In a post on the PlayStation blog, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that some copies of Uncharted 4 have ended up in the wrong hands -- mainly because those hands stole them.
According to the long-serving Sony executive, a number of Uncharted 4 discs were stolen during shipping and have ended up in the hands of British gamers. We already know the latter happened because Amazon and other retailers accidentally began selling copies early, but this is the first time theft has been mentioned.
We have some unfortunate news to report that a number of copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End were stolen while in transit. While we are continuing to work with the police to resolve the matter — which is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation — it appears that a few copies of the game have surfaced in the UK.
Yoshida stresses that being an Uncharted game, the story is paramount to the experience -- and because of what happened, there's going to be a fair few trolls looking to ruin the plot for everyone else.
"An extremely talented team has worked long and hard to bring Nathan Drake’s greatest adventure to life and we would urge you to help us prevent this from being spoiled by purchasing copies of the game ahead of the launch date," he added.
Uncharted 4 is due out globally for PS4 on May 10.
