No Man's Sky Will Be Released In June 2016

I was surprised when Sony didn't announce a release date for No Man's Sky during its press conference this morning, but now we have one: No Man's Sky will be available on the PlayStation 4 in June 2016.

"This is a game that means everything to our team," explained Sean Murray from Hello Games. "I have wanted to play something like No Man’s Sky since I was a kid, and many of you have told me you feel the same. For all of us, we get one shot to make this game and we can’t mess it up. Our small team knows the world is watching, we’ve come from the bottom and we don’t take it lightly."

June 2016 is a little later than you might expect. There were rumours that No Man's Sky would be ready as early as this week, but that wasn't the case.

"Every hour of every day between now and then allows us to add more features, polish and diversity to our universe," Sean explained. "Some of those features are things we haven’t shown anyone yet, but are our most requested.

"We know the wait will be excruciating for some, but I hope you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about No Man’s Sky over the coming months."

Sean Murray also confirmed, via Twitter, that it was indeed Rutger Hauer who provided the sagely gravitas for the above trailer, revealed this morning.

Here's hoping this game will be worth the wait.

And it wont live up to the hype.
Once you get passed the cool art style and randomly generated creatures what else is there?

I love the style but after style what is it offering?

Probably parts of the game they haven't showed off yet?

To be honest, I think all the hype has come from the media itself and the public, in my own opinion the devs have tried to temper the expectations that the game seems to have amongst those I mentioned. And I know this won't satisfy most people but for me I will be happy if it is just a exploration focused game. The showing of the game on Stephen Colbert got me even more excited.

It does have space combat as well and it seems like there will be planet combat too, they just haven't shown too much of it yet.

So yes, not for everyone, but I am very excited and can't wait to play it! :)

It is offering planetary exploration, you get to fly spaceships around a fully populated universe, have cockpit-view space battles, VR support, fps style shooter fun on some of the planets, and it's procedurally generated so you don't see the same tired character models over and over everywhere you go. It looks like there is plenty in there to be a fully fledged game.

So it is offering, you know, a game that is fun to play.

This is a case where the players created more hype than the developers themselves, kinda rare in a market where the EA's and Ubisoft's turn the PR hype machine up to full and then field the backlash later (And often only after their stock takes a hit)

I'm fairly excited for the game too, but my hype is in check because we still only really know the same things as when it was announced. We have seen the seamless travel, scanning life forms, one player ship, naming stuff and collecting resources based on their original periodic table.
So if the game doesn't live up to the hype, many people only have their imaginations to blame.

Yeah it is over-hyped, also EVERY planet I have seen so far had a FOG WALL in it. I really am not interested in a game that uses such tactics to optimize for the sake of consoles. I don't want to land on a planet to see shit but be presented with a fog wall 100metres out!!!!

No Man’s Sky will be available on the PlayStation 4 in June 2016What about the PC version?

As far as I know its a playstation exclusive

Nah they confirmed its coming to PC as well, maybe even XbO down the track, it's just a ps4 timed exclusive at this point that's all.

I saw an article some time back saying it would be released on ps4 and pc simultaneously :)

Oh damn forgot about that! Well I know which version I'll be getting then :)

The June 2016 date was shown on stage during the Sony show, and I was simultaneously excited and disappointed. The new teaser trailer looked great, but I was hoping it was going to be a Xmas release. I guess June 2016 means that I can get the VR setup at the same time, so that is a plus. The new variety shown really got me stoked for the title, will now try and ignore any future trailers for the next 8 months....

I'm taking it as a positive. Every year there are usually plenty of A-grade titles that come out around now that having one delayed a good few months will let me get through them. I already have a stockpile of games, delaying one is a bit of a godsend actually.

And it just raises the anticipation that little more.

I'm really looking forward to this, but they announced it WAY too early!

i'm kind of hoping for a Morpheus (yes i know the name changed, i don't care) + No Man's Sky bundle on launch, which would just make June special next year :D :D :D

    So no PC release date?

This is what I immediately thought of:
