It’s funny how depictions of sex in video games need to be introduced in such a cautious, hesitant way like… well, like a virgin, touched for the very first time. Violence as content has been around in games since very early on but sex in mainstream games is still in its early days, taking its first steps and looking around for approval.
The cover of my copy of Witcher 3 for PS4 has an R+ rating for ‘high impact violence and sex’. The violence is visceral for certain, but the sex is more “tasteful” than high impact. There’s nothing there you wouldn’t see on a midday movie on commercial TV, and yet in video game turns it’s R+ rated.
The high impact is more in reference to the violence, high impact isn’t usually attributed to sexual content.
Then they’re doing it wrong.
Howso? Is it really, honestly worth even declaring that sex is ‘high impact’ in a game or movie?
I mean it’s just sex after all. A purely natural thing.
Maybe when you do it…
