Nintendo planned to release the Pokémon Go Plus accessory at the end of this month. Today, however, the company announced that it will be pushed back to September.
The Pokémon Go Plus connects to smartphones and allows players to carry out certain Pokémon Go actions and alerts players of nearby Pocket Monsters and PokéStops via vibrations and a flashing LED.
Via Facebook, Nintendo issued the following statement:
The Pokémon GO Plus accessory will now be released in September 2016 instead of the originally expected end of July launch date. Thanks for your patience, trainers.
No reason has been given for the delay. Kotaku is following up with Nintendo.

Probably due to the shitfight that was the UK launch… Straight onto eBay for $300+… Freaking disgraceful.
It isnt out, anywhere. Fyi.

So thats why the UK store says out of stock? Right..
Cos they’re not in stock. They haven’t been sold anywhere. You heard wrong.
It’s going to be interesting to see how this thing will work. Currently the game doesn’t run when the screen is locked, which is likely to be the case when you’d be using this device. Also, catching pokemon in the game is a bit more involved than simply pressing a button like you would with this device.
So I wonder if it will effectively run independently of the game, and just give you some kind of bonus when you next boot the game based on how many times you remembered to press the button when it vibrated. I guess we’ll find out when they integrate support for the device into the game and people decompile it.
If that is the case I will be wearing this all day, even at work.
As far as I can tell, the entire point of this thing is to let you use the game with your screen locked. Then when something happens, like a pokemon spawning or walking into range of a pokestop, it gives you an alert and you can whip out your phone.
You know, a basic function that you’d expect from any smartphone app so that you don’t have to walk around with your phone constantly out.

By those notes on the officlal page, my guess is that there is a RNG system that looks at trainer level, pokemon CP and rarity and then gives you a chance to auto capture by pressing the button based on math and wizardry without taking your phone out.
You’d want to hope the delay is to fix all the bugs in the app … But you know, probably not.
