The Official Call Of Cthulhu Game Looks A Bit Like The Evil Within

You’d thought an official game would have been made by now, considering how many other games have leveraged H.P. Lovecraft’s Elder Gods for their own creations. But an officially licensed game is due out later this year, and here’s a little of what it looks like.

Made by the same studio behind the Blood Bowl games (Cyanide), Call of Cthulhu: The Official Game is a detective mystery following Edward Pierce. The trailer below gave me a few flashbacks to The Evil Within, Bethesda’s 2014 horror adventure featuring a cop investigating a murder at a mental hospital. Call of Cthulhu has got plenty of hospital flashbacks as well, although given the popularity of the source material Cyanide’s narrative will probably be a touch easier to follow.

Here’s a snippet from the game’s description:

As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see. You will have to find balance between your own sanity, and your determination in finding out what lurks in the shadows.

Yup, sounds about right. Call of Cthulhu: The Official Game has a scheduled release date of “2017”, and is scheduled for release on PC and PS4.
