Do you talk about video games on Facebook? I guess I do sometimes. Usually a colossal whinge about firmware updates or Bloodborne boss fights.
Apparently video game chatter is big part of Facebook these days. What games are we talking about?
I was actually– honestly — very surprised. Here’s the top ten list:
1. FIFA 15
2. Fallout Shelter & Fallout 4
3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
4. Mortal Kombat X
5. Batman: Arkham Knight
6. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
7. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
8. Dying Light
9. Star Wars Battlefront
10. Halo 5: Guardians
Actually, the more I think about it, the less it surprises me. FIFA 15 at the top seems strange but it is about as mainstream as it gets.
The fact that Mortal Kombat X is so high is also strange. Maybe I live in a gamer’s bubble, but I don’t remember people really getting excited or talking about that game. I’m blown away by the fact it ranks above Star Wars Battlefront.
On that note: I’m surprised Star Wars Battlefront didn’t crack the top 5. I mean, just in terms of the discussion, the Star Wars brand and the exposure its getting in the lead up to The Force Awakens — I thought that might have been enough to put it in the top three or maybe even the top spot. I guess not.
I’m also surprised Fallout 4 is so high. It just goes to show how mainstream the series is now, and how big a deal it was.
Interesting stuff.

Dying light? and no destiny….not what i expected.
Can’t say much about Facebook, but there was definitely a lot of tweeting about it. Mortal Kombat is essentially THE mainstream fighting game in the West (not necessarily mainstream gaming, but mainstream in general), and the slow bleed of DLC characters helped keep discussion afloat after launch, especially with broader cultural icons like Jason Voorhees and the Predator.
Never once heard FIFA mentioned on Facebook…guess it’s my group of friends.
Not surprised about Fallout 4 though. It’s wildly popular and seems to be sprouting memes everywhere.
Also wonder what would’ve rated higher on Facebook, mentions of MGSV itself or mentions of the phrase “A Hideo Kojima Game”?
Not on Facebook – that list though seems to go against the mainstream chat. Kudos to FIFA and MK. It’s an interesting little view on a specific bubble of gamers and FB.
What is facebook?
Is that a PC game?
I think it’s mainly just a reflection of what’s currently trending in the mainstream. i think there’s probably a lot more chatter about CS:GO, DOTA and other games, but they probably take place in microcosms of the gaming community, not really on FB.
I’m frankly overjoyed so many people on here eschew Facebook like I do. No wonder I like the people and discussion on here so much haha.
Pfft facebook? thats so 2005…
Honestly I can’t stand it anymore, deleted my account at the start of this year.
Have not missed it once, feels like there is sooo much less negativity in my life now LOL 😀
