Anime Eyes Done Right

Bringing anime eyes to life in a natural, yet accurate way is difficult. Few do it better than Winnie Yap. [Images: Winnie Yap]

For the past few years, she has been uploading eye make-up tutorials on YouTube, showing how portraying anime eyes isn't only about colour contacts.

Rather, make-up is also key and helps make eyes look larger and more anime-like. Also, don't forget about eyebrows! (And please, do be careful while using contacts, whether that's for cosplay or to correct your vision.)

Below are some examples from Yap's Facebook page.

The lack of retinas is kind of terrifying once you notice it...

This has to be the millionth article on why anime character dont look like IRL humans... here's the kicker... its animated not filmed...

That's not what this article is about though. It's about cosplaying anime-style eyes without them looking awful in the process.
