There’s a point where R2-D2 toys stop being “figures” and start being “actual droids with limited functionality”. That point is probably somewhere around 1.2m tall and $US7450 ($9810).
I mean, look at how this thing from Sideshow ships and has to be put together.
And look at the dumb shit people are going to be doing every time they come to your house:
And look at the… OK, so this actually looks pretty great.
If you’re wondering what you get for $US7450 ($9810) other than the size and build quality, he has a variety of ways that he can light up, his dome can be moved via a remote control and he has “holographic projectors”. What you don’t get is shipping to Australia, which will run you an extra $US1172 ($1543), bringing your total to $US8622 ($11,354).
And just in case you were also thinking “I could get a car for that money”, know that this has a very similar payment plan.

Powered by 8 AA batteries. Seems legit.
What about a life size dress up Rey?
For “collection purposes” 😉
To go with my life sized BB8 your honor!
I hate to say this, but the $80 version at Target seems like more fun. Sure this thing can move it’s head and project things and make noises and is life sized. Target R2D2 moves on his own when you talk to it, projects a picture of the Princess on the wall. He also takes less AA batteries. I got one for myse.. I mean my son to play with and it’s a real hoot.
