Even SD Cards Can Store A Terabyte Now

And in a small reminder of how far storage technology has come, SanDisk has just shown off a prototype SD card. That holds 1TB.

SanDisk’s parent firm, Western Digital, showed off the prototype memory cards at the annual Photokina photography convention. Given that the internet is rapidly moving to 4K content, it makes sense to have SD cards to suit. It’s also being billed as an option for those recording for 8K and in VR, which should be fun down the track.

That said, it’s worth remembering that this is just a prototype for now. It’s also worth remembering that SanDisk’s 500GB SDXC card cost $US800, so it’s not like you’ll be picking this up any time soon.
