Oh Yeah, A New Deus Ex Is Coming Out Soon

Video: Here is your reminder that in addition to Uncharted 4, Overwatch, No Man's Sky, Star Ocean 5, Zero Time Dilemma, Final Fantasy XV, Mafia III, Danganronpa 3, Gears of War 4, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Doom and all of the other cool-looking games scheduled for the next few months, not to mention all the stuff that will be announced at E3 for this spring (like Watch Dogs 2), there's also a new Deus Ex. Yep, the folks at Eidos Montreal have been quiet about their next game for a few months now, since they announced that it was delayed from this past February to August 24. But it's worth remembering, because Deus Ex: Human Revolution was excellent. New trailer above.

    There's a 3rd Danganronpa?
Hopefully that on top of ZTD and Mankind Divided make this a better year.
I was so burned on MGSV and Arkham Knight which were my two big hopes last year...

Probably the only game I'm willing to drop cash full price day one for a couple of years.

The first one (as in HR) took a while for me to get into, but once it did I was hooked. Cannot wait for this. Fingers crossed they pull it off.

Just when I thought I was finished with RPGs forever...

Probably more of an FPS than an RPG if HR is anything to go by. The RPG elements in HR were really simplified and pared down, more like Mass Effect 2 than the first (and, in my opinion, superior) Mass Effect. Although that said the pared down RPG elements fit a lot better with HR than a fully fledged set would and in no way do I consider HR worse for that.

Oh I know. I played HR through at least 4 times. And Mass Effect 2.

That's why I'm trying to quit RPGs. It's just too many hours down the rabbit hole.

Fair enough. I never played any of the more involved RPGs (Mass Effect was probably as close as I'm going to get) but I've heard a fair few people bemoan the amount of time it can take to play them.

it depends on your personality. I'm the kind of person who ends up doing every damn quest. Feels great to cross them off the list. But it means uber-hours required.

If you're the kind of person who can leave all the loose threads hanging and JUST do the story missions, then it's not a problem. Probably the best way to play the game because you can go back and do more if you want to. It's not me though. We're talking hundreds of hours. Well over a thousand when we combine Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Deus Ex and the Witcher series.

Games are great but they don't really make my life better. Just a great way to waste time. Now that i'm getting older I don't want to waste time anymore.

I will make time for Deus Ex 2 though. I still remember paying top dollar for the original back in '98. Never regretted it. Lovely game. Played it through a few times with different builds etc.

Does it incorporate the choice you made at the end of Human Revolution? If so, how?

I attended the Mankind Divided panel at PAX Aus last year and someone asked this question. What it boils down to is that while you sent out the video, with all the augmented people going crazy and murderous at the time, there weren't many people who were all that receptive of it.
I doubt it'll count the ending where the facility is destroyed. In my playthrough of HR I wasn't able to save the helicopter pilot when she was attacked, so I don't know if that would be an issue for the sequel.

I think the helicopter pilot dying is hardwired. That's happened in every playthrough I did. Cool fight at that part though!

No, you can save her, you've just got to be quick enough about it. It's pretty tough, especially if you're playing as a pacifist on give me Deus Ex, but it's certainly doable and very satisfying when you pull it off without killing anyone.
