We’re approaching the end of 2015 and it’s been an amazing year for video games really. Let’s look to next year — what games are you most looking forward to?
I have a couple. No Man’s Sky, Dark Souls 3, The Witness. Those are the three that immediately spring to mind. I’m hoping I’ll also get to play Zelda on the Wii U next year as well, or maybe a fully flegded 3D Mario game, but those feel like long shots.
What are you all looking forward to in 2016?

I’m cautiously optimistic about Mirror’s Edge.
Also I hear there’s going to be a new Assassin’s Creed. That could be cool…
Probably another Call of Duty and Battlefield as well
I’d prefer a Call of Beauty dating sim and Cattlefield cow simulator.
Come on, Mirror’s Edge! You can do it!
(got my statuette edition on pre-order)
Probably Zelda and Doom at this stage.
What is this, 1993?
I never moved on.
You had me at DS3…
bravely second and fire emblem
Oh! Bravely Second, can’t believe I forgot!!
STAR FOOOOOOOOOX
Star… Citizen?
(Let’s be realistic though, it probably won’t come out in 2016)
And hopefully Legend of Zelda, too! 😀
What is this… 1993?
I wish! Then I could line up outside the cinemas to go see Super Mario Bros.
Lol! You sound like a time traveller that doesn’t know what year they’ve appeared in! …
BATTLEBORN
Tom Clancy’s The Division and the new TrackMania game.
See I am the opposite, I was looking forward to Division, but ended up falling out of love with it after playing it at pax aus.
Oh really? Anything in particular put you off? I am really looking forward to it.
It reminds me heavilly of destiny and borderlands mechanically… enemies tend to be pretty bullet sponge-y; players take entire clips and thats with the floating damage text giving feed back.
The first part of the year will probably involve me finishing games that come out between now and Christmas…
After that though, the final Witcher 3 expansion, No Man’s Sky and PlayStation VR (if that counts).
Off the top of my head:
Persona 5
Zero Time Dilemma
Street Fighter V
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Uncharted 4
Legend of Zelda Wii U
Starfox Zero
Uncharted 4
Possibly Rise of the Tomb Raider and Doom 4
But most importantly…freaking SHADOW OF THE BEAST!!!
That’s about it at the moment as nothing else I’ve got my eye on has been confirmed for 2016 yet.
Does Shadow of the Beast look good? I saw a short vid & wasn’t really sure what was going on. 2D brawler?
Yeah.
Shadow of the Beast was an old Amiga game, one of my favourites when I was growing up. This is a modern reboot and it looks pretty sweet. Essentially a side scrolling beat ’em up.
Newest trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHXkppWILBQ
Yeah, I think it came to mega drive too.
It came to a lot of systems 😛 The original was ported to just about every system known to man at the time. Oddly enough though, none of them were a 100% replica of the Amiga original.
It’s pretty cool how they did that back in the day, e en the GameBoy got horribly stripped down ports.
So… basically it’s completely shitting on the idea, concept and pretty much everything that made the original game and merely attempting to cash in on the name and a playable character that looks like the original?
Sounds about par for the course these days.
It looks pretty good to me actually. They did an interview with the guy that’s heading it and he’s actually a big fan of the original game.
It kinda looks okay for a 2d brawler, but it just doesn’t really remind me of the original game at all.
That said, I don’t think the original holds up particularly well any more, but it still just gives the vibe that the whole exercise is just a recognition grab like the “Thief” reboot which just took a massive steaming dump on the original franchise.
You’re about ten years too late there 😛
I have no idea what you’re talking about 😛
Persona 5 is at the top of my list followed by Cold Steel 2 & Dark Souls 3.
If it actually occurs, Final Fantasy XV.
Whenever Divinity Original Sin 2 hits consoles ill be all over it.
I wish Sega would do Sonic Racing 3, but that’s a dream(cast).
Oh yeah, Rise of Tomb Raider for ps4.
Bravely Second & Shin Megami Tensei IV Final (fingers crossed)
P5
Im so excited for it
P5P5P5
Yeah, it looks so goddam good!
Horizons Zero Dawn and Detroit look the most interesting to me. I don’t have a PS4 yet so that might have to change next year.
Oh yeah, and a whole bunch of hype for the consumer Rift and everything that goes with that.
Uncharted 4 is probably the biggest for me. Also Overwatch (willing to bet it’ll be out 2016), the PC port of Rise of the Tomb Raider, Cuphead, Unravel… Feel like I’m forgetting some things..
I’m looking forward to Dota 2 coming out of beta.
wait its still in beta?
Uncharted 4!!!!!
Played it at PAX and am absolutely pumped for it!
Also:
– MIrrors Edge
– No Man’s Sky
– Firewatch
– Horizon: Zero Dawn
– Dishonored 2
– Objects in Space [indy space trading game I saw demo’d at PAX]
Turtle carrying simulator \o/
Off the top of my head (in no particular order)
No Man’s Sky
Uncharted 4
Far Cry: Primal
Hitman
Mirror’s Edge 2
Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
Crackdown 3
Dead Island 2
Dishonored 2
Mafia 3
Lego Marvel’s Avengers
and maybe Quantum Break
Also hoping for a Lego Ghostbusters game
Edit: Oooh, can’t believe I forgot about Firewatch.
Far Cry: Primal looks like it could be very cool
Overwatch
X-Com 2
Doom
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Dishonoured 2
Dreadnought
Fifa 2017 Madden 2017 NBA 2k17 :P.
Lego avengers sounds good as well as firewatch.
XCOM2 is going to rob me of sooo much sleep.
Im still waiting on the next installment of the BMFM franchise
BMFM HD?
There is no 2016, only Fallout.
Seriously, I have no idea what’s coming out next year about from the expected updates to the various annualised franchises – Assassin’s Creed, Call of duty, etc.
Looking at some other answers to this post I could get pretty hype for Mafia 3 since I loved Mafia 2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will probably be great – Human Revolution was awesome. I might check out Crackdown 3 but I didn’t play Crackdown 2 so maybe I’ll just let that one go. I’m not sure about X-Com 2. I loved the recent X-Com reboot but it’s such a stressful game to play I tend to only do one or two playthroughs so for the type of game I feel like I’m not really getting my money’s worth.
No Man’s Sky and Uncharted 4
Persona 5, XCom 2, SMTxFE, Bravely Second, Etrian Odyssey 2: Knight of Fafnir, Odin Sphere: Lehftraiser (spelling?), Nights of Azure, Eitr and a whole bunch of other things I can’t think of right now. 2016 is a very exciting year gamewise.
Hellraid looks promising
Like a FPS Diablo made by the creators of dead island
although vermintide is scratching that itch atm it just needs more content
Horizon Zero Dawn
No Man’s Sky
The Last Guardian
Kingdom Hearts 3
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Final Fantasy 15
World of Final Fantasy
Yes, I’m a Square fan…
Uncharted 4
Quantum Break
FF15
Dishonoured 2
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Street Fighter 5
Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
… But mainly, I want to actually finish what I’ve bought (or have yet to buy) in 2015. My oh my, will I be busy 🙂
Red Dead Redemption 2?
Is 2016 the year we finally get a consumer VR headset?
Also DARK SOULS 3
So many so early in the year
Day one buys
Deus Ex MD
Dark Souls III
Quantum Break
Crackdown 3
Buy when I get a chance
Mirrors Edge Catalyst
Hitman
PvZ Garden Warfare 2
Below
Wait for a review
Battleborn
Unravel
For Honor (?? The Ubisoft sword fighting game)
Save up for a PlayStation
No Man’s Sky
Uncharted 4
Can’t say that anything listed above has me excited. Looks more likely to be a repeat of 2014 than 2015 which is fine with me as I have fallout and a large backlog due to 2015 being awesome.
The three games on my radar for 2016 are Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Uncharted 4 and *fingers crossed* The Last Guardian.
Fire Emblem: Fates (western release), Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mirrors Edge: Catalyst and No Man’s Sky. Overwatch looks interesting, but I pretty much know it won’t replace TF2 as my multiplayer game of choice. Quite liked XCOM EU but XCOM 2 comes after Fire Emblem so I’m definitely not buying XCOM 2 before it slips below my $20 steam threshold.
Actually I’ll probably only buy Fire Emblem: Fates and No Man’s Sky next year and wait for price drops for the rest because I’m basically George Castanza when it comes to money; 3ds games never seem to drop in price and I like to support indie devs with interesting ideas when I can.
Turtle Holding Simulator and Mirror’s Edge. And Uncharted 4, natch.
Maybe, just maybe…. Final Fantasy XV.
Though my money is on Dark Souls 3 being better.
Uncharted 4
Persona 5 (my first one)
Bravely Second
Anything Fire Emblem
The new Deus Ex, probably Mirror’s Edge as well. Also that WoW expansion is coming, I might check that out I guess.
Half Life 3
Star Citizen
Halo 5 with splitscreen
Warcraft 4
Necromancer 2
Bully 2
Psychonauts 2
and hopefully.. this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/309114309/infinity-battlescape
OHH YEAH PSYCHONAU- hold on… :'(
CLICKER HEROES 2! jk 😉
I’m all about ELEX next year! (Providing Piranha Bytes get it done in time – slated for 2016/17).
New open world RPG made by the Gothic team! My hype is already overflowing!
Everyone forgot about The Witness because they took ages on ‘polishing’. Still hope it lives up to the amazing puzzles J.Blow had in Braid
Zelda Wii U. That is if it’s out next year and if it’s on the Wii U.
Other than that I have no idea what’s coming out next year.
Mass Effect: Andromeda, and hopefully the Legend of Zelda.
I discovered a cute indie game at PAX called “Hollow Knight” which I had fun playing and is supposed to be coming out early next year. I’m planning on grabbing that when it’s available.
Red Dead Redemption 2! Right. Right… I won’t hold my breath.
Persona 5, Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Persona 5, Persona 5, Persona 5, No Man’s Sky, Persona 5, Persona 5, Persona 5, Persona 5, Persona 5.
