Well, I hope you like JRPGs, because a metric ton of them are being released this week. What else? A lot of really interesting Steam releases. Honestly! Mushroom 11 might be the one to check out. Or Human Resource Machine.
Oh, and I almost forgot: Rock Band 4 and Minecraft: Story Mode are both out this week.
Animal Gods (PC)
What is it? A top-down action/adventure thing that looks new and retro at THE SAME TIME.
Should you care? This looks cool. I’m impressed by the art. Well worth checking out.
CMYW (PC)
What is it? An interesting game about cooperation and betrayal. Super simple. Seems like it has some interesting ideas.
Should you care? I don’t know, something about this just appeals to me. It’s basic but seems like a lot of fun.
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance (PS4)
What is it? It’s the latest in the Disgaea series. Has been out in Japan for a while. Finally coming to the west.
Should you care? Apparently it’s really quite good!
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden! (3DS)
What is it? It’s a Dragon Ball Z game. You know the drill.
Should you care? If you like Dragon Ball Z, maybe. Otherwise? No.
Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4)
What is it? It’s a Dragon Quest game, but very different from most Dragon Quest games.
Should you care? It’s surprisingly good from what I can figure. Has reviewed very well.
Human Resource Machine (PC)
What is it? It’s the new game from the creators of World of Goo and Little Inferno. That’s good enough for me.
Should you care? This looks really interesting and fun. Very keen.
Minecraft: Story Mode (PC)
What is it? Oh, it’s the Telltale Minecraft game!
Should you care? Yeah this looks good. This could be the one game you have to check out this week.
Mushroom 11 (PC)
What is it? This is super weird. But it looks super great. It’s a messed up puzzle game about managing a lump of evolving goo.
Should you care? Seriously, check this out. This looks special.
Nubs’ Adventure (PC)
What is it? Its retro-styled 2D platformer… WAIT, STOP. WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
Should you care? This looks nice enough. Has Metroidvania elements. Looks polished at least.
Planetbase (PC)
What is it? I feel like we just recently wrote about a game like this, about setting up colonies on Mars? Anyway, here’s another one. This looks polished as hell.
Should you care? If you like these sort of management games and you like sci-fi, check it out.
Rock Band 4 (Xbox One/PS4)
What is it? It’s Rock Band 4, a week late. Still pretty good.
Should you care? Man, I dunno. Yes. Rock Band is back. But yeah, I have problems. I don’t know if this is gonna work out for most us who have back catalogues to download.
Tales of Zestiria (PS3/PS Vita)
What is it? Another JRPG from the Tales series.
Should you care? It’s not bad. But you have a fair amount of choices this week if you like JRPGs.
What are you picking up this week? Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments below!

Nothing for me this week. 29 days til Fallout 4!!! Will continue through my backlog until then.
Tales of Zestiria is not coming out on Vita, it’s coming out on PS4 as well as PS3.
These titles should also be out this week:
Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone Expansion
Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition (PS4/XBOne/XBox 360)
Dungeon Travelers 2 (Vita – Digital)
Talos Principle – Deluxe Edition (PS4)
Wasteland 2 (PS4/XBOne)
WRC 5 (PS4/XBOne/XBox 360/PS3)
Disgaea 5 all the way for me this week! Been waiting a long time for it.
Mmmm… More Witcher 😀
I think I will get the Talos Principal
Anyone thinking of buying the witcher expansion, it’s worth getting the physical copy off the shelf. It comes with a full deck of Gwent cards :p
I freaking love the Tales series, but I didn’t like Graces nearly as much as Vesperia or Abyss, and I heard that Xillia wasn’t that great either. Hopefully Zestiria’s cut from the same cloth as some of the earlier instalments.
Xillia got off to a super super slow start, it eventually resolved to be a game like the rest of the series but it took a while to get there.
Xillia’s main problem is that it lacks a lot of the staple extras you might expect, like unlockable costumes and a decent arena and post-game content. That’s because it was rushed out the door for the Tales 15th Anniversary. it’s a really solid entry in the series in spite of that. Not as good as Vesperia or Abyss (that’s the peak of the franchise so far) but definitely not bad. Better overall than Graces, though Graces beats them all in the combat system.
Witcher 3 expansion this week!
Wooh!
Yay! I get my Gwent decks!
…
and the game attached to them I guess
I was going to get Dragon quest heroes but decided to save my cash & get Divinity Original Sin instead.
Probably pick up DQ after Xmas
DRAGON QUEST HEROES IS COMING OUT?! Shit there goes my weekend!
The release of Minecraft: Story Mode has reminded me that I haven’t started Tales from the Borderlands and am two or three episodes behind on Game of Thrones. Plenty to do to kill time before Fallout 4.
Looks like a good week to jump back into the pile of shame… or go back to MGSV
Dragon Quest Heroes! Koei-Tecmo / Omega Force have been on a real roll this year.
Now to see if Big W or Target have it for a good price!
Rock Band 4 it is.
I’m only seeing two JRPGs in this list? Disgaea 5 and Tales of Zestiria?
Personally I’m waiting a couple weeks longer on Zestiria for the PC release as it’ll be better than the PS3 or PS4 versions.
Yeah, and then my main man Mark is like “Zestiria aint bad, but there are many other jrpgs to choose from’.
… Yeah im sorry, but you’ve got D5 or Zestiria if you want a JRPG this week, and he needs to be enlightened on how great Tales games are!
MARK U HEARING ME? You play Zestiria and then try telling me that there are better jrpgs to play, ok m8?
Was this article even up last week? I never saw it, at any rate last week’s’ Transformers Devastation and this week’so Minecraft Story Mode are on the birthday lists of my eldest son and daughter respectively!
