Tyler1, a popular League of Legends streamer who recently made a name for himself as a poster boy for toxic behaviour in the game, has been “indefinitely” banned by Riot.
Previously a relatively small-timer on Twitch, Tyler1’s popularity exploded earlier this month after word got out that his streams featured non-stop trolling, including everything from abusive language to intentional feeding.
(Warning: NSFW language in the video below)
While Tyler1 found that there’s a receptive audience for this kind of #content — he has 98,899 Twitch followers at time of writing — some big pro LoL players, like Doublelift, had begun to speak out against his behaviour:
LoL developers Riot, intent on battling the perception that their game is full of toxic players, weren’t impressed either. Over the weekend, he was banned indefinitely:
Hey all,
Instant Feedback catches the most unsportsmanlike players in League, but some people go out of their way to continue ruining games for the community. Because of a well-documented history of account bans for verbal abuse, intentional feeding, as well as account sharing/purchasing, evasion of sportsmanship systems, and player harassment, we will not allow Tyler1 to hold a League of Legends account, indefinitely. Any account definitively used by him will be banned immediately upon identification.
We know we’re not perfect, and this dragged on too long, but we want you to know when the rare player comes along who’s a genuine jerk, we’ve still got your back.
For his part, Tyler1 does not appear to give a damn.
There are some interesting comments below Riot’s statement from players and fans questioning why Tyler1 was banned while other high-profile troll players remain unpunished. Like this:
Riot don’t be hypocrites…banning Tyler1 whilst you allow Kaceytron and Nicktron continue to ruin the community for so long now. Why don’t you do the same thing for them? Those are bad members (if we can call those two that) of the LoL community. If you are going to show rough Justice on players of this game, be balanced and show it to all. As I said, Kaceytron and Nicktron are still playing this game and yet you’ve done absolutely nothing agaisn’t them. Yet you ban Tyler1? Hypocrisy!

Think that last guy needs to look up what a hypocrite is…that would be if Riot banned a toxic player and then went and showed toxic behavior themselves.
All they’ve done in this instance is decide to ban one particular popular toxic player. Doesn’t stop them from banning more in the future, and as they’ve admitted they were a bit slow to act. This might just be the first step to take down more of the popular toxic players.
Riot only ban toxic players that are not big shot streamers. Always been that way.
Is Tyler not a “big shot streamer” now? He was constantly in the top viewed league channels on twitch after all that exposure over the last month.
Wouldn’t consider him big shot at all since he only got famous because he is being toxic.
Wouldnt being one of the top watched LoL streamers in the world qualify you as a big shot streamer regardless of how you gained that popularity?
People are just watching him being toxic and trolling people, it really didn’t matter what game it was, in this context he was just doing it with LoL.
Try asking Riot to ban their top players, which are already confirmed by the community as extremely toxic players. Difference being, those top players are good, whether toxic or not but this dude, plain toxic.
Not to mention the other players probably being toxic in their own private time and show a good face during stream but this guy don’t give a shit and trying to see how far he could go anyway.
Difference is huge, don’t praise a scumbag for being a scumbag.
All i’m saying is, once you get over Xthousand views everytime you are streaming then I consider that being a big shot streamer. Being toxic or how you got there is irrelevant IMO.
Are you saying the top streamers get away with stuff others wouldnt, because they are good? Because Tyler1 is one of the best Draven players in NA..and Grossie Gore just got a perm ban (albeit not for toxicity) and he was one of the best TF players out as well as a top LoL streamer.
For the record I agree with the ban and think it’s well deserved.
Well i guess he deserved it. Most gamers play games for fun, if someone wants to be a dick and violate rules set to keep it friendly this you’re going to get in shit lol
You see people who are getting up in arms about Tyler1 getting banned but Kaycetron still being around are forgetting one important aspect. As much as Tyler1 was a dick he was still like challenger or master tier. Kaycetron at best was like gold what ever. Now if you troll in gold it’s honestly not a big deal it’s definitely an ass hole move but the level of play just isn’t that high to make such an impact. Now this master and challenger tier if you’re trolling or feeding well now your messing with people’s actual jobs. A lot of the high level people are pros or trying to make it into pros so there is a lot more importance to your rank and performance. Trolling in high Elo is just more of a detriment to others that either have made it to the top or are almost there.
