Modder Adds Resident Evil’s Original, Awful Voice Acting Into Remake

When the Resident Evil remake was re-released earlier this year, one modder had a specific change in mind: bring back the cringeworthy voice acting. In January, they’d only worked in a few scenes, but that’s changed in the months since. Now, the whole game has terrible voice acting!

“It took me a long time to finish this mod mainly because there were more than 500 audio files to edit,” wrote modder Bunny on the Resident Evil Modding Forum. “And the dialogues were already mixed with sound effects like footsteps, gunshots, enemies, etc. So at some point the editing process became tedious and I had to take breaks more often.”

This mod is, obviously, only for the PC version of the game.

Even with re-recorded voice acting, Resident Evil remains cheesy as hell, but the contrast between the high-definition visuals and the 1996 voice overs is great:

In fact, just watch this whole exchange between Wesker, Barry, and Jill:

The mod is available to download over here.

Capcom should have made this a legitimate option in the real game, honestly.
