Unless you follow Jessica Nigri, this costume design probably isn’t too familiar to you. That’s because it’s a custom humanised version (or gijinka) of WoW’s Deathwing, created for Jessica by an artist named Zach Fischer — though other cosplayers are now getting in on the sweet, dragony action.

Adelaide’s Zalaria Cosplay is one of them, with this stunning set appearing over the weekend from the talented Steamkittens.
The original artwork was commissioned from Zach Fischer Illustration, a talented artist with a knack for complicated armour, who’s found a bit of a niche for creating gorgeous, cosplayable versions of various creatures and characters for any cosplayer that wants to commission him.
Of course, this is all making cosplay just a little bit meta — when cosplayers end up cosplaying other cosplayers.

Zalaria has also shot some gorgeous images and footage of this costume with Adelaide’s I Got Superpowers.

Yo I heard you love cosplaying, so I’m cosplaying a cosplayer that’s cosplaying.
Stay away from my car.
You just made my day 🙂
Looks great except for the armoured corn-cobs on her shoulders.
Not cAUSplay? Or COzPlay? Or something even more contorted?
Missed opportunity 😛
Was thinking the exact same thing. Googling either one does not reveal the names taken in any commercial context (only “Causplay” being used for a Pinterest group), so they’re totally available for use.
Guess that whilst these people are extremely creative in creating costumes, when it comes to names… not so much. 😛
I’ve been in the cosplay community for so long that all bastardisations of the word ‘cosplay’ just make me cringe haha.
Causplay is almost there, but then it sounds too much like a charity, I think.
Why is this someone cosplaying a cosplayer?
Isn’t she just cosplaying Deathwing? I’m lost lol
Zalaria Cosplay, is cosplaying Jessica Nigiri’s version of a humanoid deathwing cosplay, if that is easier to follow…which it is probably not.
