If you’ve ever wondered how the dozens of layers of SCORE and EXPLOSIONS and WOMP sounds come together to blast your ears during a movie trailer, try watching one without any of those things actually in the clip.
Earlier tonight, IMAX accidentally uploaded their own version of the December 4 Mummy trailer that was missing several channels of sound, leaving us with a few lines of dialogue, some indecipherable background sound effects and Tom Cruise wailing like an N64 character while he bounces around an aeroplane.
Here’s the busted version, which was swiftly taken down by IMAX:
And here’s the clip as it’s supposed to sound:
Whoops.

Is the womp still a thing? It kind of put me off watching trailers and movies for a while.
I guess it got uploaded without video too…
I prefer the self aware, tongue in cheek humour of the Brendan Fraser one. This one seems like it’s trying too hard to be spooky and grimdark.
I don’t know which surprise me more.
That I missed out hearing there was a new Mummy movie, or that Tom Cruise is in that movie.
Can anyone find a link to the original broken version? I really want to see it.
