EB Games Expo Heads Back To The Gold Coast For 2017

After spending the last few years in Sydney, this year's EB Games Expo will herald the event's return to Australia's warmer, northern parts. Scheduled for October 7-8, the expo will set up shop in the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, with tickets going on sale in March.

The event will once again be open to the public, according to the press release and other than the date and place, doesn't really have much information regarding the expo's contents.

There is a quote however from EB's events director Debra McGrath on why the company is returning to Queensland:

"The EB Expo burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion on the Gold Coast, and we’re so excited to bring this now world-famous event back to Queensland," said [McGrath]. "Last time we were on the Gold Coast sessions completely sold out. This year we’re expecting the whole show to sell out in record time."

Along with PAX Aus, EB Expo is one of the biggest local gaming events on the calendar and should have a few surprises in store for attendees. Though the promo video accompanying the release doesn't really drum up excitement.

I'll just leave it here.

Planning on trying to attend in spite of concerns that it will lead to disappointment due to lack of gaming content for a 3rd year in a row. Although 2015 was a slow year in gaming, 2016 was very much branded "the year that gaming died", and i really dont hold much hope for 2017 after being told that this years much smaller venue will have "same amount of stuff, less empty space".

Weeks later, with little to no new news other than the obvious dimming down of the UG Pass, its hardly surprising they havent sold out of UG passes let alone selling out of passes entirely. Just goes to show they know less than jon snow.
