Our First Real Look At The New Prey

Video: During QuakeCon, Bethesda showed off the first gameplay footage of the new Prey, which has very little to do with the old Prey. Bethesda re-announced Prey during E3 this year with an unsettling, Groundhog-Day-esque cinematic trailer. In the new trailer, which features actual gameplay, the game's main character frantically fires at wispy black creatures (including SHADOW HEADCRABS) aboard the Talos 1 space station.

Combat appears to be going for the whole claustrophobic "don't touch me don't touch me don't touch me" vibe. Aesthetically, it feels a bit like a modernised take on System Shock, which makes sense in light of Jason's reporting on Prey's reboot in May 2013, in which it was billed as a sort of spiritual successor to System Shock 2.

Arkane Austin is developing the game. It will be out next year.

Hm, would it be wrong for me to prefer the now long dead sequel to the original Prey?

The original Prey2 trailer still gives me wet dreams. OMG I need that in my life...

Not at all impressed. Looks like a 5 year old game and even then not a good one.

I loved the original Prey, that game went from fun to bonkers in the best way possible. I don't understand the point of putting this game under the Prey banner and not something new?

Too much old school corridor shooting, better have something else original to keep the old formula fresh.

Looks pretty interesting. This is definitely on my radar.

    headcrabs!
So excited for this game, doesnt look like it retains too much from the original. Is this a reboot or sequel?

Anyone else get a Bioshock vibe from the environments in this?

Looks like a much less creepy, first person Dead Space.

Will probably get a pass from me.
