Valkyria Chronicles Is Coming To PS4 In The West

The PlayStation 4 version of beloved strategy-role-playing game Valkyria Chronicles, previously announced for Japan, will also head west this spring, Sega announced today.

This remastered version of Valkyria Chronicles will run at 60 FPS and cost $US30 ($43). Says Sega PR:

Valiant citizens of Gallia, to arms! Bid farewell to your loved ones, because it is time to defend our peaceful nation from the Empire. Valkyria Chronicles, the critically acclaimed PlayStation®3 tactical RPG, will be remastered and released in the Americas and Europe on a brand new battlefront: The PlayStation®4! Valkyria Chronicles Remastered brings the World War II-inspired story, the beloved characters, and the mythology of the Valkyrur to life in 1080p/60fps HD. The game will have both a physical and digital version, and will sell for $US29.99 ($43)/CA$44.99. And as a special bonus, pre-orders and a limited number of launch edition retail copies will come in the collectible Squad 7 Armoured Case.

Still no word on Phantasy Star Online 2.

  • Nice! Now if Square Enix would give us Star Ocean: Second Evolution on PS4, that’d be great. Please and thank you.

  • I always had a weird reception to Valkyria Chronicles. On one hand, I really enjoyed the turn-based gameplay. On the other, the anime-esque characters and story really annoyed me. One particular moment was when the characters and villains are exploring the same ruins. After finding each other they pull out guns, aiming them at the leader, whose very death will end the war… then all promptly run outside to jump into their tanks.

  • I still have the original PS3 version with a load of DLC but never got far into it. Got stumped on having too many low level characters who couldn’t do the damage needed (such as a sniper taking out barrels to make things explode in one hit).
Want to get back into it but not buy it all over again.

  • Loved this and finished it on PS3 back when it first came out. Can’t see myself buying it again, but would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who missed out on the PS3 version.

  • Brilliant game. I bawled :'( You know why

PS3 had no trophies, so I’ll happily play through on PS4; this game deserves platinum!

    • Yeah, that was pretty fucked. I remember texting my brother who had watched the anime (which I had, at the time, actually thought came first), and was like, “Tell me there’s a mulligan for this, or it’s a dream sequence or… SOMETHING I NEED TO KNOW THAT IT WILL BE OK.”
      It was not.

  • Ill be picking this up since i think i didnt finish this, but i hope they release the sequels for the ps4 as well.
