Surviving Mars is a strategy game coming to the PC, Xbox One and PS4 courtesy of Paradox, the publishers of games like Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron. It’s all about building cities from Mars, and trying to avoid getting everyone inside them killed in the process.
Developed by Haemimont Games, Surviving Mars is described in the release as a “hardcore survival city-builder, where players will be tasked with creating a livable colony in the harsh, hostile environs of Mars.”
Which all sounds grim and dreadful, but the game is taking a decidedly optimistic approach to the process, realising that the technology of the future — and the fact this work will be done by humanity’s best scientists and engineers — makes it less foreboding than it may sound.
There’s not much else to go on other than that trailer, but the fact this is a Paradox joint, bills itself a “hardcore survival city-builder” and is appearing on PC and console makes it worth keeping an eye on as it comes along.

So it’s Rimworld? Not that I mind, I love that game, and the more the merrier, but it sounds like Rimworld.
Why would they release a trailer with such terrible frame rate issues? Or is that YouTube shenanigans i’m seeing?
Youtube Shenanigans, it played fine for me
so like most paradox games, ignore at release, pick it up after 3-4 expansions?
I probably would have mentioned that the developers are the guys that made Tropico 3/4/5 as that might give people a little more indication to how it might play than the publisher.
Can I grow potatoes in poop though?
