I’m actually a little gutted about this; I was looking forward to turning my queue lines into mazes and making kids puke at the entrance gates over Christmas.
In a post on Steam, Atari and Nvizzio have announced that Rollercoaster Tycoon World will now be shipping in early 2016, with a more precise date to be announced after the second preview weekend kicks off.
“Our highest priority has always been to release a game that we’re proud of, one that lives up to the lofty standards set by the previous titles,” the developers wrote. “With this new timing we will be able to do just that – deliver a robust tycoon experience along with additional layers of polishing and tweaks that the extra time affords us.”
Pushing the game back slightly, according to the post, will allow the devs to add a suite of new features for launch, including an on-demand grid, a tool for fences, a better test mode for rollercoasters and better functionality in the rollercoaster builder, including predefined curves and lines.
A second beta test will also be opened up in December as a result of the move. “Our focus remains on the coaster builder with the additional tweaks and functionalities … along with a few other features,” the post reads.
The developers also noted that the first beta was lacking user-generated content, an in-game economy, a campaign, rides, simulations and people, features that people should be able to get their hands on before too long.
What are you looking forward to from another Rollercoaster Tycoon — or Tycoon-esque — game?

Hope this is good. Picked up the roller coaster tycoon pinball machine recently and it’s got me wanting to play an rct game again.
I hope the coaster editor takes some queues from No Limits.
I really feel like playing rct now. Loved that game.
I’m fine with the delay. It’s actually good to see they’re not trying to rush the game out the door, if extra development time means more refined or new features then I’m all for it! The beta looks great so far at least.
So keen for this game, I’m all for them pushing it back for further polish.
Fellow fans keen for this game should also note Frontier Developments, the team behind RCT3 and it’s expansions, are working on their own spiritual successor called “Planet Coaster”. Not slated for release until Q4 2016, but worth keeping an eye out for!
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if Planet Coaster ends up being better than this.
