Morning all, good ongoing weekend?
No holiday is stinksy QLD 🙁
That’s your own fault for having one at the start of May 😛
Oh yes, sorry about that T_T
You’re god damn right 😛
My envy knows no limit.
Had a bout of gastro go through the family, so it was sensational
Ha-dewwwww-kuhn!
So, I actually liked the way Bethesda kicked off E3 last year.
Can’t say the same for EA this year. My expectations were set to low, and they didn’t reach that high.
Morning everyone!
@sernobulus @shane @lucifer9785
So I’m hoping to keep my motivation up for the visual novel. I need your help =P (I’m tagging people that have shown interest)
I have the the Tsundere character, the shrinking violet and the gay male, as well as main character and his gay best friend. I’m thinking 3 more characters, but I just don’t have it in my head.
I’m also thinking that the structure of the vn will be half your stereotypical harem stuff and if you survive that, then you get to decide to help the characters out.
For example, let’s say the MC ends up locked in a cold room with the Tsundere, at first it’s about survivng, using excuses to avoid the usual obvious conclusion. Then the MC turns the conversation back on the Tsundere, asking why she is the way she is. Then it’s about helping that character.
I would like opinions.
Not sure what advice I can offer here – I had to Google ‘Tsundere’!
There’s always a risk with a game/book/movie/story that suddenly changes its tone halfway through that: a) you’re going to alienate audiences that just wanted more of the first half; and b)turn away audiences that wanted the second half but couldn’t make it through the first. For me personally, I don’t know for sure how VNs are typically structured, but I find that kind of thing quite jarring.
Recommend a structure where each encounter contains the entirety of the character’s arc.
Good luck! You can do it.
I just each chapter is a characters arc. One will hopefully, smoothly move into the other bit, so a natural progression as opposed to just changing abruptly
Leaked promotional art for the next Zelda game:
Link is rock climbing. That’s one more Serrels article in the bag. He’s already complaining about the idea of climbing with a shield on your back. 😀
Multiple articles, looks like. First the announce, then the implementation!

It’s comforting how reliable and entertaining some things are.
Played my free copy of fallout 4 for a few hours across the weekend. Ran into all sorts of bugs like missing subtitles, classic Bethesda.
Had the game wrenched away from me on Sunday, went into the store to see the damage, and laughed so hard at the 180 asking price for the full version.
Decided to replay dark souls 1 instead, for a less janky experience.
Well regarding the bugs, you get what you pay for…
It’s been six months since release. My brother noted that the same bugs are on the pc version he bought at launch. He had to tell me what the characters were saying because I need subtitles.
So everyone who bought the game gets the same experience I “paid” for. That’s fine?
I’m not outraged that the free copy went away, I was expecting that. I’m annoyed that such a successful title can be so rife with such obvious problems. I considered buying it and pushing ahead with help when I needed it, but I’m not going to put up with feeling like a child for that kind of money.
Fix your basic accessibility, Bethesda.
I had literally no bugs in the base game, the expansion I ran into a couple though.
I’ve had a few, nothing game breaking though.
No subs once, a npc frozen in place with black marks across it’s face & settlers standing on each other.
Was funny.
My first run was on the PS4. Only bug I encountered was Preston not being available as a follower. Kinda sucked, and could’ve been fixed if they’d only allowed access to the dev console.
$180? That include season pass?
Mine was $60 vanilla. Pass was cheap too, before the price raise, but I dunno how much.
What platform were you playing on. I was on PC and no real bugs, a few glitches and the standard brahmin stuck in walls thing
This was on xbone, but apparently the broken subtitles is a problem across all platforms.
There’s a character in the minutemen who doesn’t have a single working line of subtitle throughout the game. For people with hearing difficulties it’s a real problem.
No more buggy than usual Bethesda releases? To be fair they make some of the largest and fully fleshed game worlds out there; I’m more than happy to ignore some clipping issues and some systems not interacting perfectly in exchange for that.
Too cold to sleep. Curse ye foul winter goddess.
ISN’T IT GREAT?! The skies are so dark and grey outside… the air so brisk and fresh. Smatterings of rain! I’m basically in heaven.
My hands and ears are so cold they hurt 🙁
Thermometer next to me says 17 so I’m basically dying. Although I’m sure I could go outside and it would actually be much warmer, it looks much nicer out there. But I don’t have internets out there. Dilemma!
You should come live here it’s like that 70% of the year.
But… but it’s America. c.c
Only at the moment.
And once Trump starts a nuclear war I guess you won’t want to live here anyway.
As someone who grew up in Scandinavia… NO THANKS! 😛
bring on summer, sun, heat… Rain should feel like Fire and Brimstone falling from the skies!
I HATE THE COLD! 😛Your personal opinion is, in this case, objectively wrong.
The cold is the best and that’s all there is to it. Q.E.D. Etc.
Your point is well noted, and i fully respect your rights to be wrong 😛
Pokemon has taught me that fire > ice
You would not disagree with pokemon, would you? WOULD YOU?
As i tend to be terrible at sarcasm over text, i hope you know it’s all in jest \<3That was the spirit in which I was giving. 🙂
I shaved my head bald on Saturday morning. Sunday morning, we had frost on the grass until 11am. #FML
I put my beanie in to be washed last night. Mistake 🙁
Hey, TAY. I’m back again. This time I’m here to rave about an anime I just watched. ERASED is amazing. It just is. I just binged almost the entire series in one sitting. I’m not sure how to describe it, but it’s a murder-mystery anime with time travel. It kept me hooked for the entire time. The twists keep coming.
I’m writing this at 12:30 at night. I only intended to watch a few episodes, but now I’m here. I’m not sure how to talk about it without spoilers, but that’s what spoiler tags are for, right? I’m tagging @negativezero because, I don’t know, maybe he’s seen it.
Where to begin? The villain, once he’s finally revealed, is great. He actually has proper motivations for kidnapping and murdering children, which is rare for a lot of murder-mystery novels/shows and the like. They just say ‘Yeah he’s crazy or something.’I wasn’t super-sold on the ending at first, but now I realise it’s perfect. Although it means the ‘I never saw Airi again’ monologue not technically true, it rounds out the story, whilst also raises some new talking points. I mean, Satoru had a history with Airi Katagiri in the first two timelines, he’s supposed to be meeting her for the first time in 2010 in that timeline. That would be the oddest feeling. It’s a slightly melancholy note to end on. And I just realised this is the first time he’s seen her for 29 years, 14 if you don’t count the coma. And what was the deal with the Revival Butterfly showing up in the end? I suppose it’s to symbolise that he was given the choice of going back again and it didn’t. It’s a nice touch. As with a lot of murder-mysteries, it opens itself up to a lot of plot holes. Like how did Satoru survive drowning, suffering only a coma? It’s implied Yoshira went back and saved him, but I don’t know how that would work. The seatbelt was jammed. I suppose he cut through the seatbelt with a knife or something. The second unexplained happenstance in the plot is when Satoru threw himself off the roof and survived because there was a convenient balloon or something there. How did his buddies set that up? Did he tell them he planned to fall off the roof? How did he plan that thing so perfectly? The third thing that really bothered me is how the murder of Hiromi wasn’t really brought up that much. I know that Kayo’s murder is more important in a way because she was the first to die and Satoru felt somewhat responsible, but Kayo Hinazuki was barely an acquaintance and Hiromi was one of his closest friends. Shouldn’t that have affected his psyche a bit more? He felt guilty about Kayo’s murder for years but the anime never showed him grieving for Hiromi in the original timeline. Maybe the writers were trying to keep it a surprise. And holy crap, another plot hole just occurred to me. The anime stated Hiromi was murdered because he was mistaken for a girl. But Yashiro knew Hiromi was male. So wait, how does that work? Is it a misconception that Yashiro only targets girls, but rather he targets anyone he thinks is linked to the spider’s thread? Maybe not a plot hole, but a bit of a quirk in the story.Okay, I just wrote about an anime for 45 minutes; Time to rethink where my life has taken me.
I actually stopped halfway in because someone spoilered the identity of the killer for me. 🙁
Have you seen Another? I feel like you might like it if you liked Erased.
Oh, that sucks? How many episodes in were you? I’m sure there’s still enough mystery in there even if you know the identity of the killer, there’s still a big mystery thingamajig after the killer is revealed. I don’t want to spoil it, but it’s amazing.
I’ve never heard of Another, I might check that out. No promises, I’ve got a bit of a backlog. I need to get around to the last two episodes of Charlotte, and the last four or so episodes of Death Parade. That’s another show I want to rant a rave about, but it’s such an emotionally taxing anime that it can be hard to get up the courage to watch it. Not in that its sad or anything, but it keeps you on your seat so much and raises a lot of psychologically-charged questions. What does it mean to be human? What is the meaning of life etc etc.
6-7 episodes I think.
The chick in the future world just got her house burned down.Another is a supernatural thriller / mystery and it’s fucking brilliant. Do not read up on it, because the twist might get spoiled for you. Instead just trust me and watch it.
Man, E3 is doing nothing for me this year.
There’s just so little to be hyped about. 🙁
Dishonored 2 looks okay and Mass Effect Andromeda looks like they’re going back to the explorey Star Trek tone of the first game which was what I missed, so excited for that. But generally, not too excited either. Hoping to be surprised by something though. Sony’s delivered pretty well at their conferences the last few years.
Wanted to start working on my stupid backlog but didn’t know what to start so I began Nights of Azure. Man, what a weird game. They’re not really alike but what it reminded me of strongly was Nier. That sort of mid-budget action RPG feel that has a certain something about it which hints at something more. Doesn’t really do a lot to explain things as well, just throws you into it. I don’t think it’ll hit the same level as Nier by a long shot but I’m finding it pretty intriguing. But I also may be predisposed toward liking it since I like Gust’s other games (though by the same token, this doesn’t have anywhere near the whimsical tone of an Atelier game).
Going to stick with it a bit and see how it goes. If it loses me, then the other stuff on my list right now is Odin Sphere, Atelier Sophie and the rest of Senran Kagura EV.
This seems to have kind of sneaked out and no one’s reported it yet, but Tecmo Koei announced that the new game from Omega Force (Dynasty Warriors etc) that they’ve been teasing for a while is a Berserk game.
I am so getting that.
There’s only one character that I’ll actually play (the same one as everyone else), which is a little unusual for a Warriors game, but will probably give me what I’m looking for from the title.
I’m worried it’s going to be a tie-in with the new anime starting in a few weeks. That thing’s horrible stiff 3DCG anime 🙁 Also no Susumu Hirasawa. It was the big thing that ruined the films for me too. It’s just not Berserk without Forces. Miura is a big fan of Hirasawa and wrote chunks of the manga listening to his music and specifically asked for him to be involved with the original anime, which is why he meshes so well.
As a side note, for some reason the world and tone of the Souls games have always reminded me strongly of Berserk. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was some cross-pollination there.
The fact that Guts is kind of invincible and an kill a hundred people at once leans more toward Warriors than Souls, but all his other stuff and the demon-slaying being giant bosses… Also, yeah, that ‘ruined world’ aesthetic is very soulsy. Souls with tonnes of easy trash? Hrrrrrm.
The world itself is very Berserk. That dark, broken down medieval setting. Stuff like Qelaag or the Capra Demon could have stepped straight out of Berserk too.
Dynasty Warriors Berserk? I’m sold.
Couple of details about the new Prey game have surfaced after the press conference:
– Apparently you don’t have to play as Redeye McBearderson from the trailer. There’s a gender selection.
– Chris Avellone is working on it, presumably as a writer. For those who don’t instantly know the name: former Black Isle / Obsidian writer, worked on stuff like Planescape: Torment, KotOR II, Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, etc. Presumably this is what he left Obsidian to work on.
Hmmm, I’m intrigued.
Oh God damn it Dark Souls, why you gotta be like this?
I started yet another character in Dark Souls, because I wanted to try a fist weapons, only run. It hard going, but I was doing well. I got up to where I was by exploiting shortcuts I’d realise. i.e. skipping Taurus Demon by running through Valley of Drakes and Darkroot Forest. Because of this, I never freed Lautrec, and he never freed himself. So I picked up the Fire Keeper Soul in Blighttown, and Lautrec bloody kills the Fire Keeper again, even though I never talked to him. I assumed that if I never rescued him or defeated the Bell Gargoyles, I could do what I wanted without fear of Lautrec runing my shit.
And it was such a hard run, too. I need Firelink Shrine to be working and the precious extra Estus Flasks it provides, too. God damn it why do I always put off killing Lautrec? This character I’ve built obviously isn’t going to last until Anor Londo.
That last run on Bloodborne was quite satisfactory. I got my bloodsouls back, bought a bunch of supplies, went back and killed everyone again, cleared out all the dudes around the burning werewolf, some with nicely lobbed molotov cocktails, and then a dog got me on the shortcut back to the first lantern. 4 stars, will Bloodborne again.
No, I haven’t seen the first boss yet.
If you’ve found the shortcut, you’re close.
Gah, I need NBN! 3 videos done & ready to upload, the first one is 24% of the way done and was started about 6 hours ago…
MS Conference notes, late to the party because I had to go grab lunch with the team right before the Halo Wars bit.
– Xbones is pretty. Might replace mine if it wasn’t for the Scorpio coming out.
– Gears 4 looks okay (and it’s crazy to think they had Laura Bailey on stage to show it)
– Forza Horizon Australia doesn’t look too bad.
– Re:Core seems interesting but I’m not sold on it.
– FFXV still looks pretty but absolutely horrible to play. Terrible demo. Dub seems bad too. Really bad way to show the game off.
– Don’t give a snit about The Division. I guess if that’s something you’re into it might be interesting.
– Battlefield 1 is definitely not my sort of thing. It looks very pretty for a WW1 setting.
– I guess someone will make a Kotaku AU ‘club’? Not going to use the Casual Encounters feature to group with randos and I don’t care much about tournaments.
– Dedicated Minecraft servers from Microsoft? Also that part of the conference was weird as fuck.
– That controller customization stuff looks rad.
– The new thing from the Limbo guys looks intriguing.
– ID & Xbox: Cuphead still looks rad. Outlast not for me. Deliver us the Moon looks interesting. Still really excited to try Below. Bloodstained looks great. Everspace looks like my sort of thing.
– We Happy Few still looks like the Bioshock sequel we should have gotten. Looks rad.
– I’d prefer to play Gwent with physical cards. Gwent is the coolest card game in an RPG since Triple Triad though. I wonder if Cyberpunk 2077 will have Cyber Gwent?
– I haven’t really enjoyed Tekken since Tekken 3 on PS1 so not interested in Tekken 7 at all. I’d go for another Soul Calibur if they hadn’t torpedoed the series with the last one by replacing the whole cast with shitty knockoffs. Harada is a nutbag by the way.
– Dead Snoring 4. I can’t understand how this became a franchise when all the games in it are so mediocre. Must just be one of those games that never clicked for me.
– Scalebound looks cool. Definitely a Kamiya game too, strong Devil May Cry vibes. The co-op element seems cool too. Not sure if it’ll be something I buy or not though.
– Sea of Thieves still looks really rad. Excited to get a brand new Rare game too. Goonies T-shirt probably sold me on the game. The actual gameplay looks fucking hilarious if you’ve got a good group to play with.
– State of Decay 2 is definitely a skipper for me.
– Halo Wars 2 is still a thing. I may or may not have access to the closed beta but can’t tell you about it. 🙂
– Scorpio being announced this early is pretty interesting. The pitch video really sold it well too. I wonder if this forces Sony’s hand. I’ll definitely be jumping in on it.
Things I’m interested in from Microsoft E3
– ReCore – ROBOT.PUPPY.– New Limbo game – we saw basically nothing but I will keep my eye on it.
– We Happy Few – Looks like it will be amazing
– Gwent – Gweeeeeeeeeeeent
– Scalebound – Looks promising, although I hope you can change/turn off the main character’s voice
– Sea of Thieves – Probably the best thing Microsoft had to show off.
– State of Decay 2 – Keeping an eye on this, I really enjoyed the first and will pick this up if it has multiplayer coop.
EDIT: Oh and yes, that Final Fantasy XV demo was awful, like REALLY awful. How did they think that would be something that would get people excited?
I’m disappointed that Steep is not a tea simulator.
Good morning TAY
Last song played game time!
Innocence by Keeno
I played a lot of Witcher 3 this weekend and salivated over the announcements at E3
Titanfall 2 (hype engaged) Watch_Dogs2 (hype engaged)
ETC
The Idea of North – Windmills Of My Mind
Australian acappella group. If you like acappella, check them out.
Lagoon – Nightwish.
Sara Bareilles – When He Sees Me
Potent shit someone sent me that made me feel bad about past, present and future relationship experiences and ruminate on the vulnerability that people experience in dating.
She’s been coming up a lot on one of my Pandora stations. Don’t know if that particular one has come up. Will check it out.
Oh man why did I have to go and look that up 😛
Yeah.
Although, to clarify, I feel sympathy for the singer and anyone who relates to the sentiment, without particularly relating to it, myself.
HELLO.
E3 is weird this year. nothings got me super-ultra hype.
though Deus Ex is looking good. & the new amd 4xx cards are interesting. & i’ll definitely be playing through Skyrim again, mainly coz i’ll be getting it for free.
saw a mention of Dawn of War 3 & Tyranny, but havent seen details yet, so i’m reserving hype.
Mass Effect i’m pretty keen on, but at this point i dont think much of a game exists, so i’m cautious. Also, i’m always suspicious of any game series which seems to wrap up nicely after a trilogy but then suddenly gets a 4th installment… they generally come across as slightly crappy cash-ins. (lookin’ at you God of War & Halo).
pretty keen on Ghost Recon Wildlands though. wish there was a bit more info.
I haven’t had a chance to look at it in depth but mostly just a re hyping of the things I was already aware of. We happy few, scalebound
Any thoughts on this year’s E3 so far friends? I’m mostly under-whelmed. Aside from Dishonored 2 and Titanfall 2 nothing that paticularly peaked my interest. Starting to look like a slow year….
Stuff that I’ll only start getting interested in 1-2yrs from now. Man, FUCK the multi-year hype cycle, I have zero patience for it. I was really hoping everyone would’ve taken Bethesda’s lead on the FO4 announce-then-release schedule.
This so much. Imagine if we were only hearing about No Man’s Sky now, just months (hahaha) out from launch. The hype would be strong enough to crack the world open.
Whereas if I hear anyone talk about it now, it’s with a resigned shrug. Hype cannot be sustained over years, especially in an industry that moves and reinvents itself so rapidly and consistently.
Edit: I honestly don’t understand the point of it, unless the dev was relying on the initial hype to secure development funds from Sony. All it does it let the reception cool down, disappointment over delays to cool hype further, and allow copycats enough time to beat you to release with their own inferior offerings.
Well the point from the big 3 is that they want that hype to sell hardware. If microsoft has a list of 6 games with hype (2 years away) and Sony have 1 (1 year away) then it gives the perception that xbone is a better bet than PS.
For the devs, we awareness at E3 is one thing and if you turn down the chance you might not get next year. Likely also what you sign when you get that sweet publisher money.
Yeah I’m definitely feeling some marketing fatigue. Nothing announced so far has even gotten a “oh cool” out of me yet and we’re already 4 companies in?
I was kind of disappointed to realise that South Park was being brought up again when it already looked cool and awesome at last year’s E3 but still hasn’t arrived yet. Not that this year’s trailer wasn’t enjoyable too, but y’know.
Nothing should be shown at two E3s in a row.
There’s been a couple of things that’s kept me interested but nothing has got me into the “ALL ABOARD THE ROCKET POWERED HYPE TRAIN” that was Fallout 4 last year.
Actually, funnily enough, the thing that I am probably most interested in right now is South Park: The Fractured but whole.
I figured it was going to be a pretty nothing year this year, so I guess it’s living up to expectations quite nicely.
Dishonored 2! Fe! Mass Effect! An Xbox that can play games at 4K (I’ll believe it when I see it, and when said game involves more than 2D sprites on a static background). Keen to see what Sony presents, tho – still looking forward to Destiny:
Return on InvestmentRise of Iron in September, too.😀
Huh… no Bungie in the Sony conference. Looks like there wasn’t any room, tho – holy crap. Game after game after game… there’s the hype I was looking for.
It’s been pretty shit honestly. AAA is so goddamn bland. There’s quite a few things I’ll probably buy but it’s all so one-note.
Oh god… way too much Diablo on the weekend. On the upside, I created a monk on Thursday (? I think) who’s now smashing his way through T9 rifts. Super squishy (just need a couple more gear pieces to fix that), but super fast, and can reliably crit for 1.5 billion on a dash, and work up to 5.5 billion. Super fun to play – can absolutely race through rifts. Downside is having to wander back through it slowly and try to remember where everything dropped 😛
Well that is interesting, it seems that my safe, puts the blue ribbon in blue ribbon liberal seat might not be as safe as it seems. O’dwyer is apparently losing huge amount of ground partly due to the whole $6,000 toaster thing. The greens are planning on throwing all a big chunk of their resources at our seat. Which is a good thing, politicians who think they need to actually do something to keep their seat are good.
Although that does mean I can expect a huge number of door knockers in the next few weeks
I’m still in Kyooyong electorate. I hope that yours slips because if it does, it’ll mean more pressure on mine as well. But Kooyong I believe is the safest liberal seat in the country – it was Robert Menzies’ electorate. Last election it was around 61% liberal, 2PP. 🙁
That name throws me because I live 3 minutes walk from the Kooyonga golf club.
Mine has never even gone to preferences in the history of the electorate.
Latest poll had liberal primary vote down to 45% which if that was the final result would be a fair victory in itself, but they are estimating maybe a required 10% swing and the greens would liekly win the seat based on preferences.
Don’t see if happening but I guess the we will see what a focused campaign can do
Primary vote at mine was like 51% liberal.
Last year mine was 54%
I missed doorknockers on Sunday, I saw them coming down the street as I left on a grocery run. I’m in a marginal seat, so I’m expecting more through at some point.
Yeah, it’s very interesting.
I’m in an absurdly safe Labor seat, but it’s still Labor-Greens, the Libs have no chance.
Hola Tayberinos
Had a quiet long weekend. Went and got a new monitor and keyboard from my PC along with a new desk, I’m now one of THOSE people with a standing desk. So far, it’s working well, still getting used to it but I think my posture is a lot better. Was fun playing Stellaris to test it out, I felt like a proper star admiral standing at the screen.
Also went to a housewarming on Saturday night, finally got the game Spyfall properly to the table, it’s a lot of fun.
Tonight, I start sewing classes, so I can soon get on to my second PAX costume. My N7 armour has been sitting on a table for weeks waiting for me to do the last couple pieces of foam, but foam work can be tedious.
E3? Dishonored 2 is so much my jam it’s almost my theme tune, beyond that nothing has really caught my eye (though the Sony conference may change that).
A Monday Morning Question: There’s been a lot of VR stuff at E3, but what gaming tech are you really holding out for?
Those Touch controllers man. Cannot wait to get my hands on them, and bring my hands properly into VR. Leap Motion is cool and all but just not particularly useful or reliable.
VR is the tech I’m waiting to get into my price range
Hololens. AR is going to be a paradigm shift.
I need to see something solid on the hololens to sell me on it.
Just haven’t had the ahaha moment to switch it from gimmick to real tech
I’ve used one.
Even if Hololens isn’t the shape of the final tech, AR will be huge.
Had a VR weekend. Tried to play through Dreadhalls and just… ugh. My superpower of cement shoes was in full play, all the creepy sounds and looming dread had me locked in place before I had to just give up. Tried again the next day but nope, it’s not happening 😛
Went to do a quick run through all the tables in Pinball FX again, ended up on a monster run of the Mars table and bumped my score from something like 5-8mil to 41mil. Rad.
Otherwise ended up dicking around in Elite for a bit, actually got to take on the “new and improved AI” and see what they mean about endless turning battles. It was impossible to kill an Eagle from my Sidey, even with the enhanced engines. And a Python couldn’t get a single shot on me as we endlessly looped and I pummelled his roof with laser fire. Might need some tweaking there 😛
Also jumped into Altspace again for a bit, it’s still weird to even consider talking to other people though even with the house totally empty and quiet.
Nope! 😉
Dude. RE7.
Fuck no.
Hmm… new God of War based on the norse mythology? YES PLEASE!.
BUT! if you’re going to depict Thor, for the love of god make him the Red haired fury machine he’s meant to be… not the germanic fancy-dancy blonde super model that seems to be the popular choice!
… Please?
What would you know about Norse mythology? 😉
Eh just something about drinking, killing, raping and drinking some more… And that’s just the nursery rhymes 😛
hahah! 😀
Hope you’re doing viking cosplay for PAX…
… damn that’s not a bad idea 😛
oh, i should probably buy PAX tickets at some point too
You definitely should.
GET ME PICTURES OF SPIDERMAN
Okay!
Wow, Sony had a pretty kickarse conference. Again.
Not sure it’s enough to make me want a PS4, but props nonetheless 😛
I just have mental pictures of frustrated Microsoft execs throwing their hats on the ground and stomping on them.
At least they have that cool looking pirate game!
Jeff Kaplan at Blizzard confirmed their will be balance changes in Overwatch effecting Widowmaker and McCree, most likely before the end of June perhaps within a week.. NAO! not my McCree. 🙁
From what I’ve heard about the nerfs to McCree was basically so he can’t combo down tanks which is pretty understandable.
I would be totally down for a ‘does 50% less damage to tanks’ type balance but I don’t think Blizzard work that way, most likely will be in term of toning down fan the hammer damage in general, probably requiring 1-2 headshots to down squishies. but I guess we have to wait and see.
How dare they make you have to aim :p
Well you already have to aim when downing Mei or Reaper inside a stun and most of the time when I succeed it feels like dumb luck, look at it this way I just don’t want McCree to turn into Pharah where you chip hard and most of the time fail on the follow through.
Fair, but currently Mcree doesn’t need to chip hard; just stun and right click centre mass.
To be fair I’ve quite a few FTH’s with stun where 4 of the 6 shots miss the target completely. The recoil/spread on that ability per shot is ridiculous. I would be down for a boost to recoil/spread and a nerf to damage. That way making the headshots would be more feasible and you’re less likely to nuke out a tank.
AFAIK, the fan-the-hammer shots aren’t headshot-capable. The nerf is up now on PC, apparently, and it seems like a good one.
Bloodborne stuffs:
Got to Yahar’gul unseen village and got reamed by the respawning mobs until i found the bellringers… good fun! Then got reamed by the Amygdala that decided to go FUCK YOU when you try to get into the chapel, got a bit frustrated battling the mobs and then that 😛
Then finally got back into the chapel and the Hypogean Gaol… FUCK THOSE HUNTERS :P.
Took me way longer than it should thanks to 2 of them having pretty much 1-hit KO attacks.
Finally took them down one by one by sneaking around but it felt a bit like cheesing it.
Decided after that to pick up the “Old Hunters” DLC and started on that… Turns out the Kirkhammer now is in it’s element as it staggers each and everyone of those early hunters which means more free hits… They still hit like a truck when they manage to get a hit in, but i’m really enjoying this DLC so far…
This game is a freaking master piece, that’s all i got to say!
Those fucking hunters in Yahar gul. I should go back and show them who’s bossTook me ages to work out how to get behind them for backstabs 😛 but in the end, i only had to fight canon dude 1v1 straight up, the 2 others died to backstabs and one slam from the mighty hammer 😛But yeah, initially they kicked my arse up and down that chapel!
I’m well levelled on them now… and if I can beat the Bloody Crow, I can beat themOh yeeeaaah, I screwed up Eileen’s quest line, (didn’t meet her to beat Henryk before the pale blood moon) so when i get back to the cathedral, she was hostile… Holy carp that was a fight and a half!I’m super excited because i know nothing of the Old Hunters DLC so it’s all new territory for me… and it’s a really tough area too!
Let me know when you’re up to the final boss, I could use a jolly co-operator because fuuuuuck is he toughKIRKHAMMAR
I honestly don’t care if it’s what people consent as “the best” weapon in game… I have it to a +8 now, and making it work for me and it’s so much fun!
It even
Staggered a boss, i think Amygdala in the Nightmare Frontier, with a full charge power attack, 2000 damage to the face… That was freaking awesome! 😛I find it essential to wind up the big hits by yelling, “KIRRRRRRRRRRRRKHAAMMAAAAAAAAAAAARR!!”
I’ve been watching too much TFS gaming playing Bloodborne so everytime i feel compelled to say “Cast in the name of god, YE NOT GUILTY!” *splat*
This looks awesome!
Also like something I would struggle to play probably!
Damn, Killing Floor looks heavy on the spooks too… but at least you have guns.
Long weekend: spent Saturday sitting in a dark office managing our IT systems through a building power shutdown.
Wife was in Sydney so Saturday night watched rugby, listened to tunes, and played Elite. Sunday tidied and did some reorganisation of PC. Put a second screen on my desk so I can see chatter while flying. Nice.
Done some benchmarking on the GTX1080. Bloody hell it’s fast. Getting around 2.5 to 3 times the frame rate in Heaven benchmark compared to the GTX680, and Rise of the Tomb Raider is about 4 times with the same settings (1920×1200, very high) – 22fps up to 85fps! Ready for 3440 monitor. Or VR.
Elite: Dangerous is absurdly smooth now, and planetary hooning is fantastic.
Speaking of:
Last week I decided to fly out to the Crab Nebula. I was in Mobius PVE group, and travelling with another pilot. We’d made it over the infamous “permit wall” – a huge sector several hundred light years across where no travel is possible thanks to permits being needed. The developers have said this is where there’ll be future content (Thargoids?!?).
Then someone pointed out that the official “Crab Nebula Expedition” was leaving on Saturday, so I figured I might as well tag along. Signed up, flew 2500ly BACK to the start at Epsilon Indi’s Mitterand Hollow moon, orbiting New Africa. This moon orbits the planet in a couple of minutes. Really disconcerting and possibly nauseating. (How was it in VR, @mrtaco ?) Hung around with some other Commanders for a bit, and then set off. Made it to expedition waypoint 1 in the Pleiades Nebula at a “barnacle site”, biomechanical mining equipment or strange organic lifeform. Went on to waypoint 2, the second planet at Betelgeuse. It’s inside the fuel scoop zone of the star. Nuts.
Last night was back around the “permit wall” for the third time in a week, and heading into the Orion Nebula/Barnards Loop. Massive detour for me. Some others have scouted a pretty direct route, but I was already a long way ahead. Finished up last night with a couple of hundred light years to go, but ran out of time before the ship’s clock said I should go to sleep.
Here’s the expedition page: https://www.edsm.net/expeditions/summary/id/2/name/Crab+Nebula+Expedition
Rumours are that waypoint 4 in the Cone Nebula is not reachable at the moment due to permit walling, but I think I found a way (36 light year jump range helps…).
Loving it still. SPAAAAAACE.
I have no idea what any of the last four paragraphs means but it sounds amazing
Heheh. Thanks.
Most of that was geographical detail, apart from THARGOIDS. The Thargoids are an insectoid alien species that way back in the original Elite (1984) would pull you out of hyperspace into “witchspace” with their octagonal motherships and their drone fighters and attempt murder.
They’re not in Elite: Dangerous, but the rumours are they’re due to come soon, in the next couple of months, and the developers have forbidden a large volume of the map for the new content…
Exciting!
Oooh Thargoids were dicks. The worst part of being dumped into witchspace was the whole ‘seemingly endless waves of ships with no escape’ thing that ended up being entirely avoidable if you had a few seconds to set a new hyperspace destination and just jump out. When I worked that out I felt like such a moron, trying to fight my way through the entire ambush without ever thinking of retreat…
Yeah. Just needed to run and jump. Wow they were tough if you wanted to stay and fight. Stupid thargon drones. 🙂
Have you joined us in E:D?
Nah I’ve not joined in yet but I have been thinking of getting back to it to check out the new content. It’d depend on the days you do it, Wednesdays & Saturdays aren’t exactly ideal, I joined an Arma squad the other week & those are the usual mission nights.
I’m in most evenings… if you see me on say hi and friend me in game. A few of us in the Mobius PVE group, although I’ll venture into Open in a wing.
The sudden rising shadow of New Africa is kind of terrifying, especially when you’re not expecting it. So damn cool though, definitely worth the trip. Also the ridiculousness of trying to even catch the planet to land on it.
“Oh, nice crater i’ll just la- I CAN’T SEE WHERE I”M GOING” is probably the most fun i’ve had landing on a planet 😛
EDIT – Also the trick is to let the planet hit you! 😛 i couldn’t catch it at all in SC.
Really disorienting as it swings over, too. It’s like that feeling of motion when you’re in the car wash. Weeeeeird.
Glad I told you. So worth it. I was jaw dropped when I saw it.
Yeah i was considering taking part in the expedition but alas i forgot XD
Currently 1500 LY away at Delta Pictoris having a snoop around.
Also how awesome is Epsilon Indi? @cakesmith @rize and I went there a few months ago and having the planet SUDDENLY turn everything to night and day in a matter of minutes was frightening 😛
After i’m done mapping out Delta Pictoris fully (I swear there’s something off about this system so i’m having a deep dig) i’ll probably head towards the crab nebula myself…
Last night when i was circling a few of the planets, i swear i heard multiple times the sound of someone dropping from Super Cruise (that thunder clap sound) but nothing appeared on my scope…
Then a weird whirring/scanny sound started looping while i was in SC myself, which lasted a few minutes before disappearing again, once again to the sound of someone entering/exiting super cruise…
Something strange is happening!
Wish I’d reminded you, it’s been fun in groups of 10-15 at the LZ for each waypoint.
Mitterand Hollow was completely bonkers. It’s cool that after 18 months, that was totally unexpected.
Weeeird. Let me know.
I make a habit, when i land on a new planet, to land and shut off all systems (to make the ship as quiet as possible), turn up my volume and just listen to the sound of the planet… Most planets makes groaning/crackling sounds (very dull, very muffled) like tectonics giving way… I nearly jumped out of my skin when i’d turn the volume up and then heard that “BOOM” of someone dropping from SC 😛
Scared the living carp out of me…
I got 2 more planets to scan and check tonight, then i want to go back to the one where i had the activity last night and probably spend a good while just flying over the landscape looking for unusual things. (that’s one thing the Clipper is excellent for, aerial survaliance, that viewport and speed :P)
I think once I finish up with Rebel Galaxy I’ll start playing Elite again (fitting it in between Destiny and Overwatch). It’s hard to find time for a timesink when you’re currently playing several other timesinks… 😛
It’ll be good to see you in the Black, Commander.
Well give me a heads up if you plan on jumping in and want to wing up 😛
I took this chance to go exploring so i’ll need a day (or a couple if i keep heading outwards) to get back 😛
Also be prepared for the new AI, because elite now actually means elite and they HUUUUURT! 😛
Hey, unless they have really good shields and armour they’re not going to hurt me that much in my Conda. I’ll be the one dishing out the hurt.
To myself.
When I ram them.
…I am not a good tactician.
I lost my FDL to a Cobra MKIII :P.
Now i’m not saying i’m a good pilot, but i did not use to have problems with Cobra MKIII’s…
But christ almighty i got reamed, and that’s with nearly 900MJ of shields to cushion the blow 😛
Sounds fun. Also like there’s more to do now than grind.
Might consider giving it another shot, if I can get the new content for not exorbitant money.
Although I’d be way behind everyone else in the game, which will probably limit what I can do :/
There are lots of people starting out.
It’s also by its very nature grindy… if your intention is to get all the ships or all the rank or all the money, quickly. If you’re happy to just play the game and role-play, it’s pretty good. Most of the exciting stuff to do is meta-content – defend your system from other groups, smuggle, Fuel Rats, racing, co-op play.
Were you on Steam or FDev?
See, I don’t even know what any of that is or how to find it. And I’ve played it for like 40-50 hours. The only thing to do from where I was sitting was grind for shinier ships and rank so you can do higher level grinding.
Steam? No idea what FDev is.
FDev – Frontier Developments. I bought the game direct from them before it went to Steam. If you bought through Steam, it only makes a difference to the launcher (and how much money Frontier get…).
All the new content with planetary bases and Engineers (who do upgrades for your stuff) is in Horizons, the season 2 pass. It’s worth it, in my view.
If you do decide to dip your toe back in without grabbing the Horizons pass, I’ll happily come fly in a wing with you.
When I get back from the Crab Nebula, anyway. 🙂 What’s your commander name?
Umm, either Jocon if it goes by steam handle or possibly Trenchant.
I concur with this, in terms of mindset… If all you see as progressing is getting the next big shiny, it’s grind-ohoy… Very very much so… If you like the idea of just existing in a universe and you enjoy finding your own “thing” without having to be the most efficient or min-max, it’s a very VERY enjoyable experience…
I’ve gone from trading, to exploring, to bounty hunting, to missions depending on what mood i am in…
And (as Trikeabout can probably agree to) i tend to do it in the least efficient, but what i find the most fun, way… e.g. going to Sag A* in an Adder or currently exploring in a Clipper 😛
I do what i want, and just have fun with that… my credit balance is rarely above 50,000,000 so an Anaconda or bigger is well out of my reach for the time being. But most importantly i just have fun…
Keep in mind, this comes from someone who is a “hardcore” sim fan, enjoying such “mundane” things as Flightsimulator X and Euro Truck, just because of the actual procedures…
Flightsim X, checlists? awesome!
Requesting a tug for push back while preparing to fire up the engines? cool!
Taxiing while going through the last small items (flaps settings, turn off APU, lights in correct settings etc) awesome!…
You can see where i’m going with this 😛
I like all of this stuff, and space so Elite is like the perfect little beast for me.
I bet you turned off pre-launch flight checklist in Elite though. Or do you do it every time?
I’m good to “grind” with purpose – I needed a chunk of cash to upgrade my exploraconda, so I happily did an evening of high-profit trading in a Type-9 in a wing of 4 to get that cash. But any time I’m getting the feeling that I’m grinding, I’ll switch it up and go do something else.
Missions and other progression in the game seems much improved now too.
Master. Broker. Pioneer. (Helpless). Baron. Midshipman.
My pre-launch checks is usually turn on every module 😛
I have a habit of turning everything off before signing off for the night, little bit of RP if you will… So I kinda do my own checks? 😛
Also, erhm… Competent(?), Entrepreneur, Pioneer, (helpless), Viscount… I think… 😛
LOL awesome.
I’ll get a Clipper when I’m back. THere are a couple of Cutters coming to Crab. And a T9. Seriously.
T9?… really? not even i’m that crazy! XD
I’m looking forward to mine arriving (finally got NewEgg to ship me one, EVGA ACX3.0 SC). I realized a lot of what was making Doom so shit for me was the framerate, which was just barely 30fps most of the time. Started hitting a few areas that were doing something< with lighting or alpha blending or something which absolutely murdered my framerate, <20fps, and gave up.
Good good. 🙂
Haven’t caught up with the Sony stuff yet and it sounds like there is a chunk of it but my E3 feedback / thoughts so far
Beyond good and evil 2 is my last guardianPrey, not as keen as I was for prey 2 but looks interesting
Skyrim remaster: Isn’t that just Skyrim with mods installed
Dishonored 2: I really need to play Dishonored it looks like it so far up my alley
Mass effect: Torn on thsi one. ME1 I loved but got bogged down in ME2 and never completed to play 3
Quake: Looks very gladatorial, not sure I’m up for a MP only arena shooter though
Play Anywhere: My brother is a xboner and the ability to play with him via my PC is awesome is it works
Mafia 3: HAs peaked my interest even if I have no idea what gameplay is like for it
Recore: Pros: Robot puppy, Robot gorilla. Cons: Horrible jumping puzzles
Sea of theives looks like a perfect TAYbar game
We Happy Few: People are talking about it but haven’t seen any coverage but will be a purchase for me
Star trek VR: Sounds like fun but reserving judgement (And waiting until I can get VR)
Final fantasy XV: As somebody who has been flirting with getting FF games since they are gettign steam released what was the point of that. I had no idea what that even was r meant to be.
Trials of the blood dragon: WAT?
Steep: As a VR game that could be amazing, but as is can’t see myself being too keen
I think the point that a lot of the Skyrim remaster critics are missing for some reason is that when it’s out-of-the-box improvements, they can optimize around it. Yes, you can install mods to make Skyrim pretty, but anything shader/engine-related tends to require 3rd-party applications of varying effectiveness and performance hits. The remaster is likely to take a lot of fuckery out of the equation, add a few things no modder can, and lose far fewer frames in the process.
So, yeah… better than Skyrim + mods.
I had considered it and wasn’t really sure as I haven’t delved that deep into modding issues.
But assuming they are planning on charging full price for it, is that performance improvement really worth the money.
Maybe… maybe not. If you have the Skyrim legendary edition on Steam (or just Skyrim + all DLC), then the remaster is going to be free. So I’ll be checking it out for sure.
Edit: As for consoles, I dunno… it’s only going to be the next-gen consoles which didn’t actually have a version before? So it’s more like the AC 4/TLOU remasters in that respect, I guess… (At least one of which I bought. Because playing AC4 is very difficult to get tired of.)
hmmmmm I never did get a couple of the DLC. Chuck that in and maybe an upgrade is on the cards. Or maybe a case of working how much that dlc is and see if I just upgrade to that level before launch.
Wait, it’s free with the LE?
yesssssss
Oh wait it’s free if you have Skyrim + all DLC? Win! Actually… looking at the screens I kind of preferred Skyrim the old way, the new remaster seems more fallouty….
Hmm remember that this IS a Bethesda game, I’d not be surprised if their graphical mods aren’t as efficient as the community ones. Or at least creating new & weird bugs, it’s not a Bethesda game without them…
Yes yes you should play Dishonored.
I’ve had it for ages and never gotten to it.
As someone that doesn’t really like trial-and-error gameplay (where you bash up against a mediocre encounter design until you execute it flawlessly or figure out what the designer wanted you to do, and if you can’t git gud you won’t ever progress), instant-fail or effectively instant-fail stealth (i.e. when you get swarmed and killed straight away if you fuck up, impossible to recover) or sandboxes, is it worth me bothering or should I just wait and see how the sequel turns out?
You can approach encounters in multiple ways, so it’s not very trial and error- you can recover pretty well and/or improvise, and you can pretty much blink out and run away to reset stuff.
It’s a sandbox to a point- Not open world, you have pretty clear goals, but multiple ways to achieve them.
Also, on the weekend, Crusader Kings 2 grasped me again, started a new Ironman game as the King of Poland. Fuck I love that game, and it kinda shirted home something I’m missing a bit in Stellaris- the in-game events are consistently funny and weird. I don’t know if that’s just because we’re playing in Multiplayer, but I’d love more strangeness.
Also, it seems like there’s less ‘personality’ to the governors and scientists. Sure, every now and then you get a negative trait that’s a little quirky, but it’s just a stat disadvantage, it doesn’t generate any interesting stories.
Yeah, agreed. Now, CK2 has had 4 years of DLC to get to this point, but just more events and randomness would be swell.
On the long list of things being a bit skew-whiff today, I made a cup of tea by putting sugar in a cup, pouring boiling water over it, and then just staring.
Pyrokinesis is not an accepted method of boiling water.
The water was already boiled. I believe the aim was to use telekinesis to move tea into said boiled water
I find I do a similar thing at work where I go to the kitchen to make a coffee, boil the kettle and find I have forgotten to bring coffee
Sony E3 conference thoughts:
– God of War is about as interested as I’ve ever gotten in that series since the first one. Not sold though. Kratos is still an angry one-note dickbag. If there’s some depth to it beyond Angry Man Murders Entire Norse Pantheon then I might bite. Not a preorder.
– The Sony Bend zombie thing looked good until the zombies. I was intrigued. Then they finished with the gameplay bit and holy shit was that a snore-fest. Conference ending equivalent of a wet fart. Surely they could have found something that wasn’t just MAN SHOOTS MANY ZOMBIES IN GRIMDARK PLACE?
– Holy shit The Last Guardian is real and it’s coming out this year and it’s going to probably be a massive letdown because I’ve preordered the CE and that’s happened to every fucking game I’ve ordered a CE for in 2016.
– Horizon still looks great. The gameplay looked a lot like it’s going to scratch the itch that a good Assassin’s Creed or Shadows of Mordor sequel would have this year but we’re not getting any of them. Elements of the setting remind me of Princess Mononoke but with robots.
– David Cage finally figured out how to answer the criticism that he has mechanical dialogue and emotionless robots for characters by making a shitty interactive movie about an emotionless robot. Go away, David.
– Resident Evil 7 looks like the sort of reboot that the franchise has needed for years. But also, that game will be a hellish pukescape if you played it that way entirely – the disconnect between a moving viewpoint and your legs not moving is one of the biggest things that triggers bad simulation sickness.
– PS VR Showcase (note: I have one of these things ordered) Shitty Dead Space Knockoff might be okay but probably will make you puke. X-Wing thing got me super excited then it was just a shitty Battlefield thing. Fuuuuuuuck that. I’d kill for a VR-enabled TIE Fighter remake. Batman thing will probably make you puke and I’m kind of done with Batman games still. FFXV was fucking cringe-inducing. That dub is utterly terrible and who the hell wants to play that game in VR anyway? Fire your marketing team, Squenix. They’re making me more and more convinced that XV is going to be a franchise-ending flop.
– CoD thing looked awesome when it was on the bridge and then when you got in the ship and I’m like OH YES A AAA VR SPACE COMBAT GAME and then it turned into a CoD shooting gallery and fuuuuuuuuck that. Next.
– The ghillie suit bit of CoD4 was great, but the rest of that game was just the same one-note CoD bullshit they’ve churned out endlessly since, and not sure I want to re-play the rest of it just for one good part.
– Truth bomb: Crash Bandicoot, the original, was craaaaaaaaaap. Wonky controls, bad collision detection, bad structure and aged terribly. People have nostalgia glasses thicker than coke bottles when it comes to that game. The sequels were fucking excellent (especially 3) but the original Crash was at best a tech demo from back when you had to have a platformer starring a furry slash plumber to sell your system. I’ll probably grab it for 2 & 3 but I’m so glad they’re doing all of them in a pack.
– Crash skylanders thing looks like a dude in a crash costume and also looks awful.
– Lego Snorewars. Too many of these things to be interested any more.
– What the blue fucking hell was that Kojima thing? Looked like something the PS3-era Sony marketing campaign would have spat out. I never got into Metal Gear so I guess I’m the only sane one left because everyone lost their shit to this and I have no idea why.
– Spider-Man seems interesting. Insomniac’s an interesting studio to do it, I think maybe they might nail it for once.
– Should have ended there but instead we got gameplay for the Bend zombie game that looked kind of interesting until they showed the gameplay. A wet fart to finish the conference.
Overall, E3 2016 has been pretty crap. I’m basically relying on Nintendo to deliver the goods with the new Zelda at this point, otherwise it’s going to be the biggest fizzler of a convention in years.
We’re going to see a bunch of wild claims that Sony ‘won’ E3 but that’s only because everyone else brought their C game, so Sony’s B game was slightly better.
Meanwhile, PS VR’s actual killer app releases in October in Japan:
http://www.siliconera.com/2016/06/13/summer-lesson-releases-october-japan-playstation-4/
:V
What games do you actually like?
Ones that are good and don’t kick me in the balls right before they’re released.
Less trollish answer:
Hyped for:
– The Last Guardian
– Mass Effect Andromeda
Interested in:
– God of War
– Horizon Zero Dawn
– Gears 4
– Dishonored 2
– Prey 2
– Sea of Thieves
Ambivalent about:
– FF XV
– Scalebound
– Re:Core
– Spider-Man
I’ve been exhausted by the AAA same-game-different-skin treadmill for a while and haven’t really derived a lot of enjoyment out of games in about a year, a lot of which is because the games I was excited about ended up letting me down hard. The bulk of the upcoming stuff I really am interested in wasn’t shown at any of the conferences anyway, except for The Last Guardian.
EDIT: Oh, that’s just stuff that was at pressers mind you. Hyped for things like Nier Automata and Deus Ex but they didn’t show up at anyone’s conference.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qeghpK0K_I&feature=youtu.be&a there you go
Yes I know there’s footage for it, but it wasn’t at a press conference. Squenix didn’t turn up this year.
So I’ve been pretty bored lately and the talk of Elite and E3 news got me thinking: what do I actually want in a game? What do the stats say?
Played for more than an hour or so in the last year or so, in no particular order:DS3, Overwatch, Stellaris, WoW, Borderlands 2 co-op, Salt & Sanctuary, Diablo 3 end game, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Black Ops 3, Endless Legend, Rebel Galaxy, Darkest Dungeon, The Witness, Deponia, Destiny, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, MGS5, PoE.
Of which Deponia, Witness, Darkest Dungeon, Endless Legend, Stellaris, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, MGS5, PoE were dropped before completing to satisfaction.
Which tells me I like multiplayer and a challenge, don’t mind some open world RPG, think I like 4x and turn based strategy but don’t really, and dislike puzzle games.
Which also don’t help me much though.
What you want is Cyberpunk 2077.
Coming 2077 🙁
Oh, been meaning to ask you.
I have some oddball OEM or something version of windows 7 and it never came up with the update to 10 thing.
What options do I have?
I think you can just go to the Windows site and choose the upgrade? Or maybe I just ran the win10 installer and it sorted it out itself possibly. I can’t actually remember now.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 try here
Dunno why, but I kinda want to get steel battalion on the original xbox…
I think it’s pretty obvious why.
Ridiculous big-arse controller for a mech game. Sounds like a damn good reason to me 😛
That steel battalion controller would be amazing for Elite as well!
I remember eyeing it off a few times before getting the X55 ?
I’ve eyed it off a few times myself. But I’m a bit peripheral-mad, so naturally it sends me salivating a little 😛
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-wont-have-a-female-he/1100-6440862/
:\
“Let us choose Link’s Gender”
“Link has to be a guy so if you want to be a girl then you’d have to play as Zelda”
Nintendo needs to let some people that were born after 1960 work on their games.
Considering how wide of an audience Nintendo aims at – any race, any gender, any age – I’m not going to fault them for this. They’re basically saying ‘this is how Zelda games work, you don’t play as a custom character, we considered making it a game about Zelda instead of Link but Link being a bad NPC presented too many problems’. For some companies that might be a cop out, and I’m willing to accept that they probably didn’t debate the issue for months, but just look at their library of games and it’s clear that they make games for everybody and they have no issue with putting anybody in any position within their games.
It’s not just the obvious ‘they tricked kids into playing as Samus’ example. Splatoon had no issue with promoting the game using female character options. They don’t demote things like Animal Crossing to ‘girl games’. Games like Wii Fit, Brain Training, even Cooking Mama don’t really make assumptions about player gender. Things like Mario Kart, Smash Bros, the Mario sports games, always have female options and unlike most fighting games those female options aren’t designed for men. They’re not perfect but I think their goal of making ‘family’ games resulted in much better attitudes towards female players. In a lot of ways their ‘screw you, we do what we want’ attitude has put them ahead of those of us who want more diversity in games.
They’re one of the few developers trying to make games that appeal to everybody rather than just 12-35 year old males (or lately people who are sick of games aimed at 12-35 year old males). I feel like the fact Super Mario Bros is built to have universal appeal trumps the very superficial sexism of Mario rescuing a Princess. Women liked Zelda games because even the early games where Zelda was just a Princess to be rescued treated her with some respect. Even in Link to the Past her value was as the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom, not as the girl you get if you win. In Zelda II she was the objective, but not the prize. It was more like Shadow of the Colossus in that it was about saving a loved one.
That’s not to say that playing as a female Link would be awful, I think playing as a male Link really helped a lot of young women realise they could enjoy not being Princesses so a female Link would probably be really good like that, but I’m not going to get on Nintendo’s back over this.
If they really are trying to appeal to everybody, telling half the world ‘only boys can be the hero of time’ probably doesn’t do that very well, just as an aside.
Boys can’t be the hero of time. Link is the hero of time.
Go play the start of Wind Waker again.
I like the idea of them twisting the tale a bit, you still get the Ganondorf=power/Link=courage/Zelda=wisdom thing… but instead you play as one of the others. Sure Link has the courage, but he is ineffectual and it’s up to Zelda to use her sleuthing and magic to save the day. Or maybe the desire for all knowledge has corrupted her, and it’s up to Ganondorf to just power his way through to save the world.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ve got tons of ideas for all sorts of messed up Zelda games that break the standards of the series. I’m really into the idea a game where you play as both Zelda and Link on a journey back to an occupied Hyrule, with a strong emphasis on Zelda as a leader torn away from her suffering people rather than going the easy route and making her a boy-ish rogue. Making her own the fuck out of being a Princess. A compassionate leader capable of making the hard decisions. Something that demonstrates why Zelda has never been weak and powerless rather than just saying ‘this time the Triforce of Wisdom lets her shoot laser beams, because fighting is the only valuable thing she can do’. If Tetra is Captain Kirk my Zelda would be Jean-luc Picard.
Most of those ideas stray too far from what ‘Zelda’ is and get into that Fable thing where it can be a Fable game without being for Fable fans, but there’s tons of interesting stuff that can be done with the Zelda franchise.
I’m definitely not against them exploring this stuff. I just don’t like the idea that it’s somehow sexist to not make a female option in a game where you play as a character (even a simple one like Link). Zelda games have never done anything to keep female players, or anybody, out. Not having a huge ‘THIS IS FOR GIRLS TOO’ banner on the box isn’t the same as a ‘NO GIRLS ALLOWED’ sign.
The triforce explanation is utter fucking bullshit no matter how you slice it, not least of which because in their own lore the three parts of the Triforce represent the three Goddesses that created the world.
I’m not sure I get where the bullshit comes into it 😛
Yeah, that thread is something I’m going to avoid because it’s obviously going to devolve into the usual suspects sniping at each other, and I probably will ignore any other discussion about it as well, save this:
That kind of thing makes me wonder if there’s some sort of internal policy at Nintendo that strictly regulates how many new characters can be created per decade and what ‘type’ of product they have to be limited to. ie: Canon vs non-canon.
I mean… with the seemingly disconnected way the Zelda series has always worked (and the absolute lack of personality of Link), it doesn’t really hurt to think of the character of Link as a mutable concept rather than a person with specific traits – like gender.
But if you’re going the route of continuity (which apparently this title is? Continued after the events of Wind Waker, I heard?), then it does makes sense to stick with continuity. I mean, it’d be pretty weird to try and make the next Tomb Raider have continuity references to do with Rise of the Tomb Raider but give you the option to play as Lara Croft or Larry Croft.
Weird… but not impossible. “Look, just pretend the previous games were this new gender. You play video games, we’re sure your suspension of disbelief is up to the task.”
Continuity makes just as tough to implement a new character, too… Especially if NPCs or narration refers to actions of the hero Link in the previous title.
End of the day: I think they should’ve just implemented the option and if anyone complained about continuity errors said, “Shrug. Video games! Use your imagination. We’re not ready to remaster WW again with gender options to preserve this universe’s continuity.”
That’s how change happens. Momentary discomfort, then adjustment. Now’s as good a time as any to correct course. It’s not like the Zelda franchise is disappearing and needs to be preserved in amber. Nintendo will keep pumping titles out for Zelda, Mario, Metroid etc until the heat-death of the universe. And it’s not like we’d lose much. (Unless all those bizarre reddit posts about the games actually being connected are true, and the series is a lot darker and more connected than anyone except conspiracy theorists give credit for and a lot more work would be required to integrate new changes. But seriously, what’re the odds of that?)
We don’t know which if any games it’s connected to. Saw some suggestions it might actually be the same Link from Zelda II, in which case, sure, the option doesn’t make sense.
But if that’s the problem, then >i>write the game from the outset so that giving the option makes sense.
“It’ll mess with the timeline”?
The timeline forks in three ways already. Make a fourth fork, “Hero of time wasn’t made by sexist old men”. It’d be so trivial for them to make it work. They just don’t want to. 🙁
Yeah, I dunno that I’d go so far as to agree that deciding on a gender for a character you wrote and deciding to stick with it counts as ‘sexist’.
Refusing to acknowledge that it might be something people want is, though.
But they did acknowledge it.
They noted that there had been questions and discussions about it and that they’d considered it but decided against it (albeit for various nonsensical reasons).
Those are justifications after the fact. They never had any intention of doing it. When it came up last, Aonuma was surprised people were even asking about it.
Also Japan. Sexist is basically the default. 🙁
Not a Zelda game fan but Link is an established character, not a role or create-a-toon.
The depth and importance of that character might be debatable but them saying “No, we are not going to change this character just to tick token diversity boxes.” is not being sexist, it’s just being narratively consistent.
Should they make a game where you play as Zelda instead? Totally! But they have no obligation to change Link.
I feel like this would be a stronger argument if they gave Link more of a character. And if they did that I’d be fine with him being Male (as long as it doesn’t end up as off-brand as Metroid Other M). The issue is the guy’s got zero personality, zero character and is basically just an elf in peter pan cosplay. The fact that, as he stands right now, you could change his gender and not really affect anything is part of the problem.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EKKW2g1gP0 Tales of Berseria’s looking pretty good. I do wish someone would give Velvet some clothes though. Must be hard getting in and out of those ripped threads without making it worse.
Also I can already tell I’m going to hate the wimpy kid.
But the cast overall looks much better. Seems like we’re getting a darker lead for once as well – already looking like she might have the potential to challenge Yuri’s throne for Best Tales Protagonist.
Round 2: Cup, sugar, tea bag, cold water.
All set for the pyrokenesis this time.
Maybe you just, like, shouldn’t Tea.
It’s okay, I got it right today. Took a picture and put it on the fridge to remind myself that tenacity breeds greatness.
Fuck you lack of sleep and fuck you even more inability to go back to sleep!
For three mornings in a row now I’ve woken up at 6:25. Even though last night I went to bed at 3:30.
Stop being a jerk, brain.
You freely acknowledge you have some strange sleep patterns, but I just don’t understand how you can function later in the day.
If I cop a few rough nights running with the kids (so 4 or 5 hours sleep over 8 hours) I am absolutely shot. I basically tell my boss and my team not to ask me any important questions after about midday.
Thankfully I don’t have to do anything important after midday. Actually I don’t really have to do anything important before midday either 😛
Also I generally nap on the train on the way home so get some battery recharge there. Although often once I’ve been home for a while I feel myself start to fade, and go sleep for an hour or so before dinner.
It’s uh… polyphasic. Yeah.
I used to find napping after work made my sleep problems worse. I’d wake around 5-5:30AM go to work, come home, nap, have dinner then be stuck up until 2AM because I was just a little too refreshed to sleep. It was really hard to force myself to stay awake when I got home but I’d get a better night sleep overall if I swapped the nap for going to bed at 11.
You totally adapt to sleep deprivation. Go for long enough with minimal sleep and your normal changes.
8 hours isn’t needed, just ideal and what people are used to.
Adapting is one thing, but there seems to be growing amounts of research that links lack of sleep to a range of physical and mental health issues.
Myself, I’m generally good with anywhere from 6 to 7 hours. I can go a few days with less (kids, late nights, study etc.) But when the kids really get going I really need to be in bed by 9:30 to make up for all the time I’m awake overnight.
That’s all presuming that I want to be a functional human during the day. 😛
Far as I can tell I’m mostly ok 😛
I’ve always been able to function pretty well with low amounts of sleep though, four hours always seemed to be the sweet spot when knuckling down on finishing projects and stuff. Even back as far as high school having all-nighters and people remarking how normal I looked the next day, compared with the black-eyed guy a few desks down. Mildly convenient superpowers?
Thinking you’re okay is the first sign of being seriously ill!!
So at worst I’m only mostly seriously ill. Phew!
Last song played time!!

So who else is buying Overwatch on Xbox One because they bought it on PC thinking their two main gaming friends wouldn’t want to play it?? No, just me?
OK, so next time I need to not be dumb, I will now own two copies of Overwatch
El Cargo – Amon Tobin.
Discussing Splinter Cell and the lack of it at E3 made me nostalgic for Chaos Theory
What from E3 are you keenest for Red?
Dishonoured 2, looks swell.
Barely shown, but I need new Mass Effect in my life soon too.
The Leper Affinity – Opeth.
Well, i’m watching Jim Root of Slipknot demonstrate how to play Killpop off Slipknots latest album.
So… bethesda is working on a new TES but it’s 3 years away. This has to be the best news to come out of this year’s e3 =O =D
Was this ever in doubt?
In other news, the sky is blue and water is wet.
Dear Resident Evil 7; I’ve played Gone Home too ya know?
Sister and her boyfriend came over for dinner last night, ended up giving him a run on the Rift. Gave him a go of Dreamdeck, then he had a quick run through each of the Pinball tables, then a race in Radial-G. He asked about scary games at one point, so I put him in Dreadhalls. For whatever reason the mad bastard just kept persisting with it, despite being all “I don’t like this” the same as I was. We were kind of playing it co-op though, with me keeping an eye on things on the screen and helping to direct especially when the scary things came out. Balls of steel 😛 Then after that he got to go do The Climb, took to it way better than my sister.
May have to further investigate Dreadhalls as a co-op game.
Been reading a lot about the McCree nerfs, not great feedback so I might try avoid playing him for now.
Maybe i’ll just play Mei, similar concept to McCree. probably be more consistent killer than the post nerf McCree.
That gone live? Maybe at least play him a bit and see for yourself.
http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20745235963
Says its live, considering you usually only get 3-4 shots off in the stun I assume the new tracer combo is stun + left click the head. I can do it just not reliably… it also means killing Meis and Reapers a lot more situational (good placements and distance on the stun) and killing these 3 were the main reason I played McCree.
and hitting moving targets with Fan is just plain impossible, so left click seems more dominate, I would essentially be playing in a totally new way. but I suppose you have a point.. give it a go…
6 shots at 45 damage is 270 damage. Not enough to burn a tank but definitely enough to knock out the squishy dps targets you listed. They average 150 hp which means you only have to hit with 3 of your 6 FTH shots to get the kill.
Also the reload time has been halved which should give you the chance to start a second FTH just as they get out of the stun.
It’s only a .7 stun so unless you already have the cross hair lined up your destined to go overtime with 1-2 of them and getting all six shots is a rarity since the low health players usually also have smaller unit hit box, and what happens if I miss? I just die? what type of hero is that.
Technically if you miss with Mei you die as well. Any close ranged hero really. And with the hit box that’s why you only need 3/6 shots to get a kill on the low hp heroes, I mean a 50% miss rate is pretty generous.
Additionally McCree’s old playstyle was flashbang and right click don’t bother aiming, with this nerf he comes more in line with Mei. Where he CC’s the opponent lines up the shot and kills. He was frustrating to play against and the fact his damage would bring down big hit box targets to less than half health with a full FTH was kind of ridiculous; especially given the ability has no CD. Also happy for the Widowmaker nerf, she was so easy to play. All you need is one/two body shots and then just kill them without letting the weapon charge up.
Edit: That said I think Bastion is considerably more deserving of a nerf than either of these two characters. Which is typical of Blizzard in all their online games; fricking patron warrior stuck around for 9 months before they nerfed the strat.
I came in here to say something insignificant & then realised I had a team meeting.
Now I’ve forgotten what I wanted to say.
Skyrim!
Zelda?
It’s too expensive.
@trikeabout
Weird Elite encounters are ramping up!
Found a reddit thread about people experiencing the exact same sound as me. Someone was even clever enough to capture it: https://youtu.be/VNeuMl_5Iiw
I didn’t experience anything unual last night unfortunately. But now we have more reports from both Galnet and CMDRs about a DBX flying in Maia and near Obsidian Orbital with the designation “S6: 7”. People being interdicted with weird messages and so on…
WTF Is going on out there? 😛
Getting kinda spooky, keep those weapons powered up CMDR and fly safe!
It’s HAPPENING.
OOOOOOH
Apparently everyone is reporting this morning that all barnacles are “dead” and no longer producing bulbs… Something is escalating i reckon!
I’ll pass through Maia on the way to the crab nebula i think just for some scouting and see if i can get a beat on this S6: 7 ship…
Did you see the stuff about the lore clarifications the other day? Apparently Elite takes place after the alternate ending of Frontier First Encounters, and the Thargoids never received a cure from the Alliance for the virus that infected their tech or whatever (and humans never got their tech in return either).
We screwed.
Oh. That’s interesting.
And worrying.
… well Sh*t!
Back to being worried about witch space again i guess 😛
Apparently there’s “live” barnacles been discovered in California Nebula.
Does anyone here have much experience with ducted heating/cooling or split systems (or heating/cooling country houses in general)? My mum recently moved out pretty far and the weather is either really hot or really cold. She’ll get used to it to a degree but it’s still going to be a bit much for her. I’m going to go up there next week to see if I can make the place a little more heater friendly and fix the existing system, but from what I can tell it’s just a very basic cooling system and a fireplace she doesn’t like using (she knew how to use a fireplace before she moved in, but I don’t think she really grasped that it wasn’t just a pretty heater with an on/off switch until she had to start actually using moving fire wood).
I got her to get some quotes but the guy is telling her it’s not right for the place so she should get three split system heaters (study, kitchen and lounge). To me that sort of room by room heating sounds impractical. My gut says he’s trying to get three easy installs rather than the more annoying option, but the place is big enough that I’d believe it can’t be heated all at once. I don’t know the exact size of it, but the lounge room is large with a high/thin roof. The kitchen/dining room is large leading straight into the laundry. The study is actually pretty small. It’s a bedroom big enough for a double bed, a desk with room to comfortably walk around. They’re suggesting a 2.5kw/3.2kw for the study, 6.3kw/7.1kw for the lounge and 5kw/5.8kw for the kitchen.
Installation cost isn’t a huge issue for me but I’m a little worried about installing a great system that’s too expensive to run.
Any input would be appreciated.
I’m no expert but afaik unless there is technical reasons why ducted can’t be installed (too narrow roof cavity ect) then it comes down to always heating/cooling all the house all the time with ducted or just what you are using with split systems.
If it’s a big house then ducted heating for it might use a butt-ton of electricity.
Not really sure I can help but think @coldcamv did a bunch of handyman stuff before becoming a real estate guru
Split systems are way better for cooling than central A/C or evaporative, but not great for heating.
EDIT:
Oh god you’re burning Ents?!
Was just thinking the other day about when RedLynx would make a new Trials game and whaddya know they just release one out of the blue. Anybody else pick it up? Just finished it, it was ok, but most of the time I found myself wanting to play Trials: Fusion
I felt that way about Fusion: spent most of it wishing it was more like Evolution.
Yeah, Evolution is awesome. With Blood Dragon though they’ve tried to mix it up, you’re only on a bike for like half the game, the other half you’re on foot, or using a jetpack. Didn’t like it much, as far as I’m concerned Trials isn’t Trials unless you’re on a bike.
So I have been pretty busy with work this week, but have tried to check in on Kotaku every so often to read the articles about E3. It makes me really want to go one day (if some non-industry pleb like me could go). Has anyone here ever been??
*Takes a deep breath, scrolls to the start of E3 articles*
Yeah same I’d like to attend at least ONE e3 in my life, just for the experience =]
Good morning all

You don’t got access to spotify or music on your phone??
Gotta be some way to get it out of your head man
Listen to a song on repeat a few times, try to counteract it
Oh. I know.
Eiffel 65 – Blue.
Yup. That did the trick.
…Shit.
Hey, I fucking love Eiffel 65 😀
But now it’s in my head!
Oh, I know what will do it. Hey Mickey you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind HEY MICKEY
Down in kokomoooooooooooooo
Haven’t heard that in ages
Hey Everyone.
I love that Windows has brought out the play anywhere. This means if I have an xbox one and a game I buy on windows 10 makes me feel ill, I can then play it on xbox one!
Oh, that’s cool, didn’t even think about it in that way.
Why do you think I wanted to buy yours? =P
I have this issue with a few games. Dead island riptide, escape from dead island, metro series, dead space series, resident evil operations. I think about 20% of my playlist isn’t played because it makes me ill
Raisins?
I don’t want any raisins
Mmmm, raisins.
I would have thought having to use the Windows store would already have made you ill.
It doesn’t bother me.
Quick heads up to the Monster Hunter fanatics. One of the tiers in the new Humble Bundle gives access to the Generations demo on 3DS for $4 USD; no idea whether the AU market can get access.
However, paid demos are shit, and this one will be freely available at the end of June.
Double however, it’s understandable that some people might not mind dropping cash for a demo.
@beavwa
It has a couple of other things greyed out as “not in your region”, so presumably it would work. Interesting idea though.
A THURSDAY TAYDRENALIN SHOT
What can’t you believe video games/video game cultures are still doing? I can’t believe people claim that mainstream games don’t make political statements
Hidden collectables that don’t further the story.
Can’t believe they’re still a thing.
I can’t believe only 6 games out of the 100 or so featured at e3 had a female protagonist.
Taking notice of what people say on social media.
Re-tweets and downvotes are not news.
I can’t believe that platform-exclusive content in third-party games is still seen as a positive.
Well it *is* a positive when you can take advantage of it 😛
Derogatory terms and sexist statements as part of the ‘lingo’
Analyzing a game on a $ per hour of game play metric
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst makes me swear more than I hoped for, so it’s going back to EB. Anyone else played it so far (other than @dc, whose opinion I have already read)? What do you think of it?
Does @dc even exist anymore? I’ve subscribed to the popular theory that he was wished into existence by the collective TAY hive mind. The Tavemind if you will.
He’s on twitter.
UNLIKE YOU
I was in your heart all along!
HE LIVES!! =P
Welcome back dc!

I beat your headshots in a row and headshots total in Uncharted 1 xP¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s a wake up call to git gud, I guess.I actually realized finally who your PSN picture was of after playing haha.
I bought the Nathan Drake collection, I’m up to Uncharted 2 at the moment! Hope you’ve been well!
Yeah, home slice. I’ve been good. Been writing more and going out more and having adventures. Also lost 14kg since October. (I’m telling you this cause you’re a fitness guy. Haha!)
How have you been, bud? 🙂
That all sounds great man, you’re killing it!! 14kg is huge, you must feel like you’ve got a tonne of energy now! I’ve been good! My gf is living interstate for study so I’ve been gaming more than ever before *love heart eye emojis*
Played it for a couple of hours on release day and found it surprisingly meh. Haven’t touched it since.
Still playing, will finish it.
It’s…fine. I wanted great, but it’s fine.
It’s like, for everything they tried to fix they just introduced two new issues.
The core gameplay stuff is good, the running, the jumping, all that jazz, but everything attached to it brings it down.
Yep. Plot is garbagey, some of the side activities are crap, but that core run-climb-jump-now swing look is pretty damn good
Played a few hours of it. It’s pretty good, but have two fairly major gripes – the combat and the GPS.
I don’t mind the “use an enemy as a landing platform” or pushing people out of the way, but straight up “fight this guy” just feels out of place. I get that “you need to get to this McGuffin, but it’s being guarded” (on the surface) implies the need for combat to exist, and the idea that a lot of these things would be unguarded seems a bit odd, but it breaks the flow of the parkour. Why not incite a chase by getting spotted by said guards, then lead them away and have to loop around to the now unguarded McGuffin?
As for the runner GPS, it sometimes deliberately sends you on a roundabout route (and though, yes, it tells you that the path it gives you will probably not be optimal, it’s frustrating during timed missions). I’ve had more than one mission where the only way I’d be able get to the next checkpoint in time was to turn around and go back the way I’d come, while the GPS kept telling me to take a 25 second detour to eventually accomplish the same thing. To follow the GPS, even with no mistakes and maintaining top speed, would be to fail the mission, which defeats the point of having a GPS at all. It also means learning when to trust it and when to ignore it – which means a lot of trial and error and frustration.
My favourite thing about the first Mirror’s Edge game was being challenged to complete it with as little combat as possible. With only a couple of minor exceptions, the game was designed to be played that way. Faith was underpowered and squishy, and could only survive by running. If you stopped to fight, you needed fast reflexes and a good chunk of luck.
In comparison, Catalyst tries to set Faith up as a highly capable and dangerous fighter.
The Focus Shield is insanely OP. Recovering health and focus when you defeat enemies pretty much negates the need to run. (And knocking armoured enemies out by pushing them gently into each other makes for a very silly looking animation.)In the last mission, Faith rounds a corner and is faced by a squad of a dozen armed guys. I think the game intends for you to turn back and run, but by that stage, you’ve been forced into so many combat scenarios that you can handle this, even with the clunky combat controls – not to mention that Faith herself has just finished yelling over the comms that she was ready to take the fight to the bad guys (now that’s some poor game design right there). Anyways, it was no big deal to take out this crowd of enemies… and that’s just incredibly disappointing to me as a fan of the original game, where if you stop running, you’re probably going to die.Gah! And pointless collectables, GPS, open world littered with crap busy work, skill trees.., The franchise just took a giant leap towards the mainstream in so many disappointing ways. Also, IMO the story it told was by no means strong enough to justify junking the ‘canon’ of the first game, but that’s really neither here nor there.Okay, that’s too much ranting. It wasn’t a bad game overall, and I probably would have enjoyed more it if it didn’t have a legacy – imperfect though it may be – to live up to.
Couldn’t agree more with that Matrix-esque fight scene near the end. Ugh.Yep, the first game set her up as a parkour enthusiast – guns were things to be grabbed in order to deprive your enemy of the ability to shoot you as you run away; the second game basically turns her into a ninja.
The progression tree isn’t too bad, aside from it never telling you to not even bother trying for high scores before you unlock everything. Still, I find it odd that Faith forgot how to roll until a few missions in. Maybe she’s an amnesiac? 😛
Oh, forgot the misleading use of the term “shift” for a mechanic when playing with KB/M. I think I saw “use Shift to accelerate quickly” and just assumed it meant “press ‘shift’ to accelerate quickly” but it seems to do the exact opposite. Maybe I should look at the keybindings and figure it out…
The shift option is to hit right click as you start to accelerate, only makes a small difference to speed (particularly once you have the roll), but it’s the only thing that let me get 3 stars on some of the runs from the outset.
I actually encountered the opposite. I was probably doing my jumps/stunts the wrong way, but I found it a hell of a lot easier to just murder everyone so I could parkour in peace.
Thanks for reading. I thoroughly disliked it and wouldn’t recommend. 😀
I didn’t dislike it as much as you, but I still have no regrets about returning it.
I think I had built a dream sequel up in my head and was just disappointed at every design decision. There’s fun here, but under the weight of expectations it collapsed. 🙂
I didn’t quite like what I was seeing thematically, downhill from Chvrches.
And that theme was pretty much the only thing I played the original for. That skyline. That music.
@mrtaco
As a peripheral addict somewhat like meself,
Have you seen the announcement of the “Elite inspired” Thrustmaster T.16000m FCS?
If i didn’t have an X55 already, that HOTAS would be a nobrainer for me!
I’ve found it confusing since they keep referring to it as a HOTAS but then seem to only talk about the stick and none of the articles have any pictures and idk what’s going on 😛
Looks like it’s the same one that was announced and shown off a couple of weeks ago though. But I did just read on thing that said the twist could be locked in place on this one, so that’s one new feature. I kinda wish I didn’t buy that second T.16000 now, so I could get this one as my second instead 😛 Although my secondary did have better buttons than my first one, so maybe I could just on-sell the old one or something.
I am interested in the throttle, though do wonder about how well it’ll work. Never tried one before, and also would need to think a lot about how it would affect my binds 😛
This, is the reference photo i saw… For the proposed $129 USD retail price, that looks pretty damned amazing… I kinda want one XD
Ah, so the US$129 is for the bundle. That’s not so bad then. IIRC I got my stick for about $60 or $70, so I guess the throttle will probably end up about a hundred here. Not sure if I’d splash out that much on it, definitely not without being able to give it a go first.
Those binds look weird though, certainly wouldn’t be using them 😛
Oh yeah the “default” bindings are abhorrent! 😛
SCBs off stick? i would never remove my hand from the flight stick during a fight, that seems like a terrible idea 😛
But yeah, for a full quality* HOTAS, that’s not a terrible price… I would definitely consider it if/when the X55 goes…
Interesting choice with a rail-sliding throttle instead of the conventional throttle that uses a the “rotary-thingy-i-don’t-know-the-name-for” XD
*suspected quality, you never know
Heh, I have my chaff/heatsinks on the key they use for Sysmap 😛
Main thing that gets me is using the hat for power management, to me that just feels slow, clunky and awkward (although I guess it might be better using one of the thumb hats on the throttle, since I’m more used to operating a D-pad with my left hand). Also UI Select and Fire on the same button is a recipe for a bad time 😛 I find it funny that they label it Rudder rather than Yaw axis. Also it’s hard to tell what that Supercruise switch is – is it a pair of buttons? Another axis? Wondering what that wheely looking thing on the left side would be useful for too. Maybe that could be used for radar zoom.
Looks pretty cool. Good entry level HOTAS. Too many buttons on the stick side though, which is my major issue with the X-52 – I keep meaning to assign a bunch of those functions to the macro buttons on my keyboard left side so my left hand doesn’t reach across…
I’m tempted for the HALL sensors in the t.16000m alone… those things are meant to be amazing, and the same sensors used in the Warthog (which is my dream stick that i will never get)…
Definitely odd with buttons on the stick base, as i am used to an abundance of keys on the throttle base, but i reckon i could get used to some of them, minus the whole “use them in a combat scenario” thing.
I’m not about to get rid of the X55, but if something was to happen to it, then this is a definite contender. The new X56 looks pretty schmick too though XD
The stick was originally meant to be used standalone using the throttle on it’s base, thus the many buttons on it.
This new throttle is basically an addon to make it a proper HOTAS.
Do you know if that throttle is a separate unit that would work with the normal T.16k? Or is it a new all in one thing?
The product page isn’t clear.
I believe the throttle will be sold seperately as the “TWCS Throttle”, but yeah it’s a bit unclear… From what reddit is telling me, the throttle “will be under $100 and more than the T16000m.”
Hmm, will have to wait and see.
The new stick does look nicer than the original and hey, maybe the buttons won’t be shite this time round :/
But I should probably play more space games before I start buying peripherals.
How many people here are interested in the progression of the Visual novel? How many people are interested in actually seeing the process that I’m going through?
I’m interested in progress and story. Not so much on seeing the actual process
Process is more like, images and concept arty things
Yeah that kind of things. Decided on this character, they are blah blah blah
Thinking these primary locations
Background artwork for these locations
…I forgot about background art. My only weakness. Hiss.
I would like people’s input for characters and such. I just want to know who to tag I guess
Can someone still playing Destiny update me?
I stopped probably November last year shortly after Taken King
*logs into spaghett*
$ sudo yum update -y &
*logs out of spaghett*
Smart ass, I love it
yum? I thought you were secretly a monster, now I know. 😉
Also well played, sir. Well played.
I blame having to write RHEL kickstarts for servers and development VMs for five years.
I was an Ubuntu fan until they replaced Gnome2 with Unity… still not really a fan of any of the Gnome3 generation of desktop environments. What’s your poison? Aptitude? Zypper? YaST? Pacman? ‘./configure && make && sudo make install’? 😛
Mainly use Ubuntu still, but headless. Mostly apt, yeah. I think Mint is probably the best OOBE for people coming from Windows though.
I was going to reference emerge but then I thought I quite like you and I don’t want you to stop talking to me. 😉
I actually had to look that one up… I think the last time I used Gentoo was about eight years ago… for maybe five minutes. 😛
Definitely agree with you on Mint, tho haven’t had a look at it recently. I mostly use a RHEL6 workstation, but have a few headless RHEL/Centos 6/7 VMs for work, and keep a headless Debian VM for personal stuff – it’s ubiquitous enough to have decent documentation for just about anything.
paging @masha2932
I started playing it about 6 weeks ago, as a noobie i’m probably not much help but i like it alot! 😛
I’m part of the Old Guard, played the beta and everything, we fell out of love at some point and got back together around Taken King (and previous DLC)
But my main gaming compadre’s stopped playing it and so did I
I’ve roped @Rize and @cakesmith into helping me out for the most part.
We’ve all been keen on attempting some raids, as i’ve still done none of them.
We haven’t played much this week, but we’re usually on every other night or so… not sure what console you’re on but we’re on PS4… happy for some teaming up at some point if you are
@os42 knows a little about Destiny. A LITTLE.
WHAT? Why didn’t you say??? Only reason to go back in is to play with noobs and help them level!
PS4? Please be PS4? Trikeabout is my PSN
Yep yep PS4… Currently LVL 40 Light 284’ish… Keen on trying to get enough people together for a raid so i can give one of those a try… I suspect i’ll perform horribly but i still want to try 😛
We should do a Vault of Glass…not just because I have quests that hinge on it, but apparently it’s a lot of fun and probably easier than King’s Fall.
If you’re keen, Trike, that would mean we have 4 people already (me, Pixel, @cakesmith, you).
Still think making a vault out of glass sounds like a horrendous idea
VOG is awesome. My friend Pearl is desperate to do VoG and Crota too, and @os42 is usually happy to come along if the group needs a
leader who knows what they’re doingsixth. So, during a standard VOG run, how long does that take?
Just so i can ensure i don’t have anything else come up where i may have to duck off or something and leave you guys half way through XD
Really hard to say. A coordinated group familiar with it will probably take about an hour; a decently coordinated new group who have an idea of what to do could probably do it in a couple of hours, maybe 3 at the outside.
If you ever need a sixth, I’m always keen to run VoG. 🙂
I started a week ago, and it’s surprisingly enjoyable, though I mainly avoid PvP.
Nearly everyone i play with only pvps with mates for a laugh during Mayhem (when supers charge really fast…)
Mayhem was… Crazy… I even got 1 kill ?
Yeeeeeaaaah i tried the crucible once and then never again! Everything else has been great though… Really loved prison of elders!
Sorry, had to rush to a meeting, so opted for the quick uninformative-but-hopefully-amusing response.
Since November? Lore-wise, we kicked Oryx’s smokey butt outa the Dreadnought, and have been working to combat the (now-unfocused) Taken forces still assaulting the solar system. In April, Malok, a spawn of Savathun (one of Oryx’s sisters), taken by Oryx to spite his sister, decided he’d make a claim for the now-empty Osmium throne. We chased him down and managed to stop him at the old Shrine on Luna, and gave his head-casing to hunters to wear as a trophy.
Mechanics-wise, Infusion now bumps the light-level of an item to be on par with what you infuse into it; the new LL cap is 335, and the new loot system will grant incremental increases. Up to about 310, your best bet is farming blue engrams for infusion fuel, from there to 320-325 your best bet is reputation rankup packages (one guaranteed legendary up to 5 above your light, capping at 330, from Vanguard, Judgement, Shaxx and FWC/DO/NM packages). From 320-ish, you can run the new Prison Challenge of Elders, which will reward one weapon and one armour piece per week, up to 5 above your LL, capped at 335. I’d advise against this week’s, tho – it’s a pain in the butt.
If you’re raiding, KF loot tables have been upgraded – HM drops up to 335 gear, NM drops up to 320 – which can accelerate things. Otherwise, buying a bunch of 3-of-Coins from Xur and farming exotics is another path to 335, as they will be up to 5 above your LL up to 335.
Thanks, was quite amusing
I want to go back in now.
I’m seriously considering resetting the Titan.
Saw the Warcraft movie last night
Liked it, don’t really understand the hate from the reviewers
Heard the same from a friend whose tastes line up with mine.
It was heaps better than I expected. Solid fantasy
Aw yiss. Got an offer to work the Federal Election on July 2!
So I need to replace the computer I am using for a PLEX server/media server since it’s now struggling encoding x265 HD files very well for the Chromecast (pegs the CPU at 100%), yet it works fine with x264 HD files.
So i’m thinking something on the cheap side of Skylake, don’t really need quad core, dual core should be plenty. So far I have come up with this I have a spare SSD lying about for an OS drive & I intend to use a WD Red Drive not a Blue because it will be on all the time most likely.
What have you got currently?
It’s an MSI, laptop of some description, I paid $100 for it cause the screen was broken 😛 It’s Dual core AMD Athlon II P360 2.30GHz with 2gb DDR3 ram & Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics. It appears to be a model that came around in 2011, but I can’t find a great deal on it for some reason.
I originally planned on dumping my Sandy Bridge CPU, motherboard & RAM into another case when I got a new PC this year. But that looks to be not as soon as I hoped. But I also figured if I went Skylake I could drop in a low end i5 or an i3 later on down the track & be fine.
I’ve got a Dell Inspiron desktop I3 sitting on my desk at work that would do you fine – needs a gfx card and disks but the rest is there. Shame it’s probably not economical to ship it from Mel to Bris.
Depends on weight, Aus post are pretty economic from my experience when shipping stuff under 10kg’s
I’ll take a look at it on Monday then, see if I can get it booting and see what the specs are. And it’s probably only 4-5kgs. If you’re interested?
Sounds good man! Yeah I am! That’d be relatively cheap to post honestly. I’ll pay you for it & whatever packing materials too by the way!
It’s free, just the postage. Was dropped at my desk with a “you do stuff with spare pcs?”
I’ll check it out, anyway.
Alright whatever is cool with you dude!
New Chili Peppers album out tomorrow, picking it up after work! \o/
Ooh, I can’t wait.
Just saw them on James Cordon doing some carpool karaoke, it was amusing.
Ok @trikeabout @pixel_the_ferret_viking @mrtaco other elite players.
Please help me find the longevity you find in this game.
I’m a 2 bit smuggler and explorer named Trenchant, about to upgrade his trusty Adder for a Cobra MKIII.
Haven’t got Horizons yet but where do I go from here? How do I get more from the game than a credit/ship treadmill?
Are there guilds and such? Is there an equivalent of low/null sec? Can players conquer systems? Can they build stations? Are the “powers” actually relevant to anything?
Can I do smuggling for more of a purpose than personal credits? Like rare goods for a guild to build…. whatever?
Is there actually anything to find out in the black aside from pretty stars and barren rocks?
How do I get into the meta stuff, the player driven content? Does it exist?
The core mechanics are great but I need more of a reason, a purpose.
But I’m not a role player – an in-my-head fantasy of being a space captain isn’t enough. I need gameplay.
There are groups like the Fuel Rats (who are the emergency services of space), the Iridium Wing (provide escort services – not *escort services*, wash your brain out – to explorers entering and leaving the Bubble. There are groups and guilds in many systems. Two major groups of system to system racers, and the canyon racing nutters. And then the explorers – the mass expedition to Beagle Point (furthest reasonably reachable system from Sol) was a huge success. The E:D explorers are currently doing this, and I’m signed up. I’m currently in the middle of the area that’s been mostly forbidden. Pretty nebulas. Very pretty.
https://www.edsm.net/expeditions/summary/id/2/name/Crab+Nebula+Expedition
ED Australia and New Zealand facebook group has an ingame faction at Kunti called EDA Kunti League. Slowly consolidating the system, and looking to expand this year. The PVE group Mobius has The Order Of Mobius based at Azrael – they’ve just expanded.
There’s at least one group whose sole purpose is to track down and kill gankers.
Following Galnet and some of the forums helps. I agree it’s hard to break into, but just hanging out in the Mobius or EDA facebook groups will give you a better idea. Jump in the Teamspeaks, or voice request me in game and I’ll keep you company.
Do community goals to help progress the story (some are for building new stations or stopping/finishing a war). Start friending other commanders. Powerplay isn’t something I’m into, but there are groups that take it seriously.
Landing has added a lot more to the game though. Engineers is cool.
You’re right that the mission system needs motivation and some more tangible outcomes. Long story missions with some characters would be an improvement.
Or, you’ll find it’s just not for you and that’s fine too. 🙂
Wait, there’s a story? Seen neither hide nor hair of that in game. Where do I find that kinda info? What are the community goals? Where do I find them?
So you can build stations and take over systems? I’ll check out EDA, see what their deal is.
Canyon racing sounds like my cup of crashed and burning tea.
Is there like a community hub where all these groups you’ve mentioned can be found? Is there actually any in game grouping mechanics like guilds/alliances?
As for exploring, are these grand expeditions a just cause thing? Or is there something the community is looking for?
That’s the frustrating thing: you talk about all this stuff but for someone just jumping in it might as well not exist. It literally is not presented to you in game anywhere. I truly have not seen another player yet either.
It’s like they don’t give a damn about catering to anyone who isn’t already a hardcore part of the community before the game even came out.
/End rant.
But I want to try. At least you’ve give me somewhere to start. Cheers.
Galnet, over time. I’ll have a look later and see if I can find a good summary of the events of the last couple of years – President’s ship blown up, change of Emperor, President’s life pod found, alien structures discovered…
I agree with you totally that it’s not well set up for the casual player, though. There should be an in-game “galactic history” guide and some early story missions that help new players into the game and get them from their starting systems to the first rank in each path, and in game ways of aligning to factions (this is rumoured to be coming in 2.2 or 2.3).
The most recent release has meant stuff like Community Goals and missions are way easier to understand, as is outfitting. CGs now appear in the missions board whatever system you’re in. If you turn up at a CG, there will be other players there.
I’ll have a think this arvo about this, you make many good points. I’ve been in for ages, but I mainly pick stuff up by osmosis. Took a year before I was regularly playing with others.
Guilds and grouping is really this games biggest flaw, as there’s no way of doing this in-game at the moment. Instead you’re left to scouring the forums and Reddit to learn about them and start working together with other people…
If i had to fault it on anything, it would be how that’s handled…
But yes, there’s plenty of player driven groups around, working together for a mutual outcome, or simply just to have someone like-minded to talk to.
There’s groups based around the various powers in powerplay, or groups dedicated to helping factions in the systems…
The Elite Racers and fual rats are all organised through the Forums and reddit, so to learn about these player groups that’s a good place to start.
I’m not sure I can be of much help. For me the mechanics are fun enough, I enjoy just tottering around collecting a bunch of missions and ticking them off to earn my way. And trying to do it all in a Sidewinder 😛
I’m the same. I’m really happy just jobbing about. Got a small fleet of ships for different roles, and just do what I feel like.
Really enjoying the exploring out in the nebulae. Most systems are easily categorised into a few types, but then every so often there’s a WTF moment (like Mitterand, or the HIP system that I got a picture like the old cover for Excession
Morning everyone!
So my dog, Sid, had some blood tests the other day to find out why he’s not losing weight. Everything came back normal. He’s really happy but he’s not losing weight despite the fact that he is eating so much less. In fact, he actually gained a kilo.
More exercise?
He exercises twice a day =/

Tonight 7:30 SA time!
Are we still keen?
cc @aliasalpha @blaghman @os42 @transientmind @gingerchris86 @tech_knight @pupp3tmast3r @spadge @highperformance @thecracks @jocon
Still keen. I have formerly-huge empires to vassalize.
Ehh, dunno if I cbf honestly.
Not all that much to do now beyond attack each other or dunk fallen empires.
We could rest it for a week
I’m also OK with this, because I’ll only be working while it’s open anyway. 🙂
I’m good to play but if you guys want to rest it for a week that’s cool with me too.
I’ll go & build my own interstellar empire, with blackjack and hookers!
We do the same thing in Overwatch every night! Play a few games, Jo gets DC’d. Replace Jo, Jo come back. I feel bad.
Not tonight sorry, Doing Boardgames with some of Anton’s Friends
Wrote this on Facebook, but as today is a pretty special day for me i want to share it with you, my friends, as well.
10 years ago today, this happened.
Context.
That is the aircraft that carried a young man (me) down to australia, exactly 10 years ago today.
That is actually the plane touching down in Sydney, which just so happens to be online for some reason 😛
Today, at 2:40pm i have officially been in Australia for 10 years!
It’s been a bumpy road from time to time, but looking back at the past 10 years i would not change any of it.
Big thanks to everyone that’s helped feel me welcome, and been part of my friend circle in that time (@rize, @cakesmith, @scree, @blaghman, @rocketman, @f4ction, @freezespreston, @sernobulus, @tech_knight @ohgodi’mgoingtoleavesomeoneoutandfeelterrible in particular is people i’m happy/proud to call friends)…
It’s been a crazy 10 years, let’s make the next 10 equally crazy!
Heck yeah!
Don’t know what we’d do without you!
I know right? who else would people do Hitler jokes about? XD
I was thinking more along the lines of playing games, but sure, why not
games are pretty great too!
Now if only you’d join us on overwatch =P
Stop the plane people! Except for that Pixel guy, he’s alright.
Thumbs up mate, glad you are enjoying it here.
Awwwww :3
Yay Pixel!
Hey when were you planning that house-warming/birthday shenanigans thingy?
August some time? i’ll need to make sure i save the date!
Yeah, August 20th, amigo!
schweeeeet, i’ll make sure they don’t roster me on to work or anything for that day!
Three cheers for
HitlerPixel!Annual PAX hug?
Is that even a question? 😛
Last song played game time!!
Dream Sequence by Keeno
Needed some drum n bass to “smash out” the emails and move on to other more boring records keeping type work.
Yay for restrucres and all the stresses they bring.
How is everyone?
Big plans for your weekends?
The Boxer – Simon and Garfunkel
So out of the six people in my immediate work area, the only person who isn’t sick is the smoker. Winter has not been kind to us so far.
@aliasalpha @blaghman @os42 @transientmind @gingerchris86 @tech_knight @pupp3tmast3r @spadge @highperformance @thecracks @jocon OK, so we’ll rest for a week and reconvene next friday
Sounds good, I could probably do with more sleep. Not that I will but I could
The Trump Collective will rise next week Friday 7.30 SA time, and make space great again
I was watching Warcraft anyway 😛
Not sure how many motorsports fans are out there, but seeing as Le Mans 24 hours is on this weekend anyone planning anything for that?
We’ve stocked up on snacks and everything for camping in front of the TV for 24 hours… Should be amazing as usual…
Actually rather excited because i’m currently planning to actually go there next year with my dad and sister (and waifu of course!)… It’s been on my bucketlist for years!
Yes. Having it on as much as possible.
If you want to get in the Le Mans mood, i highly recommend a documentary i watched recently “Journey to Le Mans”… Was very good, and gave a good insight into all the things a team goes through to prepare for Le Mans each year.
I’ve had Eurosport on. I watch Le Mans 24 Minutes most days in the buildup. Was watching practice a couple of nights ago.
I’m going to commemorate Le Mans by driving round the block all night. 😉
Have the stream on from the WEC site on the middle monitor , live timing on the left monitor, spotter’s guide on the right monitor, with Radio Le Mans on as well. 🙂
Quick question. What really grinds the gears of the people of tay?
Personally, it’s slow walkers, people who just don’t pay attention to their surroundings while walking and those who are just rude.
Well, if I need gears ground I’d traditionally have gone to a clockmaker, but there’s lots of fabrication places that could CNC mill one for you.
I shake my fist at you *shakes fist at Red*
Arseholes overtaking on the left using the parking lane when you’ve had to stop briefly before taking a turn. I should be allowed to mount a 30mm autocannon on the roof of the car to discourage them.
They can’t wait 5 fucking seconds so swing around largely blind into a place specifically set aside for vehicles to be stationary.
If I can’t have an autocannon I’ll settle for a .50cal machine gun
I do this, simply because every other person will just overtake and leave you stuck. I always indicate though and make sure there is no traffic. Victorians are an impatient lot of drivers D=
This is a good one. Same for cyclists who overtake on the left when a vehicle is indicating they’re about to turn. Gah. Even worse is when two or three riders are already stopped to allow the vehicle to turn and another rider comes barreling past.
Basically it’s the same category as what @scree said, though – inconsideration and rudeness.
Wait, are we talking about turning right? Because that’s what I was thinking. I have noticed lots of people are not slowing down when I am slowing down to turn left. They just hope that I’m going to turn in time before they rear end me
I meant vehicles turning left:
A pushbike may overtake any vehicle on the left as long as that vehicle isn’t indicating a left turn and moving to turn. A lot of riders ignore this. Of all the road rules for a cyclist to ignore, it’s one of the worst as a driver has a really high workload during a left turn and the cyclist is diving straight into a blind spot.
But yeah, what you said about turning (either way) is bang on. Too many drivers just don’t give enough room for collision avoidance.
It frustrates me. Just slow down, it won’t hurt you.
I’ve never seen that, with the cyclists. Which is lucky.
Probably because my route is one of the two busiest in the city (I do Sydney Road/Royal Parade, the other being St Kilda Road). Hipsters, uni students and arrogant city workers.
Too many tossers out there. You’re right, it’s not hard to just ease off and give other road users time and space. I have no problem slowing down on my bike to let someone in or out. It’s just common courtesy.
Speaking of, the rain has stopped and I’m making a break for it today. Worked over the long weekend, so getting a half day back today.
In my (limited, not-city based) experience, that one’s a 50/50 with the driver being required to not overtake the bike if they can’t move safely past them. I’ve had a couple of occasions where a car has managed to overtake me by <10 meters before turning across me and that’s scary.
In the situation you describe, car is wrong. 🙂 And yeah, it’s scary.
If car’s turning left and there’s a bike ahead, don’t overtake it and then turn. If car’s turning left shortly and there’s a bike or bikes on its left, signal and brake to let the bikes go in front. If car’s turn is a long way ahead and can safely speed up to allow sufficient distance to safely turn without causing the bikes to brake, do it.
If bicycle is going straight, and there’s a car turning left ahead, don’t overtake it on the left…
This shit isn’t hard to sort out…
I get overtaken a LOT by cars that are already indicating left. They’re in the wrong (but I still brake and wait or go round them on their right).
Just don’t get me started on dickheads who cut me up and then shout about “rego”. *fume*
People who don’t put the clutch all the way down in my car.
Maybe you should make them drive properly?
But i like that sweet sound of metallic grinding the car makes in gear changes! Makes me feel like a man! or something… man it’s been a while since i drove a manual 😛
Friends not replying to messages/bailing on events. I completely understand that things happen and people cannot make it to events etc. however when I don’t hear anything until the event is actually happening or even afterwards it really grinds my gears.
Eg. I organize a soccer teams training session and game each week, and there are more times than I can count when somebody has said they were able to make it to training and we end up having 11 guys who say they all can make it, and then we end up with 4 with the number of people cancelling/not showing up. This mind you is from a team of 18, pretty poor if you ask me.
Also, anything published by Newscorp or Fairfax.
That’s not my top spot. I’ll keep that to myself today (don’t worry, it’s not you, don’t type sorry).
But yeah, slow walkers & phone staring at walkers are total dicks.
There’s also slow walkers that rush in front of you for the stairs & then hit crawling speed on the stairs. What in fuck were they rushing for if they were just going to stand in the way?
Arsehats.
A hob.
People who do something stupid in traffic then react like the person honking at them is an impatient asshole. Like they’ll slowly cut across three lanes without indicating to do a U-turn in the most dangerous way possible, then assume the people honking at them are pissed off because they’re too impatient to let someone through.
People who are completely oblivious to everything eg stopping dead in front of you or having unnecessarily loud conversations on public transport. People who force their opinions on you unprovoked and belittle you if you feel differently. Those salespeople in shopping centres that are like ad popups and won’t take “no thanks” for an answer. People….. maybe I should just say people 😛
Man, people are the WORST!
Forgive me if I’m wrong, but are you new to posting in tay? If so, then Welcome to tay!
Oh dear, guard your wallets folks; according to RPS, the next steam sale is likely starting next week
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/06/16/when-does-the-steam-summer-sale-start/
Steam sales kind of become meaningless when it’s always the stuff you already own constantly on sale.
Less exciting, more depressing.
“I paid a lot more than that… and I still haven’t played it.”
@beardymcmuttonchops @beeawwb @dc @freezespreston @greenius @gutsoup @jimu @lambomann007 @popdart5 @rocketman @sernobulus @strange @sughly @transientmind @welbot @virus__
Right. This is all Rockets fault so blame him but Saturday night of the 25th come to mine and we’ll talk and play games and eat and drink and
buttother stuff.Sick invite.
You’re right, I didn’t invite you.
…
….
……
Shit. You’re still here.
I’m wearing my awful Drake sweater that evening anyway.
I’m loving the mental image of ‘wearing an awful sweater’ as a dedicated activity which is so demanding that it precludes any other activity.
Ask @jacksonwryan. it’s a serious mental load.
That photo was nuts.
Yeah, nah.
Nah, yeah
Oh, shit mate, orite
I will be there with bells on because i am a good guest. Also if someone needs a lift, i am happy to oblige.
Oh sure, can’t make it down to Canberra, but you can easily make it to an event that is considerably less distance away.
I see how it is.
Thank you for informing me of this 😛
I might do Soph’s in the afternoon then head down to Freezy’s with you? When you heading down? When’s it start Mr. Freeze?!
@freezespreston
6ish.
Sick invite
Mate, you could have got a house anywhere, been up here with the QLD folk and been all cool and stuff but noooo, you had to stay down in Melbourne far away from old Freezey. You’re damn right I’m holding a grudge.
I mean, aside from my actual health issues meaning I can’t live in QLD, sure!
THE GRUDGE 2: MORE GRUDGENING
Are you saying that hanging with me isn’t worth a drastically shortened lifespan? That’s cold, man.
Man I never get invited with all the cool kids.
YAAAAAAAAAAY
I mean… uh. *flicks fringe out of eyes* I guess I can be there.
Dammit, I’m going camping that weekend. :'(
Oh thank fuckAaw, it won’t be the same without you.The 25th and in next Saturday? I can try & come, though I have work the next day so, put me down as a maybe? Will bring booze though if I come..
Picked up the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album, gonna crank the cans and listen to it through my ear holes.
My sewing machine is a fucking arsehole.
Need to hurry up and find that volcano I was going to hurl my old laptop into, I’ve found a new candidate for sacrificial offering to the god of rage.
What’s wrong with it?
It had a bad childhood and now it thinks it’s ok to take it’s frustrations out on everyone around it.
Sounds like my brother
It likes to work just fine but only so long as I don’t need it at the time 😛
It kept not sewing properly, then worked fine on a test piece, then stopped working again on the actual thing. Spent ages trying to figure out why the thread kept twisting around down in the bobbin area without coming back up like it’s supposed to, unscrewed it to try and figure out what was going on, eventually noticed that the thread had somehow escaped the take-up lever. Fixed that and tried again, still no luck, somehow it happened again. And then it was ok after that, except every second stitch was just not stitching so I just did a couple of rows of bork and tied off the ends so it’d at least work. Then gave up because I’d only got half of what I wanted to do done and there wasn’t any time to stuff around trying to do any more.
Sometimes it’s a tension problem. I hate tension problems. D=
I read that as “have” at first. And was like “me too *twitch*”.
Fiddling with the tension didn’t seem to fix it though.
One solution then. Throw it into the ocean. @blaghman
More attainable, but I still prefer a volcano 😛
Punch it?
@scree *speeds off*
Not exactly what I meant =P
I am so very annoyed that I can’t find* a video clip of ‘The Cruiser’ driving his car into the volcano in Garfield in Paradise.
(* Due to work/firefox restrictions on this machine, not due to its lack of existence.)
Give it some TLC – clean out the dust, give the moving parts a good oil, put in a fresh needle and then rethread – that usually fixes most problems.
I have a timing problem on my overlocker. I might spend tomorrow tinkering with it – I’ve found some VERY helpful youtube videos on overlocker maintenance.
I was badly wishing I could have used the overlocker instead 😛
\o/ new season of Orange is the New Black is available on Netflix but /o\ i’m working today and won’t be home until after midnight which is lame, but oh well!
Got sent a demo code for Monster Hunter Generations. Loving the new hunting styles, tried aerial and adept and I really seem to favour adept so far. Haven’t tried multiplayer yet, anyone else got a copy?
Been staying up watching Le Mans on my computer, sitting in bed trying to keep warm.
Also, my sinuses seem to be playing up. 🙁
But enough about your porn habits already ;D
Well, holy shit. What a Le Mans.
Toyota, after leading, have the car stall with 11 minutes to go, effectively handing the LMP1 victory to Porsche, whilst Chip Ganassi Ford take out GTE Pro.
