Although WoW is a huge game, it doesn’t have many secrets. Fans datamine everything before a patch or an expansion goes live and immediately share it online. Sometimes tiny things do remain hidden though. But only for a few weeks.
Terky the Murloc was one of those Asia-only pets, not added to the game on US or EU realms, until Blizzard devs secretly sneaked it in in patch 6.2.2. (so this secret barely lasted a month and a half), hiding it in a submerged cave in Borean Tundra — a zone that’s pretty much empty nowadays.
If anyone is in contact with the first finder of Terky I’d love to hear the story of how they found one of the most hidden caves in WoW 🙂

Turns out the first one who found it was a French player who was levelling his alt mage in Borean Tundra, and didn’t even realise he found something new and cool.
In retrospect, should have hotfixed her in on Thanksgiving #Terkyday

Hint for capturing Terky: play a Gnome. Also a good tip in general. And a command. Roll a gnome. NOW.

Here’s a video below showing how to find it. Don’t worry if your subscription is not active, you can go there under level 20 and grab it quickly.
And the funniest thing about this Easter egg? It’s no longer an Easter egg:

Yeah, since news of this spread, there are hundreds of trolls hanging out in the cave trying to mess with people wanting to collect it. Dropping guild chests or summonable objects on top of it, trying to obscure it with large mounts and such. Standard fare for douchebags in WoW really.
/target murkyterkywhatever not hard to get around it.
i feel more for those on pvp servers.
It’s an interactive object, it isn’t targetable.
Data miners strike me as incredibly dull people. What is the point of removing all mystery from a game before it even played? Just because they can? Lame. Beyond lame.
dead game .
Yeah, look at that cave full of nobody in the last screenshot. So empty. And that’s just on one zone instance.
Might not be “dead” .. but certainly dying. The subscription drop off after the current expansion has been dramatic. Peaking at 10million subs in December ’14 down to 5.6million in q2 ’15. The expected numbers for the just finished q3 2015 are expected to be well below 5million, the lowest number since 2005 (just after initial launch).
Harsh reality, people are willing to see whats new in wow expansions, but are falling off the wagon faster and faster each time.
