If you have big muscles and like video games and anime, perhaps you can cosplay. Drefan does, and he’s terrific at it.
After injuries sidelined Drefan in his early twenties from competitive sports, he continued to follow his love of video games (and anime), eventually taking up cosplay. He’s quick to point out that he’s not a competitive bodybuilder, but does work out a couple times a week. (You can read his Facebook page for more info about his exercise routines and thoughts about fitness.)
“I work out about three times a week, but I make sure I hit each body part at least once,” he says. “More focus on weak parts or parts that are involved in upcoming cosplays. Hahaha!”
But it’s a mistake to think that it’s only Drefan’s muscle mass that helps him pull of these cosplay. His facial expressions, wigs, poses and costumes are also great. The combination of all of them help lead to wonderful photos like these:

You missed the best Zangief cosplay by Taichi Shimizu
I think there might be (or at the very least used to be, for a significant period of time) something else in his regime that he’s not telling us about…
lol @ asians with muscles.
The Synthol is strong
You obviously don’t know what synthol use looks like if you think he’s been using it. You’re just jealous.
I dunno, I’m on the fence. Something is going on. He’s really yoked, but at the same time has a tiny waist, yet his body fat is up around 15%. Definitely on the bike, but not sure what.
Also, anoteros could be correct. Just because someone says synthol, don’t automatically picture Greg Valentino.
Lol I love how this has degraded into a bunch of lifters/MISC’ers speculating, me included.
The guy with the constantly erect nipples is juicing *and* has pec/ab and whatever is under his armpit implants. They are way too symmetrical. Notice the difference in the bottom shot which is obviously pre plastic.
Juicing… probably, implants? I doubt it man. I think what you’re looking at is mostly due to the fact he has makeup/body paint for most of the pics. He’s got a big chest, but hes got a pretty big everything. Calves are good indicator and his a pretty big.
Yup, his legs are big. So are his arms. And they have veins showing through like someone who works those areas. But his pecs and abs don’t, and along with the near perfect symmetry he’s displaying *without flexing* are a massive giveaway.
*edit* But since we both agree he’s juicing anyway, he’s still a little pissant narcissist who needs a crutch.
Dude, he doesn’t have any abs showing. He draws those in with body paint or makeup. Also, the beach picture is heavily photoshopped and terribly cropped.
Annnnnnd welcome to the reason I don’t cosplay. While people talk a lot about how women “have to” be thin & busty to pull off their characters, there’s very little talk about how most male characters have to be walking muscle masses in order to do theirs. As a slightly overweight around the gut male, I get shamed out of attempting any character because I’m not the right body type.
I’ll admit, for just a brief moment, my very first thought was, “I can never cosplay, ever.”
I had a gun-nut Marine try to call me out on not having big enough biceps to legitimately cosplay a Space Wolf. That sort of bs doesn’t fly with me and, along with all the substance talk above, shouldn’t be tolerated. What difference does it make if he takes anything or has implants? How does that affect anyone but him in the slightest?
Oh god I choked on my tea after seeing those crazy action figure bodies.
I can cosplay any fat kung fu guy.
Drefran’s been a huge inspiration for me in terms of mixing cosplay and fitness. Hope he keeps it up.
