Pokemon’s First Japanese Theme Song Returns

Pokemon’s First Japanese Theme Song Returns

When the original Pokemon TV anime debuted in Japan on 8 September 1998, the theme song was “Mezase Pokemon Masutaa” or “Aim to be a Pokemon Master”. Now in 2017, the theme is back!

The current series Pokemon Sun and Moon began using the theme this week to mark the 20th anniversary of Pocket Monsters.

The song has been used for several Pokemon anime series, getting different versions over the years.

Rica Matsumoto, who voices Ash in the Japanese series, recorded the original version and is back for this 20th anniversary one.
