You may not know his name, but chances are you’ve seen some of Ko Takeuchi’s art. Best known for his simple designs and bold lines, Takeuchi has helped shape the look of both the WarioWare and Rhythm Heaven series. He also draws a lot of nerdy icons, memes, and adorable characters in his spare time.
Since Takeuchi works in the gaming world he enjoys putting his own cutesy spin on classic characters.
Ness of EarthBound
Doshin the Giant
Papyrus of Undertale
Shante the Half Genie Hero
D.Va of Overwatch (She plays to win)
Not only does Takeuchi following gaming, he’s also a fan of those who make their living talking about and playing games.
Balrog
Jim Sterling of Jimquisition
Mang0 of competitive Super Smash Bros Melee fame
And of course some of Japan’s most famous anime movies and shows make an appearance.
Howl of Howl’s Moving Castle
Satsuki, Mei, and Totoro from My Neighbour Totoro
Detective Conan is on the case
Sailor Moon
Goku of Dragon Ball
Ryuko Matoi of Kill la Kill
Some western animation for good measure.
The Bears of We Bare Bears (and Chloe)
Bee and Puppy Cat dabbing hard
Pearl from Steven Universe
Aww geez. R-R-Rick and Morty *burp*
Even super heroes aren’t safe from Takeuchi’s charm.
Hellboy
She-Hulk
Bat Girl
How about some movies and TV shows? I need a Seinfeld anime in my life…
The new Ghostbusters gang
When Harry Met Sally
The Seinfeld cast
Han Solo of Star Wars
Rey and BB-8 of Star Wars as well
Bill Murray in the original Ghostbusters
Though Takeuchi is in his mid-40’s he still keeps up with the dankest memes on the net.
Dat boi
“This is Fine” mech style
Nyan Cat
Caveman Spongebob
Some hedgehog
Takeuchi obviously has a great sense of humour and a wonderful knack for tackling just about any game, show, movie, character or meme. It’s hard to know what he’ll draw next (Oh! Oh! Pick me!), but in the end every one of his wonderful little doodles is just…
You can find all of Ko Takeuchi’s work on his Twitter account and Tumblr.
