So we’ve just seen off what was a pretty decent year for video games. But 2017 isn’t looking too shabby either: we’re expecting to hear more about Cyberpunk 2077, there’s a new Zelda on the horizon with the Nintendo Switch, Mass Effect: Andromeda is just around the corner, and Bethesda is bringing one of the classics back with Quake Champions.
Question is: what are you most excited for?
This one is going to be a giant poll, much like the votes for your most disappointing and most favourite game of 2016. I’ll follow-up on the results next Monday, so there’s plenty of time to have your say. I’ve also allowed multiple answers on this poll, because it seems a touch unfair to allow just one vote when it comes to games people are excited for.
I’ve tried to be as exhaustive as possible, although I’ll have undoubtedly missed a few here or there. Yell at me in the comments if your favourite is missing. Otherwise, let’s get to the voting!

If Cyberpunk releases this year, I’ll eat my hat.
Yeah, I’d be surprised given the delays that The Witcher 3 got and the systems they’re still hiring for (like the flying car programmer). But have to CDR a chance, right?
CD Projekt haven’t really said anything about Cyberpunk in a long time now. If it was coming in 2017 they’d have started the hype machine by now.
Possibly. There’s been a bit of a shift away from long hype trains, however. Fallout 4 inspired a lot of studios/publishers.
im expecting it in 2018 myself.. that said ive also been waiting for this game since 1990
Not sure all the other options were necessary. The correct answer is Red Dead Redemption 2.
I would say Hand of fate 2 for me
Interested in Ghost Recon, bridge crew, detroit and battletech
Horizon: Zero Dawn looks great but I don’t have the console. Also really like the idea of cyberpunk but not sure it will release. Maybe prey but will need to see more
I’ll be all over the Switch and whatever it brings.
The Switch… that’s the Zelda peripheral, right? Yeah. I’m up for that.
Your Mum 2: This Time I’m Going After Your Grandma.
You don’t think Ubisoft is going to announce/release a new Assassin’s Creed? They took the year off in 2016, so they have to be coming out with a new Assassin’s Creed in 2017, right?
So many, I can’t choose just one.
Really keen for
Red Dead Redemption 2
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Oddworld: Soulstorm
Yooka-Laylee
Crackdown 3
Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite
Overkill’s The Walking Dead
Telltale’s Guardians Of The Galaxy
Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy
Injustice 2
State Of Decay 2
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
3D Mario and
a new Mario Kart (if there is one coming out at launch for the switch. Not long now before we actually find out launch titles).
Really hoping Days gone will launch this year too.
I’ll drop a couple of those in, thanks. (And GT Sport, which I’d forgotten.)
I think everyone has!
What about Forza 7? That’s out later this year isn’t it?
Pretty much a guaranteed. Probably drop around the usual time Sep/Oct.
I’ll be interested if they do a proper version for the PC this time.
That seems to be the plan from MS going forward.
Nier: Automata’s demo was absolutely stellar, probably the one i am looking forward to the most.
Am I missing something or is Zelda not actually on that list? Haha >.<
Personally.. kind of happy most of the games coming out this year aren’t my kind of games, but hell yes to Zelda, Nier and Horizon. Looking forward to a few indies as well, Edith Finch, Hob (if it comes out), Rime, Below, Everything, Where the Water Tastes like Wine. Oh yeah, Finding Paradise is meant to be this year! The sequel to To the Moon. Definitely gunna ball at that one.
Zelda’s there.
Persona 5, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Telltale’s Guardians, and Kingdom Hearts III if it’s even a real fucking game at this point because as far as I’m concerned it’s barely an amoeba.
Gravity Rush 2.
Nioh is probably my No 1 out of the list. Really enjoyed the beta.
Other than that, Cuphead. Had a lot of fun playing the demo. Pity it keeps getting pushed back.
Honestly not too sure about the rest. There’s a lot of interesting potential like Horizon: Zero Dawn but I’ve been burned way too many times. I’ll wait to see reviews before I consider them.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Red Dead Redemption 2
GT Sport
Wipeout
Am i blind or is the new zelda not in that list?
Fair enough if you’re predicting a last minute 1 year delay. Otherwise, that’s a big miss
Or perhaps it just goes without saying that we are all looking forward to LOZ?
It does. It’s in the poll, at any rate.
was that a sneaky late addition? 😉 I swear I looked 5 times
Super pumped for NIOH!
Horizon, Persona 5, Nier, Yakuza, Read Dead, Mass Effect, gravity rush 2, ni no kuni 2 and farpoint I’m also excited for
If the release gods are kind and games like Detroit, Dreams, God of War, spider-man and cyberpunk drop this year, 2017 will be craaazy good
Hot damn, there’s some good stuff on that list. I didn’t even realize. There are damn near 20 titles that I would comfortably even pre-order right now. Even though pre-ordering is everything wrong with the games industry.
I already have a pre-order for Andromeda’s ultra collector’s edition, and am a part of the Andromeda initiative. ALL THE DLCS FOR ME. Also, I kickstarted BattleTech and everything I’ve seen from their updates indicates that it was the safest investment I’ve ever made.
If I had the cash, I would immediately plant pre-orders down on Horizon, Torment, Red Dead 2, Metal Gear, Wildlands, Cyberpunk, Prey, FF7, and South Park. I’m very optimistic about Detroit, Nioh, Sniper: GW3, Ace Combat, Tokyo 42, Persona 5, Nier, and Yakuza 0, but probably need to see more before going full ‘lock it in, Eddie’ hype.
And I’m cautiously hopeful for Hand of Fate 2, Dawn of War 3, Full Throttle, Dynasty Warriors, Star Citizen, State of Decay 2, Divinity 2, and Sea of Thieves. But these all have elements that make them risky (including risk of being bland) propositions.
I’ve also kickstarted Battletech… and I’ve invested the requisite hundreds in Mass Effect preorders too.
I think the only other thing I’m excited about are the new Red Dead game, and whatever game gets wrapped around the Blur Studios cutscenes in Halo Wars 2.
Mass Effect! Cyberpunk? If it’s out. Star Citizen. I really doubt it’ll be as good as Freelancer
Mass Effect, all day
After 20 years, it will be FF7 , pretty please.
I’m also looking forward to Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone next week along with:
– Night In The Woods: Mae’s Homecoming
– Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbral Star
– Gravity Rush 2
– Kingdom Hearts II.8
– Digimon World: Next Order
– Touhou Double Focus/Genso Wanderer
– Tokyo Xanadu
– Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy
Other missed titles:
– Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
– Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers
– Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book (PC release)
– Nights of Azure (PC version)
– Ys Origin (PS4/Vita release)
– Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey
– Birthdays The Beginnings
– Danganronpa 1•2 Reload (PS4 release)
– The Silver Case (Ps4 release)
– Dragon Quest Heroes II
Ys VIII also not in the list. Falcom’s president recently confirmed it’s releasing in English in 2017.
what’s the game in the third picture?
So far I’m thinking Gravity Rush 2, Horizon and Zelda.
