Our Favourite Games From September

Happy spring, readers! The weather is getting warmer, but it’s still just cool enough to curl up inside and play video games. Here’s all the new games the Kotaku staff enjoyed in September.

Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander

We enjoyed our time with this indie game, which is a mix of FTL and XCOM.

Spirit of Justice, the sixth mainline game in the Ace Attorney series, takes us on yet another trip to a world where the good guys always win. We especially enjoyed the writing.

Insomniac’s brawler for VR may just be a new perspective on a familiar genre, but it works.

The Curious Expedition

This exploration game came out of Early Access in September, and we enjoyed the opportunity to see the world, meet new people and steal their stuff.

Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor

This indie game lets you relish the futility of late space-capitalism in all of its bright, low-poly glory.

Rive

This shooter/platformer combo has a challenging approach to play that feels like it stumbled out of an arcade.

Forza Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 3 is more of an open-world game than a driving game, which is just one of the things we enjoy about it.

Fractured Space

This free-to-play space MOBA is in Early Access, but it’s already off to a great start.

Destiny: Rise of Iron

We’ve played a lot of Destiny. This new story mission is one of the game’s best, and it celebrates the game’s two-year history in an enjoyable way.

This dog sled racing game captures the frozen beauty of the great outdoors.
