New Goosebumps Comic Book Series Will Pay A Scary Visit To Horrorland

The sequel to Jack Black’s 2015 Goosebumps flick is set to take a journey to Horrorland, the creepy amusement park from R.L. Stine’s iconic children’s book franchise. So, it should come as no surprise that the first Goosebumps comic book is also taking us to the little park of horrors.

IDW Publishing announced it’s launching a Goosebumps comic book series, inspired by the Goosebumps: HorrorLand spin-off series that ran from 2008 to 2011. The comics will be divided into three-issue story arcs with rotating creative teams. The first arc, Monsters at Midnight, is written by Jeremy Lambert (Attack on Titan Anthology) with art by Chris Fenoglio (X-Files: Origins).

Monsters at Midnight tells the story of sisters Mia and Ginny, who find themselves enduring a boring summer at their grandma’s house. That is, until they enter a door in the back of a spooky bookshop and find themselves trapped in an evil demonic amusement park called Horrorland. And based on the artwork, they’re sure to meet up with Slappy, the famous Goosebumps dummy who launched the HorrorLand book series with Revenge of the Living Dummy.

Monsters at Midnight comes out October 25. You can preview some of the art and character designs below.

Incidentally, it’s turning out to be a bumper day of R.L. Stine news. Variety just reported that the author’s teen horror series Fear Street has been picked up for what could be a three-film series, with Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon) set to direct and supervise the script adaptations.
