Even after its lukewarm reception last year, Eidos Montreal is still working away at Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The latest update includes a new mission, called Desperate Measures and a bunch of cosmetic bonuses, all for free.
The details are up on the game’s Steam community page, in a post from “Poticha”:
We’re making available for free to everyone the Desperate Measures extra in-game Mission, a compilation of skins for Adam’s armor and trench coat, a re-skinned pistol and combat rifle, and various consumables. This will be added to your library automatically upon updating the game (if you don’t already own this content).
For lovers of art and narratives, there’s even some gear for you:
You can also download three digital books here. You’ll find our novella Deus Ex: Hard Line, written by James Swallow, which stars Alex Vega. It also includes our mini comic The Dawning Darkness, as well as a mini artbook.
It might not do much to help the game’s mixed rating on Steam, but I guess it’s better than nothing.
Now available for free: Desperate Measures mission, Covert Agent pack and more [Steam]

Are we gonna get something that makes the season pass feel worth it soon?
Are we gonna get something that makes the GAME feel worth it soon?
Fixd it for you.
O’damn you did indeed son. lol
Hang on – That’s just the pre-order DLC isn’t it?
Yep, the mission and cosmetic options are both preorder dlc.
Correct.
Yep. So really no reason at all to pre-order now. Kiiiiiiinda a slap in the face for those who did.
Well great. After DX:HR, was so keen on this game. Pre-ordered back in 2015, then found out the game was being delayed 6 months. Ok, cool – Means they’re going to iron out some bugs, right? Well bugger me – Hate to think the state of the game back in Feb after what we got on release
Still, I was keen. Before game release, I noticed OzGameShop had the hard cover guide available, so I pre-ordered that too. The idea was to play through the game a heap, then use the guide to work out what I missed. After getting the game, I realised that the guide didn’t really cover much outside of what you were pushed in to anyways (I realise this probably isn’t EAs fault, but it’s fuel for my disappointment)
Few days before release, I had the cash for the season pass, and decided to grab it while I could. Then the game comes out, and *then* we find out that a lot of the DLC stuff was single use (I should of got the Fallout 4 season pass when it was first announced, before the price hike – Didn’t want to make that mistake again)
I don’t often hype myself up for games, but after DX:HR I thought I’d let myself get a little excited. Then again, this is the first time EA has bitten me in the arse (Then again, I can’t think of any other EA games I own). And I know EA didn’t make the game, but a lot of the reasons for the state of things is being blamed on EA – EA pushed EIDOS to do crap, like the microtransaction store
I’m 24 hours in, and at the end of the GARM facility. Lost drive to play when I found out I’m close to the end already
Now 4 months after launch, I find out they are now giving away the special bonuses I was rewarded with for pre-ordering. I don’t mind that other people are getting those few things, but so soon? Don’t they usually wait a year?
Screw it – Only titles I’ll pre-order from now on are Monster Hunter and Pokemon (Although, Pokemon is freaking pushing it of late)
Square Enix publish Eidos games, not EA. Though, honestly, it’s getting to the point where I can’t tell the difference between them. Or any of them, except CDPR
The question is where is the second DLC “A Criminal Past” – 4 months and not a peep!
Hated the DLC they have out for pre-order. Most of it was alright but they had a 1 time use pack of items that was both ridiculous and very mobile phone IAP feel to it. Once redeemed on any save, that was it, no other game save or playthrough could use them. And iirc they were just an extra gun and ammo and such, so weird and pointless (and frustrating as if the game crashed before saving or save was corrupted , you lost the items and had to email SE).
I also am glad they eventually gave out the pre-order DLC, I hate when they do that and that piece of the game is forever locked…but it also sucks for everyone who did buy day 1. Normally just sticking it in the Season Pass (which so far seems empty) is how they normally do it, but I am glad they did give it out free, even if the stuff was pretty eh anyway.
