One hundred and sixty tons of Japanese sand were needed to make this. That’s a lot of sand.
To break that down, sixteen ten ton trucks were needed to haul the sand, and a hundred tons of water were used to create the sculpture, which is located in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. The region is famous for its dunes — hence, the sand sculpture.
According to Famitsu, in total, the whole thing took two months to finish!

This might give you an idea of scale?

Maybe not. That’s the Tottori Prefecture mascot not a character from the new movie (bummer!).
Earlier this year, a giant Star Wars snow sculpture went up in Hokkaido.

This Force Awakens sand art will be on display until December when Episode VII hits theatres.
