What Are You Playing This Weekend?

2016 was supposed to suck, but man. It does not suck.

What I'm playing right now: The Witness, Oxenfree.

They are both pretty spectacular.

Both have their flaws. The Witness, I feel, is way to obtuse in how it guides the players to the puzzles that teach you the rules. That criticism aside, I think it's pretty spectacular.

Oxenfree is a really compelling story that does some properly innovative stuff with dialogue, but the way the main characters undersell the terrifying spookiness of the supernatural happenings... it really takes me out of the moment.

Both those qualms aside, I'm loving both these video games. I'm hoping to get through both games this weekend.

What are you guys and girls playing?

More Dark Souls 2 SotFS, then probably finishing That Dragon, Cancer

Rise of The Tomb Raider. Writing. Maybe something else in my abominable pile of shame :-P

    U wot m8? XCOM2, duh.

      As soon as it's downloaded...

      *Turns to family*

Even with no one home, mine's going at 210kb/s. NBN can't come soon enough.

          1.4 MB/s here, 4 hours and 16 minutes

I can't wait till we have internet so fast that the bottleneck is the hard drive itself

I started preloading yesterday morning, and it'll hopefully be done by around 5pm this afternoon. Probably just in time for my FIL to arrive, when I should be social and not just attach myself to my computer for two days. FWP.

I bought Far Cry 4 when it was on sale on Xbox Live last weekend and it took ages to download and install the 32 gigs so I didn't get around to playing it until last night. So, with any luck, I plan to play a lot of Far Cry 4.

      Me too.... $16... Bargain

I opted to spring for the extra $10 to get the DLC season pass too, no idea if I'll even play it, but I figured why not.

Yep bought it too and sold my disc copy (thankfully I didn't have to re-download it)

Why was 2016 supposed to suck? By all accounts 2015 was the year of delays and 2016 is when all the great games actually get released.
On topic, I'll be playing FF Explorers, Mugen Souls Z and Breath of Fire III mostly. I do want to start Darkest Dungeon so that may end up being a thing too.

Thinking about picking up that cheap Wii U bundle, so maybe that.

Otherwise, Elite Dangerous and Diablo 3 on the Xbone

Come splatoon with us! It's stupid how much I'm still playing this nearly year old game...

Also as a diablo fan, get the bayonetta pack!

Also, Ive been wanting to play.more d3 since they introduced the Aussie servers, but my account was stolen and I can't bring myself to rebuy the pc version. Is the xbone one good? I just got one for Christmas, and the exclusives I've bought so far have left me a little disappointed.

I haven't played enough on the PC to compare them properly but the XBOX version feels really good. I've heard a lot of people say this is what it should have been.

I've played Diablo 3 on PC and consoles, and I prefer consoles. No need to worry about having to log on and being 'always online' (and getting an untimely disconnect while playing hardcore), feels great to play with a controller, and it's super fun when playing couch co-op.

If you're looking for a good Xbone (timed) exclusive, you can't go past Rise of the Tomb Raider. It improves on the original in every way. If you liked the first one, you should pick it up.

Having some fun with Diablo 3, maybe giving Helldivers bit of a go since it is free on PS Plus.

Diablo, Warframe, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Witness... Oh god where did all these games come from?! :P

There was some decent games in the Ubisoft bundle so might try and finish Grow Home (which is super charming BTW) and give the Crew a shot as I've been looking for a racing game.

    Fallout 4
Radneck Rampage (Well visiting ferntree gully anyway)
    Renowned explorers

Started playing The Witness last night. The game is pretty cool but so far the difficulty seems to be over rated. Done the starting area and two and a half of the others so far without any real difficulties at all. I'm waiting for the moment when it gets harder.

LAN party tomorrow, which means RB6: Siege, DayZ and maybe a little Black Ops 3.

After that, I'll probably play some more Rise of the Tomb Raider. Really enjoying it so far.

I love it how you're having a LAN and then only playing online games. Oh how LANS have changed... Just to clarify this isn't a criticism just a note. My LAN's involve a lot of DOTA2.

I do get the irony, it's more so the fact we enjoy playing as a squad against other players, but by actually meeting up for a "LAN" party we can do it while shit talking, drinking, eating etc :p

Platinum for Lego Dimensions (Yes I am a giant man child)

Maybe some Helldivers with the community reinvigorated due to Plus.

Might play some more of the swapper. it was only $3 on xbox live and it's a decent little puzzle platformer and I'm reading too much into the story. Other than that, might start some design work for a prop I want to make.

Fractured Space, Adventure capitalist, Heroes of the Storm, Rocket League, and then to finish the weekend off probably some Rise of the Tomb Raider, its been staring at me long enough

I just splurged a bit in the recent Humble and GMG specials so I might bounce between Helldivers, Dragons Dogma, and maybe finally mess around with some Dead Rising 3

...thankfully the latest Nvidia update stopped the constant crashing in Windows 10 as long as I have SLI disabled so I can play proper 3D games again!

I'm not entirely sure. Diablo 3 probably. I started Rise of the Tomb Raider when it came out on Xbone but didn't make it far. Maybe I'll dive back in to that.

Rise of the Tomb Raider, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth.

Will keep me busy for a long time.

Don't care who sees, but I'm going to get an emulator and get an ISO of Dave Mirra 1 and 2 for the DC as I can't get them legit anymore. Dude was found dead today :( Used to play that all the time. Crack open a few tinnies, tonight, play a few rounds with some mates in remembrance of one of our heroes when we were teens. RIP Dave Mirra. :(

But after that... a whole lotta XCOM 2

Yeah I just heard about that. RIP Dave.

      Sad sad day indeed !!!

Stuck in a rut. Played far too much Trails of Cold Steel far too quickly & need a break.

Probably try to finish Alien Isolation, love the atmosphere but the gameplay is frustrating & it's a few hours too long.

Also near the end of Super Meat Boy & for the first time I have no idea what I need to do. Had trouble pulling things off before, but I'm actually stumped.

Agree with you re Alien Isolation being too long. The first 2/3 or so is brilliant, the last 1/3 felt like they were just trying to stretch it out way beyond where it needed to go.

More MGS 5, and I'll play chapter 3 of Life Is Strange.

Grim Fandango, never played it when it came out, nows my chance. Got the entire weekend to do it.
