Space combat/trading MMO EVE Online has a new expansion called Citadel. Even as someone who doesn’t play the game, I am very impressed by the scale of what’s going on here.
I mean… look at the size of those stations. These are things that groups of players in the game can actually build, own and use, with the largest stations big enough to house docking bays for the game’s massive super-capital ships.
They’re not just trophies, either; as you’ll see at the end of clip, they also explode, meaning the game’s famously punchy factions are going to have a blast blowing each other’s big fancy houses up.
What I like best, though, is how — like EVE’s ships — these stations look cool. Too many sci-fi video games are brought down a peg by having their designs look like they fell out of a cheap ’90s TV series. EVE’s citadels look sharp, unique and worth every penny players are going to have to spend on them.

Suru Sully is my in-game name.
Ive been super keen to try it out. I’ve jumped in once about 5 years ago ans left because I was quite confused. How’s the learning curve? And how’s the ping for Aussies?
its really steep and difficult if done alone. i learnt more in 2 weeks in a newbie corp than i did in 2 years casual solo play. Join any of the large newbie corps and then join coms (mumble, jabber, etc). its incredibly fun.
Ping’s always going to be bad from the other side of the planet, but since the game works on a 1 Hz tick it doesn’t make much of a difference the vast majority of the time. The learning curve is steep but that’s what makes mastering it all the more satisfying.
Every time I see something about eve I want to play, then I remember I have a 9-5 job and already play to many games already 🙁
I feel you. My work is really i ntensive and im in and out of states weekly. I get about 6 hours a week for gaming (inc weekends). i spend 2-3 on eve and the rest on a list of games im trying to get rid of. The only reason im going back to eve is because i enjoy it. As soon as i dont, ill be back to the grind to reduce my library of shame
hmmm you may have convinced me to at least give it a little try
