Days Gone looked great at E3, but was the victim of one of the few misfires at Sony’s E3 conference. They showed the trailer at the start, then inexplicably showed gameplay an hour later, right at the end of the presentation.
This 15 minute demo is an expanded version of that footage, and it provides a more in-depth insight into what you’ll be doing in Days Gone.
Days Gone is being developed by Bend Studios, who last released Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the PlayStation Vita. This makes 100% sense. Days Gone is clearly a video game inspired by Naughty Dog’s work in The Last Of Us. The aesthetic, the dialogue, the combat, everything feels very Naughty Dog — to the point where I openly wondered if Days Gone was a Naughty Dog game.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it’s probably a good thing. Days Gone looks gorgeous. It also looks broader in scale compared to The Last of Us.
I also think the character design says a lot. The lead character seems interesting, with a back story worth investing in.
There’s also the fact that you’ll be battling against hordes of fast paced zombies. That’s also pretty cool, especially the scale of it, which is what seems to really make Days Gone unique. Either way, I’m keen. Looking forward to seeing more.
