Super Metroid boss Phantoon steps into Ridley’s shoes by surprising Samus in artist Elianai dos Santos’ fan-art (via TheOmegaNerd).
It’s a superb, colourful piece, in the silly style of ’90s cartoons. Here’s the full pic with Ridley crawling in the background.

90s Saturday morning cartoon? Not really :/
The artist says it was inspired by the movie poster for 1968’s The Green Slime. This is pretty cool.
I’d love to see Metroid as an animated movie or series. Maybe one day Nintendo will enter into some sort of partnership with an animation studio, such as DC. Sigh.
I wish they built on this short they did for Kid Icarus and turned it into a full series. So good, got that goofy Saturday Morning vibe down perfect, much like Uprising did for a good deal of it. That one was way better than the other shorts they did, too.
So long as they pick a better voice than Audrey 2 for Mother Brain this time, I’m down.
