Paradox, White Wolf File ‘Computer Game’ Trademark For Vampire Bloodlines

I think we could all do with a new CRPG based on White Wolf’s World of Darkness, especially after the drawn-out development and eventual cancellation of the MMO. Well, we might just get our wish if the publisher’s most recent trademark application is anything to go by.

Spotted by the folks over at RPG Codex, White Wolf — which is currently owned by Paradox Interactive — filed a trademark for “Vampire Bloodlines” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in late April, however, it appears it was placed with Europe’s Office of Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) as far as back in October.

What is the trademark for exactly? I’ll let the application talk for itself:

For: downloadable publications in relation to role-playing games; downloadable publications in relation to computer games; video game software; application software for mobile phones; computer game software

Whether this trademark leads to a game remains to be seen. It could simply be Paradox / White Wolf keeping the doors open for a title, or perhaps gearing up for republishing the WoD rulebooks in a new electronic form.

Still, it’s a space we’ll certainly be watching closely.
