Even Fox News Is Mad About The Division

Everyone’s bummed out about The Division these days, from internet message boards to cable news channels.

Ubisoft’s online shooter is going through some growing pains, and although the folks at developer Massive have been updating the game on a regular basis, they can’t seem to stop all the exploits. People have been complaining rather loudly about it for the past few weeks. Even Fox News is chiming in.

On a segment that aired last week during Fox’s Red Eye show, host Andy Levy (a longtime gamer) read out a list of “skills every 18-year-old should have” that was mostly full of helpful life advice. It ended with a jokey tip — “Be able to gear up your character in The Division” — and Levy couldn’t help but offer his own commentary.

“Be able to gear up your character in The Division, despite the way Massive nerfed the crafting system and allows packs of super-geared rogues to gank you in the Dark Zone — thanks a lot, jerks,” Levy said. “I may have added that last one on my own.”

Poor The Division. Exploits are no fun.

  • I just started playing this yesterday, the DZ scares me lol. Not something I want to do on my own. Aside from the groups of heavily armoured shits in the DZ, what other issues are people facing? My time in the standard area has been good, except for the time I tried to do a level 12 mission while I was level 9

    • tbh you’ll find the 1 to 30 leveling experience to be pleasantly decent (except for the whole falling through world bit which happens rarely) and you might even feel you got your money’s worth depending on how much you pay for The Division

it’s really the level 30 post leveling content that’s sinking the game (and there the bugs are most glaring). PVE wise you have 3 options. hardmode (which is actually fairly easy even for a fresh level 30), challenge mode (there’s only 4 option to choose from) and one incursion (which is basically horde mode with no checkpoints).

if you want to be the best agent ever… you’ll have to grind levels in the Darkzone and then craft items, there’s no alternative and in the DZ basically where all the hacks / exploits / overpowered people (or groups) are. more often then not you’ll be unlucky and get a teleporting agent who one shots you faster then you can go “OMG”.

      • Pretty much this. Once you hit the DZ, you find yourself up against people with so much free time that they capped out their DZ rank long ago and downs all of their time roaming in Rogue packs. And good luck running away once they spot you, as some can induce bleeding effects from 50+ metres without firing a single shot. As for teleporting players, yep: had four rank 77+ rogues appear out of nowhere around me in a sewer very recently.

I don’t even play it anymore, it’s so unbalanced.

  • I’m amazed that he used the verbs ‘nerf’ and ‘gank’ unironically in a single coherent sentence on a televised news program.
