Against all odds, Goat Simulator came out in 2014. Against more odds, it continues to exist as a real video game that’s very dumb, but pretty fun for a couple hours. Last year, it got an expansion that made fun of zombie games. Now it’s taking aim at Star Citizen, of all things.
Star Citizen is Chris Roberts still-unfinished spiritual successor to Wing Commander. The space sim has raised $US114 million (157.7 million) in crowdfunding, but it’s still far from the living, breathing, persistent universe players were promised. It’s got some damn impressive pieces, but nobody’s entirely sure when they will all stick together.
All that in mind, here’s the Steam description of the new Goat Simulator expansion, Waste of Space.
Key features
-Visit space today or get old waiting for that other space game that you already paid for
-Crowdfund a space colony and get other people to pay for it and do all the work!
-Endless space full of planets to visit. but seriously it would take forever to go there so why bother
-There is one planet nearby though. Go to that one
-Fly and shoot stuff in space, because nobody makes games about flying and shooting in space anymore
-Learn how to be a real bridge commander like that spock dude from mars or whatever
-The biggest map in goat simulator history, filled to the brim with exclusive content. I know PR. Hire me Valve!
-No crew member will be left unromanced
And here’s a video:
So its core plot is a ham/goat-fisted send-up of Star Citizen, but it also crams in jokes about every other space game and movie ever. It’s not the most timely or pointed humour ever, but that’s never been Goat Simulator‘s bag. It is both figuratively and literally a game about chewing the scenery, a slapstick journey through space, time and zombies.
The short version? Its tagline is #makespacegreatagain. That should tell you just about everything you need to know.

Waste of Space?
That sums up Goat Simulator in three words.
-No crew member will be left unromanced
huehuehue
With the adult content off (there’s a handy filter) this game gets a lot of play in our family.
Would never she’ll out actual money on this game. Happy it’s gonna be free on Xbone next month though. I’ll download it for a couple of dumb hours.
I personally found this to look hilarious
Well, that video was worth the price of admission.
Its $9 at the local EB’s at the moment. Not sure if thats a country wide price, or just a local sale (they moved to a new location and reopened yesterday so…), but I WAS tempted just for the lolz.
If you have an Xbox One it will be free next month, Otherwise it’s $2.49 on Steam
This was one of the ones with DLC – zombies one I think it was. Still not tempted enough, but it did catch my eye.
Sigh – Ok it’s also making fun of rest of Space Genre.
The Star Trek/Wars jokes – the Mass Effect romances – Endless space full of planets to visit. but seriously it would take forever to go there so why bother (No Mans Sky and Elite).
I mean it’s also heavily making fun of Star Citizen and it’s actually a Parody with effort put into it so I have to admit they’ve earned that right.
