Today, Fallout 4 receives an update on all platforms that fixes a variety of different bugs, glitches, and technical hiccups. And according to a variety of reports around the web (as well as our own testing), the patch also gets rid of the infamous ‘infinite caps’ glitch available in earlier versions of the game.
Ah, well. It was bound to get patched at some point! Not that you PC players are bothered, I’m sure.
Here’s the official list of things the patch tweaks, per Bethesda:
New Features
- Number pad keys can now be used for remapping (PC)
- Remapping Activate now works on Quick Container (PC)
Fixes
- General memory and stability improvements
- Performance improvements inside the Corvega Assembly Plant
- Optimizations to skinned decal rendering
- Fixed issue with player becoming stuck in terminals
- Fixed issue where equipped weapons become locked after completing Reunions
- Fixed issue with “When Freedom Calls” where the quest would not complete
- During “Confidence Man” fixed issue where player’s health would continuously regenerate
- Fixed crash related to jumping into water and reloading saved games
- Fixed issue where Launcher would not save God Rays Quality setting properly (PC)
Players are reporting a number of other smaller exploits that have been patched, though, so hopefully you weren’t relying too heavily on any cheats!

Just a bit of advice for people who havent done Confidence Man yet
Once completed, Travis’ (the radio DJ) personality will change completely. His voice changes into a more confident man (not really a pun – as the mission title has a double meaning) and is more smooth. So, if you like the current Travis, dont do this mission. As a side note, I am not sure if its the result of this mission or making it to the Institute, but there seems to be a new song on the radio
Alternately, you can do the mission but use a console command to switch him back.
I MUCH prefer awkward Travis, he’s a lot more endearing.Well personally his old voice made me want to tear my ears off so…
No one is worse than three dog from Fallout 3 (IMO). I couldn’t stand his voice for some reason. I know a lot of people seemed to favour him, but I couldn’t listen to him for more than a few intermissions without feeling really annoyed (I think it had something to do with the fact that it sounded like he was sitting on the toilet trying to push one out while he was talking). The original DJ from Diamond City Radio doesn’t seem to have anywhere near that kind of effect on me 😛
ah… Three Dog was alright!
haha totally opposite for me, I loved three dog. Travis has his moments, but more often then not I just want to travel to diamond city and backhand him lol
Nope – that’s when you encounter the singer in the Third Rail – all her songs are added to the mix – if you listen to their lyrics you’ll see they’re all based after the war.
Ah yes and she has that Goodneighbor song – which I thought only came onto my mix after I visited GN
Another glitch has already been posted, its not as good but still works.
or you know just make a heaps of water purefirers and sell the waters thats get cloceted each day, val 20 each so easy money maker.
I’ve had an ongoing glitch where the lightbulbs in my settlements refuse to work as radiant light sources. They go ‘on’ (the bulb turns bright white) but the room and surrounding objects remain dark.
I haven’t checked, but I’ll be heaps happy if that’s one of the minor fixes.
Yeah I’ve taken a break on Fallout 4 hopefully the settlement build glitches get fixed.
I have found with the lights, if you put it back in your settlement inventory then place it again from there it generally resets them. There is some kind of bug that introduces the weird behaviour as you move the lights around.
And brings back ‘Infinite loading + starting the game to a blue circle’ !!!!!!!
For me, the glitch I want to see fixed concerns all the bottles and food items sinking through the shelves in the bar and kitchen in my newly built new mega-structure outside Abenathy farm.
The place looked great – now it’s a shambles… *runs off crying*
Ah – I wondered why the telephone I put on a table in my settlement was now mysteriously on the floor… a glitch
I would really like it if they could make a patch to add some more options to the settings of the PS4 version, mainly gamma settings etc. The game is too dark even in outdoor areas and I’ve had to adjust brightness etc on the TV as the game lacks any ability to do so.
Yeah noticed they’d patched the caps glitch the other day when I went to make an expensive purchase in Vault 81 🙁 Not to worry, used the million and one pipe pistols I have in storage instead 🙂 lol
I have heaps of caps and I haven’t got any cap related perks – or glitch abuse. There isn’t all that much cool stuff to spend them on that I have seen…
Legendaries tend to take up my caps. In vault 81 for example, the trader has 5 or 6 legendaries that ended up costing close to 20k in caps
