Count me among the people who believe anime was better when they were a lad.
I used to watch a lot of anime, but now I kinda don’t. What should I be watching?
The last anime that I watched and loved was One Punch Man. Before that? Well, I didn’t really like Attack on Titan. I thought Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt was a bit off. I think the last anime before OPM that I fell in love with was Gurren Lagann.
Damn, that was a long time ago.
What are you all watching? What would you recommend?

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and Erased.
Erased is a much watch series !
Nothing new but I’ve been catching up on Naruto, at least to the point where the manga and anime co-inside. Skipping all filler. Need to do the same with One Piece too as I haven’t watched that since the start of the Dressrosa arc.
The only ones I have any affection for were coincidentally the ones that SBS really put time and effort into screening back in the day. Evangelion and the Ghost in the Shell SAC series were probably out-dated and out-classed later on but it was great to see SBS experiment with making something niche available to the mainstream.
Eva and GitS are still more relevant than all the anime coming out today. Not to say there isn’t any anime still worth watching but it has mostly devolved into immature story lines with no real world themes or intellectual discussion. Just look at one punch man, a gigantic success that is especially appealing to lapsed anime watchers is basically a parody.
Erased is pretty fantastic. Scratches that Death Note itch, it’s concise and there’s no filler.
I didn’t like death note but I loved Erased. I can’t help thinking that it’s similar to Another, another anime I loved
The anime I’ve ever watched that isn’t Dragon Ball Z is One Piece, of which I’m only about a hundred episodes in.
I know it’s not “new anime”, but whatever.
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar is a pretty good “Stuck in a fantasy land” drama. I cannot stress it enough. It’s not action even though it has action scenes, it’s a character drama.
It’s a fairly relaxing watch except for a few very intense scenes.
You’re like me!
Didn’t watch anything until One Punch Man, now we’re following Gate and Erased. Erased is definitely recommended while Gate is very fun to watch 🙂
Also didn’t like Attack on Titan – they should all just die. Hate animes that have shitty characters and/or no development.
Erased is also called Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
Finished watching Physchopass and Log Horizon recently.
Both exceptional Anime with little to no filler
Also i finished Hunter X Hunter around 6 months ago, which ranks in my top 5 of all time.
Been watching Gate, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, Konosuba, World Conquest Zvezda Plot and my guilty pleasure, A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist
Funny asking about new animes… when they are wrapping up and the next quarter is about to start. Erased & Gate as mentoined above by others are stsnd out.
Im liking World Trigger as its a large continuing weekly series 70 episodes in, technology battle school series.
Log Horizon or Sword Art Online if your a gamer.
Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. It has the pace we all wanted from Sword Art but ironically that pace only gets a 12 episode season as far as say episode 3 of SAO. It plays out like a novel reads & thankfully lacks a fair amount of the typical anime tropes one usually comes across. Not completely but refreshingly more so then most.
It’s a great, interesting & well produced show. The sleeper hit of the season I like to think.
I’m re-watching Code Geass R2 at the moment.
There are a few simulcasts I’m enjoying though.
– Assassination Classroom
– Gate
– Grimgar of Fantasy & Ash
– Heavy Object
– Mobile Suite Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
– Schwarzesmarken
Waiting on the new Jojo series “Diamond is Unbreakable”!!
this is an oldie, but still one of my favourites.

Stopped watching anime years ago because I got fed up with the inbred landscape of themes and vocal inflections; I get it anime, every character exchange has to be overwrought and bombastic.
However, I watched Attack on Titan and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood recently. Narrative is still curb-stomped to make way for tired bullshit and tropes.
Haven’t watched any anime since One Punch Man finished.
About to start Infector Selected WIXOSS or whatever the hell it’s called, and also maybe see what all this Jojo raving by the internet in general is all about.
Because Naruto is in fillers mode (and I mean bad enough that even I won’t watch it), I’m basically dead, but I decided to give Osomatsu-san a go a couple days ago. Nothing can really be worse than the filler I have endured for the sake of Naruto, so I don’t know if it means anything, but it’s okay. Fair warning though, I can’t distinguish the main characters yet. Who knows when I will.
I really don’t feel like getting invested in another serious anime right now.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
I just heard that there’s going to be an Ace Attorney anime starting this season. SOLD.
@markserrels: You kind of chose the wrong week to ask this – current season just ended and there’s a new season kicking off this weekend. Also last season pretty much sucked.
I know what Anime I’m NOT watching currently; Attack on fking Titan Season 2…. For god’s sake hurry it up people…
