and this is quite different except the core mechanics of sneaking and alerting. Should definitely check it out.
I was waiting for an enabler like you to come along and tell me this.
Thank you.
I wonder if this means Ubisoft will be including prehistoric gender portrayals?
….oh wait.
But in all seriousness this does look kind of cool. I really enjoyed Far Cry 4, and if this plays like that in an Ark/Horizon: Zero Dawn-ish setting, it could be quite fun.
Just an arrow in the dark here, but let me take a stab at this.
Evil Warlord Guy keeps foot firmly on the throat of poor, unhappy locals.
Locals require a hero.
Enter Hero Guy.
Hero Guy takes on Evil Warlord Guy in a series of skirmishes against his encampments.
Hero Guy collects many relics along the way.
Evil Warlord Guy and Hero Guy come to an epic face off and unhappy locals are saved in a brief, anticlimactic ‘epic’ battle to the death.
Hero Guy wins.
Sprinkle with Dinosaurs, allow to rest and enjoy.
In all seriousness, seems cool. I’m in.
One question I can’t seem to find an answer to – is this a full $60US game, or is it a standalone ex-DLC kind of deal (like Blood Dragon)?
Yeah. This looks like expansion pack material to me. The scope is just going to be too small for a ‘Far Cry’ game. Kinda makes sense since it’s not called Far Cry 5.
That’s what I’m expecting, but at the same time, if far cry 5 is “more of the same” as the last two, it’ll start to drop off and get boring, so it would make sense to go off the beaten path with full installments. Also, with Assassins Creed not using numbers any more, could also seem likely.
Honestly, I think I’d be much more likely to play it if it was smaller – fingers crossed its the DLC sized option!
