There are new Tomb Raider movies coming, which means a new cinematic Lara Croft. And while Camilla Luddington did a fantastic job in the last two games, the big screen role has gone to Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander.
Vikander (who I loved in Man From U.N.C.L.E.) is going to be playing a similar Croft to that seen in 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot, in that this movie is going to be a prequel, showing what Nerdist says is “Lara Croft as a yet-untested raider embarking on her first adventure”.
Roar Uthaug (The Wave) will be directing.

Disappointing for Camilla Luddington
The reboot Lara is pretty cool.
For a “franchise” thing it would have been a neat way to tie the games and movies together and provide consistency for a bit. Also would be big brake moment for her.
Yes! Finally some progress on this movie!
This is a prequel to the game? It’s been a while since I last played it but wasn’t the 2013 reboot “Lara Croft as a yet-untested raider embarking on her first adventure”?
I really hope that changes as we’ve already had a reboot. Maybe the movie could focus on events between TR 2013 and ROTTR.
She will be playing a Lara Croft that is similar to the one in the 2013 reboot, that is, the 2013 reboot was a prequel and this film will be a prequel as well.
I’m getting so sick of all these multiple origin stories.
People aren’t stupid, we know how they got from A to B, stop re-hashing shit.
Is this supposed to tie in with the latest games, or are they just synergistically rebooting the movies alongside the games because the recent franchise reboot has been so successful?
Followed by the inevitable porno version “Nude Raider” or “Womb Raider”.

Oh look another 50kg waif playing an arse kicking hero. That shit is not getting old at all…
Clicked cause I thought that was Hannah New. Was very disappointed.
