Not every Pokémon-themed handheld has to be covered with Pikachu. This lucky fan-made Game Boy Colour for example has the entire region of Kanto painted on its front by Belgian graphic artist Vadu Amka.

The purpose of this creation was to give the illusion that it’s an old and mysterious artefact found in the ruins.

Here are some zoomed-in shots. Cool details of Kanto indeed:

  • The level of detail is fantastic. I particularly like how they used the Unown; they’re a nice touch!

  • Couldn’t figure out what the back was supposed to say, apparently ‘Gogetoad’ (written with Unowns) is the name of the person it’s made for.

    • Yeah, I struggled with that as well. I have trouble reading normal words spelt out with Unown, so I pretty much gave up trying to understand what they said on the back of the Gameboy.
