And here’s your daily reminder that Mass Effect fans are really into banging aliens. So into it that they’re even delving into the details of the game’s as-yet unfinalised ESRB rating to try and figure out just how much alien genitalia they’ll be able to ogle in the game. Some of Bioware’s top brass have also been jumping in on the discussions on Twitter, true to form, and fueling some salacious gossip.
The whole thing started when Bioware’s general manager Aaryn Flynn revealed that Andromeda managed to get its ‘partial nudity’ rating upgraded to ‘full nudity’, a feat that is perhaps unsurprising considering what we know thus far about the game’s ‘mature’ content.
Remember. We lost the “partial nudity” rating and got full “nudity”. https://t.co/yauGf9Cnol

While Andromeda‘s ESRB rating has not been confirmed yet, eagle-eyed fans on the BSN spotted an M-rating on cover art included on an Amazon product page. The nudity rating seems to have been ‘upgraded’ since that post was made.
Flynn was also active in the replies to his tweet assuring people that yes, alien nudity definitely does count as real nudity. What a time to be alive.
He also dropped this wonderful little descriptor:
@Lady_Alenko @N7Follower Yes it’s totally softcore space porn

And in case you’re worried about Australia’s overzealous classification system depriving us of gratuitous alien nudity, you can breathe a little easier knowing that Andromeda is already rated MA15+ in Australia for “strong sex scenes” and “moderate impact” nudity. Take from that what you will.
Not everyone was as keen on the idea of explicit sex scenes in Bioware’s next epic, however, but Flynn was quick to assure fans that they were tastefully done, and all as part of a much bigger picture.
Sorry, I gave the wrong impression. We have strong characters, great gameplay, romances, and more, all dealing with mature themes. https://t.co/GAy6ZIzIPC

@of_somebody Yes definitely. Our developers worked extremely hard to bring these characters to life in a responsible way. My bad word choice

If you’re in need of more info to keep you going before the game’s March 23 release date, there are quite a few other interesting tidbits to be discovered on Twitter, such as the game’s “steamy dialogue” or, more excitingly, the fact that Andromeda‘s multiplayer will apparently let you lead a Krogan death squad (as a Krogan). Keen.

if its rated MA15+ then its not Soft Core porn. this is just typical 007 sex scenes, not Witcher 3 level which arent even that big of a leap as the only difference is you can see bewbs in the witcher 3 sex scenes
Witcher 2 had MA-rated boobs, the only reason it had some of the scenes censored was because sex was used as a reward/incentive. Still got to have plenty of softcore porn with Trish in the waterfall. I imagine this is the same.
Witcher 3 was rated R18+ for, amongst other things, “high impact sex”…
…yeah, so I’m not expecting more than a few boob shots in ME:A.
Witcher 2 had MA rating because R18+ for games didn’t exist at the time IIRC. It was one of those borderline games that was part of the argument for bringing in the higher classification.
M/MA15+/R18+/XXX
Dont matter to me as long as the game is good. Cant argue with a little extra fan service
Probably a stupid question to ask, but I’ll do it anyway: On PC, I’m assuming it’s only through Origin?
if you mean buying digital, then for Deluxe and Super Deluxe, it looks to be origins only
greenmangaming is selling the standard edition.
Yeah, but it still needs Origin. Not a great fan, especially since last I’d used it I had a few games vanish from my catalogue. :/
That’s a weird hidden games thing. You can find them if you do a bit of googling on how to show the hidden games in origin.
Hm, I’ll have to look into it. Not that I should have to, god dammit. :/
ah as in the requirements. yea sadly origin tied. are you sure the library hasn’t just auto hidden stuff?
kind of like me wanting to play Halo Wars and refusing to use the MS store (although some would prob argue i’m not missing much =p)
I want explicit sex scenes in Mass Effect…
…luckily there’ll probably be a Brazzers parody 😉
STRAYA
So it got the rating it would have had at the movies??? Or would boobs fall under an M rating?
I wonder if they’ve improved the tech at all from the plastic-mannequins-rubbing-together-creepily scenes from the last game?
Well, it’s on the Frostbite engine now, so I’d imagine it’d be an improvement over the Unreal Engine, which was really showing its age by ME3. The romance scenes in DAI were pretty good, so it’s promising.
The only stuff this country bans now is sexual violence and drug use connected to rewards.
With the R rating pretty much anything goes. The Witcher 2 was censored due to no R rating, TW3 was totally uncensored with heaps of sex and nudity. Times have changed. With games like GTAV, MKX, Killing Floor 2, TW3, DOOM, MGSV (sexual violence) and plenty of others. All uncut
mmmm show me some krogan titties
So long as I get my turian romance I could care less about the details.
