Morning friends. It’s Dark Souls III week.
It’s here. It’s finally here. I’ve been playing it for the last couple of weeks — it’s good. It’s very good indeed.
What else is out? Not much really. BUT Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is finally out on PC. That was one of my favourite games of 2015, so if you haven’t played already on PS4, I thoroughly recommend it.
What are you guys planning to pick up this week?
Dark Souls III (Xbox One/PS4/PC)
What is it? It’s Dark Souls III. It’s finally here this week. Tomorrow to be precise.
Should you care? I’ve been playing for about 15 hours. It’s really, really good.
Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture (PC)
What is it? Oh man, this game is coming to PC this week. Yes!
Should you care? I love this game. Yes, you should absolutely care.
Goetia (PC)
What is it? A point and click adventure that looks spooky as shit.
Should you care? Not the greatest production values, but man the voice acting seems great. Looks worthwhile.
prog.1 (PC)
What is it? A strange looking 2D puzzle platformer.
Should you care? Man, I feel like this is super intriguing. Click the above link to check it out.
Ratchet & Clank (PS4)
What is it? Yep, there’s a new Ratchet & Clank game coming out this week. Surprise!
Should you care? Hard to imagine this not being solid. I can’t see it being a return to absolute greatness, but this series always delivers.
Stories: The Path of Destinies (PC)
What is it? This is sorta like a Bastion thing. Narrator talking you through an action adventure.
Should you care? Looks alright actually!
Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments!

Nothing for me this week except the Wasteland Workshop for Fallout.
Ooh and Star Wars on blu ray 😀
Ratchet and Clank physical is out next week so is this the digital version? Every article so far has said both this week and next within the same article.
Also out this week:
Skullgirls: 2nd Encore Vita (For reals this time in theory)
The Park (PS4)
Code of Princess (PC)
Ratchet and Clank all the way
So does this mean nothing but DS3 articles all week Serrels? lol
Big updates to Destiny and Division too.
Not new release tho
GOTTA ROLL FAST
I would pray and slaughter a lamb to the Game-Gods if it meant DS3 would break release date…..
I *know* EB have the copies locked away in their little rooms! Just give me one damnit!
Been waiting for this day since E3 one more day!!! \[T]/
Dark Souls \o/
I haven’t preordered. Not sure where to get it from.
There’s this website Press Start who usually run articles on where sells the cheapest in Aus – I find that handy 🙂
Just looked and they haven’t posted anything.
They usually post the day before or at least the night before for games, basically real close to the actual release 🙂
Big W has it for $78
I’m pretty sure this is the cheapest – Target is $79 and thanks to the disinterest of The Good Guys, The Reject Shop err I mean Kmart and the collapse of Dick Smith it’s basically now a two horse race for best price
Target/Big W may have it for ‘cheap’ (79$ -89$) on release
dark souls, eh didn’t enjoy it
dark souls II, eh it’s ok, got bored…
Bloodborne, well this is interesting, but I suck and can’t get far into the game
dark souls III, maybe I should try it out?
Not trying to be a turd, but you’re probably wasting your time with DS3.
Dark Souls – Got up to the Capra Demon and stopped. Never bought DS2. Don’t have a PS4 for Bloodborne, DS3 I’m strangely curious about, no idea why, I’ve barely paid any attention to it.
I would say no because bloodborne was the easiest in the series so would properly have a lot of trouble with dark souls 3
From what I hear, DS3 is going down Bloodborne’s theming a little more – more eldritch horror theming than past DS games had, which is part of the reason I’m so hyped for it, despite knowing I’ll probably never finish it.
It all comes down to *why* you didn’t enjoy it – did you find the combat too slow? It’ll be a bit faster in this one. Found BB’s combat too fast? DS3’s combat will still be slower than BB’s. Didn’t like the theme of the originals but liked BB’s? Give it a shot. Found it too hard? DS games require a great deal of patience and have a fairly steep learning curve.
Just because you can’t beat it doesn’t mean it’s not worth playing… but if you feel you can’t get more than a few boss into it, it might not worth it to you.
I’m fairly bad at these games – I quit DS1 when I hit a boss I felt I could not beat, about halfway through, but kept reading up on the lore and that hooked me on the series. Hit a similarly difficult boss in DS2, but persevered and beat him, eventually finishing the base game, then quit the DLC before even finding a boss because it seemed to be difficult for its own sake. Got 4-5 bonfires into SotFS before I gave up because I didn’t like the way durability worked – had to keep a backup weapon just to get between bonfires because they kept breaking. Got to BloodStarved Beast in BB, and gave up after a while because there were other games I wanted to play at the time. Considering he’s optional, I’ll probably go back and continue, one day. They updated SotFS so that durability isn’t an issue anymore, you should give it another go at some stage.
Same with Bloodborne, the whole thing is excellent.
Don’t feel bad about bringing in help with bosses for Bloodborne, I had a co-op partner (randomly found each time) help me with the bosses, but solo’d each area. Where as DS2 I made a pact to myself to solo the game + the bosses (I played SotFS after BB) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Even on BB new game+(++++) still get a co-op on some bosses.
I generally play them offline, because I find the invasions too impeding. Unfortunately, that also precludes co-op summons. Besides, I’d have never got past the mirror knight… Was hard enough to nearly stop me from playing completely as it was. 😛
I found DS slow, BB was better, I did/do enjoy BB but I end up giving up after dying too many times in a row then don’t play it for months.
I really like the idea of the games, but dying over and over and running the same area again and again gets old fast for me.
I get the whole learning curve and patience etc, buuuut these days I just prefer drop in/drop out gameplay.
Just waiting on my Dark Souls III key so I can start preloading (if Steam allows it).
Biggest things for me this week are The Division Incursions update, and the new Destiny patch.
Super keen for DS3, but not in an insane hurry.
Are you playing Division on PC? I’m just about to crack 30, haven’t spent much time in the DZ so far, but definitely keen for the Incursions update this week.
DARK SOULS 3!!! gonna be so good, I can’t wait to panic roll off a ledge just like old times. Does everyone have their starting class picked out?
Deprived 🙂
Nice, I haven’t gotten up the nerve to do a deprived run yet. Maybe this will be the game though
do it, start naked and new!
I’ve been running through ds1 without any armor because holy crud that super fast roll is awesome … but at the same time I’m a giant weenie who normally runs a strength/faith cleric becasue damn those extra heals are handy. Maybe for the second run though.
When you’re ready I will believe in you!
Is there anything special about choosing Deprived? I like the idea of starting from scratch so I chose it in Dark Souls II and III, and each time I’ve felt like 20 minutes of killing stuff was enough to get me where I’d start if I chose another class. I put about an hour last night into Dark Souls III and I’ve got my dual wield Deprived character set up pretty well.
Personally for me it’s that I feel like I have greater control over my stats whenever I level up, and in DS3 it seems to start with lvl. 10 for everything which is a nice baseline I feel
I want to try Assassin and my son is already planning his Pyro run
I’ve got Ratchet & Clank as April 20th. Also, despite not ever having played any Dark/Demon/Blood Souls, I’ll probably give DS3 a crack. It looks beautiful.
Ratchet and Clank needs more love. That game looks amazing.
