Darksiders 3 Is Coming, And Here's The Trailer

A leak overnight told the world that Darksiders 3 is happening, and IGN was quick to publish the first trailer. Rather than another horseman of the apocalype as the protagonist, Darksiders 3 features their sister, Fury.

The trailer doesn't show much, other than Fury walking around in front of War and a narrator with fifteen testicles asking her if she's up for a septuple murder. Darksiders 2 made quite a few changes to the formula, so it'll be interesting to see some gameplay. Will it still cram many different gameplay styles into one massive game, even bordering on Shadow of the Colossus at times, or will it be more focused?

The Amazon preorder page has a few lines that make it sound quite similar to the last version:

Harness FURY's magic to unleash her various forms - each granting her access to new weapons, moves and traversal abilities. Explore an open-ended, living, free-form game world in which FURY moves back and forth between environments to uncover secrets while advancing the story.

If this trailer is anything to go by (despite not containing gameplay footage), Fury's whip looks like it can decide how solid it wants to be for a given attack, so I don't think the game will be limiting you to actual whip attacks. It also seems to have a mind of its own at times, so I'm hoping the action will be creative.

She looks a lot like a Dark Eldar Wych. I guess this answers the question I had about why the latest Darksiders pack is called "Fury's Collection" when it's the first two games.

I think the devs lucked out as it seems they decided not to go back to the Zelda formula of DS1 (as much as I enjoyed it). With BOTW hitting it out of the park it would probably just feel dated.

Huh...cool. I enjoyed the first two Darksiders games and I was convinced the series was dead so this is a pleasant surprise. Colour me interested.

Dammit, they really made a point that Fury will be alone on this adventure - no co-op :(

I feel like they could make a good experience with 1-4 players in such a big world. gotta wait and see

gunna have to wait for game number 5 for that to happen, after this one it will be Strife's turn then hopefully the fifth game will give us all 4 horsemen taking it to Charred Council, Heaven and Hell

@zar @thyco oh true - lets hope the series is still good enough to get 2 more games out.

I felt like 2 was really lonely for such a big world, missed the opportunity with the ending of 1 having the 3 horsemen crashing down. But i see what you guys mean

I though a lot was lost in Darksiders 2, with the change to a so-called open world. In reality it was just a lot of empty space and busy work, the padded out the more enjoyable dungeon areas of the game.

The first Darksiders, though much more linear, was a stronger game, with a much more enjoyable world to explore.

I wonder which way they'll take this one?

    Outstanding.

I suppose I'd better go and replay the remasters of one and two then.

Had my interest peaked by the references to Zelda like dungeons, so I just went ahead and purchased Darksiders Fury’s Collection – War and Death. Currently 50% off on Xbox store for a total of $26.23. Seemed like a decent price to me!

Hopefully it doesn't end up just another addition to my overflowing pile of shame.

I hate to break it to you but Darksiders was free thanks to the Games with Gold promotion on Xbox, a month or two ago. $26 is still a good price for such a hidden gem of a series. It's well worth the time. I hope you enjoy it.

Yep, it was last month! I passed up on it at the time because I didn't know it was a Zelda like game. Still, I'm happy enough forking out $26 for the remastered Darksiders Fury’s Collection.

Oh Darksiders, that bastion of stylised hyper-masculinity where diction goes to die.

I'm guessing by the art style employed here, that this game may be available on the Switch.
