As far as officially licensed DualShock 4’s go, this might be the most unusual controller the PS4 has seen yet. However, it won’t be the first of its kind.
According to 4Gamer (via Hachima), Japanese peripheral maker Hori is releasing the above PS4 Slime-shaped controller.
You hold the controller upside down, revealing the face buttons, d-pad, and thumbsticks. It even has a touchpad.
Again, this isn’t a first! As Hachima reminds us, Hori also released a Slime controller for the PlayStation 2:

Priced at 9,980 yen ($120), the Dragon Quest Controller for PlayStation 4 will be released in Japan on July 29 when DQXI is released. No word yet on an international release.

I have the PS2 controller, to my surprise the PS2 model had dual shock as well. Playing a few stages of Devil May Cry 3 with that controller was good for a laugh 😉
I still have my chainsaw shaped resi 4 gcube controller sitting on my hobby bench. It’s awful to use tho. I think they made a ps2 version as well.
