Dayshot: Duriel, with his tiny-arse lair, slow-down aura and incredibly dangerous attacks, is an annoying Diablo II boss to fight. Now, thanks to this piece of fanart, he’s also terrifying to look at. Yay!
The one responsible for Duriel’s HD-ification is one Svein Yngve Sandvik Antonsen, who works as a character artist at Interceptor Entertainment (the Rise of the Triad folks). Turning the Lord of Pain from a lowly sprite (left) into a huge 3D monstrosity took him about a month and a half, judging by the post date on the relevant Polycount thread.
Here’s more images of Duriel:
Sveiny has also done the three other act bosses from Diablo II, and he’s planning to do Baal next. Andariel, whose model is supremely NSFW, can be found here. As for Mephisto and Diablo, here they are:

duriel as an undergeared barb harder than diablo and baal :
You haven’t lived if you haven’t been 1 shot by Duriel. If you played d2, he was pretty much your baptism of fire in the most hardest way possible(unprepared, under-geared, talents all over the place). Yup… wtfbbqpwned.
how many hardcore characters did he claim, I wonder
Yeah first time I always roll a barb and a leap to death is what awaited me 🙁
Holy crap
This just makes me want to boot up D2 ladder again… And then I realise the game has aged terribly and play D3 instead, and THEN realise how much of a POS it is…
Blizz: Re-release D2 exactly as it was, update graphics with models such as these, you’d make a lot of people happy.
EDIT: This just makes me notice how crap the bosses are in D3… Bar Belial (probably still one of my favourite Diablo bosses in the original release of Diablo 3), we have some boring generic dude with a cleaver, captain nipple rings and C-cup Diablo. Malthael just looks like some generic rogue transmog ripped right from WoW with added sickles…
Boring dude with a cleaver? I thought you would recognize that boss while on your nostalgia trip…
Yea I do, but why is he an end act boss? Very underwhelming imo
