Don’t get me wrong! I like McDonald’s as much as the next person. I also like how much better it looks as anime.

In Japan, the service at McDonald’s, and any another fast food restaurant, is generally quite good. The chain recently released a clip to, hopefully, inspire young people to get part-time jobs there.

The poster reads, “Let’s become cool”, or better yet, simply, “Become cool”. [GIF via McDonald’s]

In the clip, which was animated by the Tokyo-based Studio Colorido, a schoolgirl, played by AKB48 member Rin Okabe, gets a gig at the fastfood chain and overcomes her shyness as well as dealing with teens asking for a “free smile”.

But the best part is how the food looks.

Rather, how making the food looks.

This makes me want to go to McDonald’s.

  • Its bothering me that the mustard and the ketchup were put on the burger in the wrong order. also the ketchup dispenser has 2 dispenser setting but they cloned the image of the mustard dispenser to save on animation. Only a former maccas employee could get picky about this but the ingredients order is drilled into your head constantly with pictures and compulsory online tutorials you have to do. I haven’t worked there for years and I still feel like I could make a big mac blindfolded.

    • I don’t know where you worked but the order and dispensers were like the animation in my branch.

    • You noticed that too? I too could probably make a tray of Big Mac’s faster than most of the kids they employ there these days… Also while blindfolded.

  • Whenever I think of anime McDonalds I always think of the brilliantly funny series “The Devil is a Part-timer” The hilarious story of Satan losing his powers and getting a job at McRonalds.

  • The amount of fries scooped up would not fill a large fry pack, despite what is shown here.

  • Interestingly how most commons here are people brag about been able to make big mac blindfolded or how much fries can you scoop up in one go……

  • After seeing the countless sneaky ways anime shows have included Maccas over the years without actually naming them, it’s kinda unnatural to see it for real. I keep expecting to see WcDonards on the signs or something.

  • Now, if JAL would do over their flight safety videos as anime they would be more interesting than the dross they have now. With their links to Studio Ghibli I could imagine various Miyazaki characters demonstrating the correct way of putting luggage away in storage, or using a life preserver, or buckling up your seat belt.
