With Fallout 4’s release the folks at Blizzard might have gotten a bit nostalgic, which could be the reason for this item in patch 2.4 — a legendary gem to be exact — being full of Fallout puns.

Here’s the item, called “Boyarsky’s Chip,” below. It has Leonard Boyarsky’s name, who worked on Diablo III, but was also the art director of Fallout and designed the overall gameplay elements of Fallout 2. It’s also a reference to the first game’s main story with the Water Chip. And the description with underground vaults makes everything clear.

…once inserted into a socket, it will never fall out.

That doesn’t sound promising.
